More Random Headcanons
Ben is addicted to coffee. Or rather, he relies on it too much. It worries the others. He tends to get very little sleep because of all his duties (I mean, come on, he’s a full-time student and king) so he claims the caffeine is essential to stay awake.
Jay is like a furnace. If anyone ever were to check his temperature, it would probably feel like he has a fever even when he’s perfectly healthy. Maybe because of this, and because he got used to it on the Isle, Jay doesn’t mind the cold.
Evie turned out to really like reading.
The VKs were encouraged to write letters to their parents at least once a month. The letters are brief, and come understandably less frequently than once a month, but they are sent.
Jay’s rough-housing can unintentionally get a little out of hand sometimes.
Evie’s not great with the sight of blood. She can handle it, but it makes her feel a little light-headed.
Ben purposefully leaves pressed flowers (usually purple ones) between the pages of the books he loans Mal.
Carlos’ favorite candy is chocolate peanut butter cups— the same ones he’d had in the limo that day they were first brought to Auradon.
Jay is really flirty and bold with random girls, but when he meets someone he really likes, he’ll be wrapped around their finger.
Mal has 6 cans of spray-paint hidden under her bed. She doesn’t know for certain that having them is against the rules, but better safe then sorry.
When she feels the need, Mal’s words can still have a lot of bite to them, and during the times when she uses that tone, a good portion of the Auradon kids still run for cover.
Carlos, Evie, Jay, and Mal got in trouble for having a food fight in the kitchen. Oops.
Evie makes smoothies often.
At one point, when Ben was describing a newly suggested political plan as something along the lines of “making absolutely no sense” to the others, Jay suddenly smirked and leaned in slyly, saying, “You might even say its… ridiculous.” Which sent Carlos and Evie into a fit of giggles, made Ben’s face turn redder than Carlos’ jacket, and earned him a not-at-all-gentle punch in the shoulder from Mal, who was also looking a little pink in the cheeks.
Mal gets a charm bracelet at the end of the school year as a gift. Every charm on it has a meaning. So far there’s one for each of her friends, a dragon, and a strawberry too, of course.
Occasionally, Jay snores. When he does, it is very, very loud. It actually made Dude flee the room once.
The robotics club is desperate to get Carlos to join.
Evie has a jar on her desk labeled “fashion fund.” It fils up every time a new hairstyle becomes popular.
It is practically illegal to kill a mouse in Auradon. Non-fatal traps are the most severe things used on these potential animal companions.
Ben hates broccoli. He’ll eat it if he must, but will pick it out if he has the chance.
You know how Mal had “Long Live Evil” painted all over the place, including on her belongings? Yeah. Scrubbing that logo off everything was awkward.
Evie takes a lot of pictures of herself, and her friends, and eventually everything else.
Seeing Mal and her friends defy their parents and fight to defend Auradon from them had a profound effect on the citizens of Auradon who had doubted them. Their way of thinking and ideas about good and evil was greatly changed.
Even Chad was changed. He realized that he couldn’t make assumptions about people based on where they’re from. He came to understand that he has to earn respect for himself. His actions reflect who he is, so he can’t just keep thinking of himself as “good” just because of his parents. He starts taking responsibility for his actions and considering them more carefully. Changing his character is a slow struggle though.
He also awkwardly apologies to Evie. She and Jay, who was standing next to her at the time, looked so ready to go into defense-mode that they almost scared the prince away before he could. But the apology was graciously, if with some surprise, accepted.
Carlos and Jay went through a phase where they would try everything dipped in chocolate.
Chocolate-covered strawberries? Well, duh. Chocolate coated popcorn? Check. Cheetos dipped in chocolate? Yup, they tried that too.
One time Evie and Mal came into the kitchen late at night to find that it looked as though a chocolate hurricane had passed through it. And in the middle of it all, sitting on the floor and edge of a table were the two boys, both in about the same state as the room. Whatever explanation they had tried to make was lost in the mouthfuls of food still stuffed in their mouths. Evie stared, Mal rolled her eyes, and they slowly closed the door without a world.
For a long time, even though she’d been shown no animosity for her actions at the coronation, and even though she’d formally apologized, Jane didn’t feel like she had the right to be friends with everyone again. Any kindness she was shown she assumed was just politeness or kindness she didn’t deserve. It took grabbing her hand and physically dragging her to their lunch table from where she had been sitting alone for Jane to realize that it really was okay.
Chad eventually stops being able to get away with making other people do his school work. At first his grades drop, but then he realizes that he has to actually put effort in, starts getting tutored and doing his homework, and becomes a little more “there, there,” you know what I mean?
One time Carlos mildly electrocuted himself while trying to fix the wiring of a device he’d found in the trash on the Isle.
Doug promises himself that he will never make the mistake of not standing up for the people he cares about again after the Family Day thing.
When he first arrived in Auradon, and had the chance to sleep in the big, luxurious, spacious dorm room, Jay had some trouble sleeping. On the Isle, he had always slept “on a worn carpet beneath a shelf straining under ancient television sets with manual dials, radios that never worked, and telephones that had actual cords attached to them” in his father’s shop. It was a very small, closed space. So when he came to Auradon, he felt a little uneasy sleeping in the more open space of he and Carlos’ dorm. It felt vulnerable. Not that he was complaining about the soft bed, at least.
Lonnie is one of the fastest runners at Auradon Prep, and very few people can match her stamina long-distance.
This includes the tourney team.
Evie has a collection of crowns at home. Most of them are things she’s made (with great skill) from random odds and ends of junk assembled to look like a crown. But she has a few that are actual crowns that Auradonian princesses have thrown out because of slight cracks or flaws that were easy for Evie to repair. She had a whole shelf displaying all her crowns and tiaras back in her room on the Isle. Now in Auradon, she has two.
Tea parties are a big thing in Auradon. Mal has some trouble adjusting to that (they never will be her favorite thing.) But Evie loves them.
One time Mal has to attend a formal tea with Ben. She goes, but was dreading it a little. That is until she takes a sip of her tea, and finds that it tastes and smells like strawberries. A glance at Ben, who is discreetly angling his face away from view and smiling slightly, reveals the caring culprit.
Sometimes Evie sings while she’s getting ready in the morning.
Ben has a dry sense of humor. He’ll make a joke, wait a second for people to realize what he said, and then feels very pleased with himself when they laugh.
Carlos was thrilled when he found out that there is even such a thing as white chocolate too.
You’ve probably noticed this, but color schemes are a big deal in both Auradon and the Isle of the Lost. You pick one and stick with it.
normal people after watching beauty and the beast: heehee hoohoo the curse was lifted and the prince is normal and happy forever!
me: actually i think the curse really traumatized adam but it took him a long time to process it because he had become an expert in repressing his trauma and never allowed himself to express or experience his emotions because his abusive father never let him. furthermore adam definitely had nightmares about the enchantress coming back and cursing him again because he wasn’t being good enough. adam was in constant fear of not being good enough because he could never live up to his father’s standards. so the enchantress seeing that “there was no love in his heart” and punishing him for it truly just manifested what his father had been beating him for all along. he wasn’t a good enough human then. and even though he’s changed and grown and found love, he’s still terrified he won’t be good enough — for belle, for his children, for himself, for his country — and he’s scared that the enchantress will find him again and curse him again and his family will suffer the consequences along side him, just as his staff did the first time. he’s scared to trust this goodness in his life, because the last time there was true goodness in his life was his mother, and he lost her all too quickly. so he wakes up in the middle of the night, frightened from the images conjured in his sleep, frightened that belle will be taken from him, that their children will be strangers to him, that the enchantress will take away his good things and make him a lonely beast once more, because he is so sure that he could never be good enough. it’s all he’s ever known.
back on my batb over-analysis bs and how physical affection is Belle and Adam's love language
the fact that Adam was 100% touch starved, the man was cursed when he was eleven and never had any other human company, he just needed a really good hug and some kind of affection that wasn't just a handshake or a pat on the arm from Mrs. Potts
and how the only good affection Belle has gotten is from her father, because Gaston's touches are all uncomfortable and bordering on painfully tight, and there's really no one else around her
so there’s something so emotional about Belle and Adam being afraid to touch each other at the beginning of everything, never reaching out, or fully holding themselves back in Adam’s case. But then they grow closer, the first time Adam touches Belle is in order to protect her from the wolves, and the first time she touches him is to help him back to the castle.
And slowly, their touches grow more frequent, Belle touching Adam’s hands to show him how to feed the birds, her using Adam’s shoulder to push herself to her feet, with Adam being unafraid of his strength as they have the snowball fight, and him guiding her into the library, being so very careful of his grip on her hands.
and during "Enchanted Christmas", all their little moments there! holding onto each other while ice skating, the way Belle is drawn to gravitating towards him and touching Adam in some way while he draws away from her, and then the way Adam instinctively pulls her closer when Forte starts causing the quake in the castle!!!!
That progressing to them sitting as close as possible to each other in the library, pouring over the same book pages, and finally to Belle showing Adam how to dance, her taking his hand first taking the lead on their dance, before Adam gains his confidence and takes the lead, pulling her close and holding her so gently, and Belle resting her head against his chest with full openness and love.
And finally, the two of them reaching towards each other at the end of the movie, not even within reach but already stretching out their hands to the other, and despite the size difference, Adam holding Belle’s hand like it’s something precious, and Belle cradling his face as he’s dying with nothing but gentleness and love
Random, but a really handy way to make things seem creepy or wrong in horror is to make them incongruously neat or clean:
In the middle of a horrific battlefield, you find one corpse laid aside neatly, straightened and arranged, its arms crossed neatly across its chest
As you walk through the garden, you gradually realise that the oddness you’ve been noticing about the trees is that they are all perfectly symmetrical
As you move through the abandoned house, you realise that suddenly that there’s no dust in this room, no dirt or cobwebs
You hear hideous noises coming from behind a locked door, screams and pleas, and visceral sounds of violence. When you manage to break down the door, there is no one there, and the room is perfectly spotless
In the middle of a horrific battlefield, a hollow full of churned mud and blood, you find five corpses cleanly dismembered, each set of limbs or parts neatly laid out in their own little row
You witness a murder, a brutal, grisly killing that carpets the area in blood. When you return in a blind panic with the authorities, the scene is completely clean, and no amount of examination can find even a drop of blood
You run through the night and the woods with a comrade, pulling each other through leaves and twigs and mud as you scramble desperately towards freedom. When you finally emerge from the forest, in the grey light of dawn, you turn to your companion in relief, and notice that their clothes are somehow perfectly clean
You hand a glass of water to your suspect, talking casually the whole while, and watch with satisfaction as they take it in their bare hand and take a drink. There’ll be a decent set of prints to run from that later. Except there isn’t. There are no prints at all. As if nothing ever touched the glass
You browse idly through your host’s catalogue, and stop, and pay much more attention, when you realise that several items on a dry list of acquisitions are ones you’ve seen before, and it slowly dawns on you that each neat little object and number in this neat little book are things that belong (belonged?) to people you know
Neatness, particularly incongruous neatness, neatness where you expect violence or imperfection or abandonment, or neatness that you belatedly realise was hiding violence, or neatness that is imposed over violence, is incredibly scary. Because neatness is not a natural thing. Neatness requires some active force to have come through and made it so. Neatness implies that the world around you is being arranged, maybe to hide things, to disguise things, to make you doubt your senses, or else simply according to something else’s desires. Neatness is active and artificial. Neatness puts things, maybe even people, into neat little boxes according to something else’s ideals, and that’s terrifying as well. Being objectified. Being asked to fit categories that you’re not sure you can fit, and wondering what will happen to the bits of you that don’t.
Neatness, essentially, says that something else is here. Neatness where there should be chaos says that either something came and changed things, or that what you’re seeing now or what you saw then is not real. Neatness alongside violence says that something came through here for whom violence did not mean the same thing as it does to you.
Neatness, in the right context, in the right place, can be very, very scary
And fun

Oooo tell us more about Pup!
Ooooo thanks for asking. I have a lot on him so this is a pretty long post. I hope you enjoy it though, he’s one of my fave OC clones.
———
When he was a cadet, he was very talkative. He loved interacting with everyone he could. In fact he was nicknamed Natter. But the Trainers and Kaminoans felt his personality wasn’t suited to being a soldier.
The Kaminoans reconditioned him (though something went wrong during the process and screwed up some of his memories as well as being far more of a change than they’d planned) and ever since he’s been shy and quiet, he’ll hunch his shoulders and make himself small and keep to the shadows and out of the way. He can get anxious in a loud room with too many people or when he’s singled out for being different.
He kept his bookish want to learn everything personality, but went from being talkative and wanting to tell people to being isolated and keeping it to himself.
He’s still a very skilled shot and fighter and passed all his tests, but he was very isolated and would far rather sit and read than spend time hanging out with his vode. It was a complete 180 and not much more desirable than Natter had been. Of course he didn’t remember being Natter, and he was placed with a different squad. He had a lot of issues on Kamino, never fitting in. He was always a little lonely and never felt like he fit in.
Not only is he shy, but he’s also 2 inches shorter than the rest of the clones. They don’t know why, but he’s closer to Fett’s height than a normal clone’s. Fix will later theorise it had something to do with the decommissioning gone wrong, the mix of chemicals and the issues they had with it, but at the end of the day it was a miracle that he managed to get through Kamino without being decommissioned.
All of these things are reasons he was sent off to the Guard, but it was better than being decommissioned, which would have been the other option, Jedi intervention or not. (You think the Kaminoans really stopped after the Jedi showed up).
When he first showed up he was assigned to be a Senatorial Guard, but within a week he was reassigned to the ARF unit.
He’d been on shift and he’d been singled out for being small, including jokes by the Senator talking about sending him back to Kamino because clearly he wasn’t done growing yet, and as soon as he’d been able to get off shift he’d found a supply cupboard and shut himself in and curled up behind the items in there to cry.
Hound had been walking past with Grizzer and Grizzer had stopped by the door and started pawing at it. Hound of course investigated and met a shiny having a panic attack. He helped him through it and sat with him and made sure he was ok and knew he was safe and that his brothers wouldn’t let him be sent away for his defects.
Grizzer curled up on his lap and he kept himself calm by scratching behind his ear. Hound asked if he’d be more comfortable with the mastiffs and being a part of the ARF and that was that.
His siblings had never put him in harms way before, and a few even tried to cover for him, but he’d never fit in and they’d never gone out of their way to help before. So he latched onto Hound.
Within a month most of the Vode had nicknamed him Hounds little shadow. He’s always a few steps behind him.
Hound trusts him with everything, including his plans to help his vode. Pup is the last person anyone would expect to be a part of anything like that. The library card and access to reading resources was for him more than anyone else.
Whenever Pup finds something that catches his interests, he’ll learn everything he can about it. That’s nothing new, but since his reconditioning he’d keep it all to himself. He didn’t even remember Natter, but he knew the holes in his personality and shaking hand and problems he had came from having been too talkative. Hound is always willing to listen no matter how random it may be and proves himself that it’s safe for Pup to talk. That nothing will happen to him if he does.
It’s actually helped Hound with cases or saved his life more than once. He never thought he’d need to know the difference between yellow tipped giant butterflies and yellow point hawk moths but it saved Hound and a dozen civilians. He gave Pup the biggest hug and a bag of chocolates in thanks.
Pup loves the Mastiffs. The first time Hound ever saw him smile properly was with them, and for too long it was the only time they’d see him laugh or talk. That he’d talk to the mastiffs about everything, conversations his vode were horribly upset to realise he’d never have with them. Hound had noticed, but the others also brought it to his attention. They worried about him, but Hound assured them he’d open up in time if he wanted, and that if they proved they’d listen, he’d start to talk. There were more important things than conversations anyway, and making sure every member of the CG feels safe and comfortable at the very least with each other is a large part of that.
Pup got his name, as previously stated here, after a group of rowdy drunk GAR soldiers made a scene on shore leave. Hound and Pup were on patrol and stepped in. The other clones started mocking them for being paper pushers and spending all their time playing with the doggies and one of them recognised Hound.
They all started making jokes about Hound and his new little pup, mocking his size and the way they stood with Hound slightly between him and them in case they proved a threat. In the end Hound and Pup arrested all five of them, (two taken down by Hound, 2 by Pup and 1 by Grizzer) and they were all thrown in the drunk tank.
While filling out the paperwork Hound called him vod’ika and he relied with Pup.
Hound just smiled and offered a hug.
Pup went back to that supply room for panic attacks or just to be alone and think more than once after that first time, but was more and more willing to call Hound for help. Eventually Hound cleared it out and added other things so he could go there if he needed seclusion without the chance of someone accidentally walking in looking for the supplies.
The Guard is very isolated from the rest of the GAR, but they try to make sure no one ever feels isolated within it. Finding out that Pup had felt that way upset them, but they understood it and understood that sometimes Pup wanted to take some time for himself.
There’s a difference between isolated and taking some time for yourself.
They’re all fine with Pup being on his own when he wants to be, but they want to make sure he never ever feels isolated or alone. That he always knows his siblings are there for him. He slowly started opening up to them too, and he still keeps to himself, but he’s not lonely anymore. He has people to go to and talk to if he wants to now.
It wasn’t long after he got his name that he started to help vode after nightmares. He couldn’t sleep and had been reading when one of his vode had woken with a cry. He’d remembered what Hound always did to Gelo people, and did the same. He’s not sure when it stopped being him going to help and started being their coming to him, but he doesn’t complain. He didn’t want to.
He loves helping them because it’s right and because they accept him and love him. He’s never lonely anymore.
Pup, as I said, is 2 inches shorter than normal clones. His eyes are the typical amber and he kept his hair regulation cut at first, but started to grow it out so it could be longer and curly once he settled into the Guard. He’s wanted to dye it more than once but can never decide on a good colour and as far as the rest of the vode know (except Inky) he has no tattoos. Inky did one on his inner ankle of a mastiff pup. He has a lot of scars, many from trainers on Kamino for growing slowly or hesitating of anything he did wrong. He has scars he doesn’t remember earning he thinks Natter earned. He also has a few from the Guard including missing a chunk of his ear and a scar on his lip. He also has some scary ones on his neck he refuses to tell anyone about. He’s missing two fingers on his right hand, the pinky and ring, but he found a way to pad the glove in his armour so as long as he’s wearing gloves no one ever knows. His medical file states he lost them in a training accident, that’s all he’d tell Fix anyway. (Fix knows he came from a Senators office and not the training yard, but he doesn’t push. Pup isn’t the first to lie about an injury dealt by a Senator who hates the clones, he won’t be the last.)
His favourite colour is the CG red, he painted little paw prints on his armour along with the typical cog and gear designs and his helmet has similar grey and red markings to Hounds but the red and grey are in opposite places. In an act of defiance he painted the two missing fingers on his gloves red too, the rest of the gloves are black.
———
So anyway, that’s Pup. He’s one of my fave OCs and deserves love. :-).
Thanks for asking. I love talking about this AU and my characters within it.
community study group and their favourite taylor swift albums
no one asked but whatever i say is completely right
jeff winger: reputation
he wouldn’t admit it but britta would probably make him listen to taylor swift after he makes an offhand comment and he would secretly like it even though he complains. he barely uses spotify (he probably uses soundcloud or yt music or something stupid) so taylor swift ends up coming up as his top artist of the year LMAO
britta perry: lover
lover is probably taylor’s most white feminist album (lmao sorry) so it would probably be britta’s favourite as well. although the group would probably use “you need to calm down” against her, but it’ll only be shortlived as she’ll probably britta it
annie edison: fearless
annie would listen to fearless and belt it thinking it applies to her. plus she probably grew up with it more than the others. when “fifteen” comes on she would definitely get into it. i would also like to believe she had a big crush on taylor swift in her fearless era bc lesbian icon yk
troy barnes: 1989
1989 has taylor’s most popular hits so imo it’s likely he would vibe with it the most because he would know the lyrics and tune from the radio. he would absolutely LOVE songs like shake it off (him doing the rapping with abed and annie !!) and bad blood. he probably won’t relate to the actual lyrics as much as say annie but he just likes the melody yk yeah
abed nadir: evermore
honestly he probably wouldn’t listen on his own accord but with encouragement from britta, he would. i think he is an evermore stan because i am. but also ?? ABED WITH CLOSURE ???? absolutely going feral anyway
shirley bennett: speak now
shirley would definitely channel her passive aggressiveness through speak now. like her screaming better than revenge ?? CANON. generally she has the energy of someone who would like her older albums as well, so speak now would be her favourite.
pierce hawthorne: taylor swift
i’m new to the community fandom and idk yalls general thoughts on pierce so ill keep this short and simple lol he’ll like country music so he’ll probably like her first first album from when she entered the industry as a country singer
