i know i said i did not want to talk about the nolan odyssey but i do have one more nodyssey post in me. i actually think the idea of odysseus understanding his story as existing both in and out of a historic timeframe is a fun way to handle the liminality caused by the story being part of an extensive oral tradition. however having him say "our age of bronze is collapsing" is perhaps not the way i would have done that

They really focusing on Yukimiya in England Match... that means something will happen to Yukimiya in future chapters.

There can be many possibilities. Think about how Karasu was focused on during the France match (he owns it ngl 😭). At first, Karasu quietly followed Isagi's way. You could even see small panels of Karasu appearing throughout the chapters, hinting at his character development. Then Hugo mentioned "second best", and that's when Karasu locked in.

Something similar could happen to Yukki in the England match. Maybe the England match is focusing on him for a reason. So here are some things that could happen to him:

1. Yukimiya unlocking a new sword variation

Remember how, during the NEL arc, Yukimiya unlocked new skills like "Sword Screw" and scored? During the 2 weeks training , Yukimiya was also shown training with a katana. His name, "Kenyu", can also be associated with meanings like "excellent sword", "graceful sword", or "gentle sword".

There could even be a backstory showing what he did during the training arc, similar to Bachira and Rin. Who knows? Maybe he'll unlock a new level of his sword aura.

2. A confrontation with Isagi over "God"

Okay, okay, another round of Yukisagi arguing on the field. Knsr could intentionally put Yukimiya in this match because Yukki used to believe in God but eventually started seeing Isagi as his "new God". Maybe in the middle of the match, Yukki will stop believing in Isagi and return to his old way of thinking, where he puts his faith in God instead. However, Isagi and Yukimiya will still get along in the end.

3. Yukimiya getting b*ind/injured

Idk when this could happen, esp since England seems to be playing defensively. Maybe he could get hit while running or during a physical challenge.

Him getting blind isn't possible since Ego is already aware of Yukki's eye condition. I feel like Ego may have already talked to Yukki 1-on-1 about how he should manage it during the England match.

I'm still worried about it tho coz imagine Yukimiya playing the entire 90 minutes match. His vision could potentially become a major limitation once he gets exhausted.

4. Yukimiya getting manipulated

Maybe an England player could manipulate Yukki into following their ideology or playstyle. BLUE LOCK WILL BE HELLA COOKED. 😭 It could create a parallel with Karasu following Hugo's ideology. (Just a guess)

5. Yukimiya's nickname changing

It might not be "1-on-1 Emperor", "Sinking Ship", or even "Heart of the Sword". Maybe he'll get something completely different. Hopefully it'll be peak, just like Hiori getting the "Ice Lord" nickname in this upcoming arc.

6. Yukimiya scoring a hat-trick, a goal or assisting Isagi

Yukki could score with Isagi's assist (like NEL arc) or maybe from Reo, Hiori, Zantetsu, Bachira, Karasu or someone else. Coz I didn't saw them assisting Yukki b4 and would love to see someone else assisting for Yukimiya. If not, we can have Yukki assisting for Isagi to score a goal while developing "gun and sword" aura like Deadpool and Wolverine vibe HAHAHHA.😭😭😭

7. Yukimiya getting subbed off in the 2nd half

Like I said, I'm not confident for him to stay on for the entire match, esp him with eye condition. Maybe he'll get subbed off while Bachira or Chigiri comes on. If he can survive in the entire match, that would be peak!

8. Yukimiya using Predator Eye more

YESSS! This is something I really want to see because we didn't get to see him use it that much during the PXG match.Hopefully, he'll make much better use of it in this match.

9. Yukimiya unlocking a new ego

Who knows? Who knows? It could happen.

10. Teddy Being Yukimiya's Rival

Since Hiori mentioned on no one beating Teddy 1-on-1s or smt. Teddy is apparently both a winger and a dribbler, it would make sense for Yukimiya to become one of his rivals. Although I'm still leaning more toward Bachira being Teddy's main rival. Like why Teddy is hitting Bachira's face with a ball? HELLO? Honestly, I would LOVE to see Yukki and Bachira dealing with this Teddy guy together.

This is a great list, OP! If you don't mind me adding my two cents—I actually think there's a lot of credibility to your tenth bullet point.

Yukimiya's favorite soccer player (and the irl player he's based on) is Edgar Davids, one of the greatest living midfielders. During his career, his play style was compared to that of his rival, another midfielder named Matías Almeyda. However, Almeyda described Davids as being more "offensive-minded", while he himself focused on defense to support his team.

Teddy Knight, despite being a winger/forward, describes himself as a worthless puppet, that only exists to serve and be used by his teammates. In contrast, Yukimiya has had moments where he's almost hyper-independent, such as during his conflict with Isagi where he refused to pass to him, and went as far as to interfere with Isagi's play during the BM vs MC game to try and score by himself.

Like Davids and Almeyda, Yukimiya and Teddy play the same position, but their differing mindsets will undoubtedly affect how they approach their roles, providing offense/attack vs defense/support respectively.

(Also: knights and swords?? Come on now.)

Ofc this is all very speculative, but Kaneshiro frequently adapts real life into the story, so I can see the next match playing out this way. Yukimiya's been due for some screentime anyway, and a chemical reaction between him and Bachira would be super cool.
