Keke was in his room, sad and anxious. His father had left him on read again, and he felt bad for not being able to help his mother.
He sighed, defeated, and simply sat down at his desk to play his keyboard piano.
"...If only I could make someone happy with my music. Maybe...I wouldn't feel so useless."
UMI'S LORE!!! 🌊
tw - mention of suicide and bullying
Umi always lived in a troubled home. His parents weren't bad, but they weren't the best either. Umi loved them very much until he decided to talk to them seriously about his gender identity. His parents didn't take it well, and because of that, they started neglecting him a lot. Umi was sad about the little attention his parents paid to him, so he decided to hang out with bad people.
In middle school, he met his first boyfriend, Yamato. A troubled boy, but at least he cared about him (or so Umi thought). Umi witnessed his boyfriend bullying different people, especially one boy in particular. He thought he could ignore the situation as long as he wasn't involved, but that would eventually come back to haunt him.
One day, he received a text from his boyfriend, urgently asking him to bring a scalpel from the lab to the back of the school. Umi didn't think twice and simply went. When he arrived, he found Yamato and his friends bullying a boy, but not just any boy. It was Cato, known for being the one who suffered the most abuse at Yamato's hands and also for being his cousin. Umi was horrified by the scene, and he figure out why his boyfriend had called him.
"Did you bring what I asked for? Give it to me"
Yamato said with his usual calm demeanor, but this time it terrified him. Umi didn't know how to react and simply agreed to hand the weapon over to Yamato. He exchanged a few glances with Cato and then made an excuse to leave quickly.
"It's not my problem, it's not my business. I shouldn't get involved."
A week after the accident, Cato's family and the police arrived at the school. They demanded that Cato point out who was responsible for the permanent scar they had caused him. Umi wasn't even paying attention until the whole class started staring at him.
Cato was pointing the finger at him.
The truth was, Cato couldn't implicate his cousin. He was afraid of ruining the family and, even worse, angering Yamato. Cato simply remembered the only face he had seen on that tragic day.
The days after that were the worst for Umi. His parents, alerted by the police, decided to kick him out of the house. Umi was bullied inside and outside of school, forcing him to drop out for a whole year. He was paying for his silence; he knew he deserved it.
"If only I had done something sooner..."
...
"Will the waves be kind to me?"
Umi, tired of everything, decided to go to the sea. He was ready to end it all and "pay" for his misdeeds. In the end, that's what would calm everything, right?
Umi snapped out of his thoughts when he heard a melody among the waves.
It was a sad but comforting melody; it was a song.
After listening to it, Umi, for a moment, after having been alone for so long, felt embraced.
He quickly got out of the sea and tried to find where the melody was coming from, but he had no luck. Even so, something changed inside him that day. He wanted to find the composer of that melody. And so began Umi's new life.
He worked hard and tirelessly until he finally managed to get his own apartment. He met new people, legally changed his name, and began to dedicate his life to music.
Every night, Umi tries to recreate the melody he heard that day, but he can't. It's not as perfect as the original.
Umi doesn't know that he known the composer of that melody for a loooong timeeeee
HELLO AGAIN! IM BACK WITH TWO REDESIGNS!! That's right, I decided to redesign both Kazutoshi and Ken! I had different ideas and, quite honestly, like these two way more! I gave Kazutoshi's hair a resemblance to.. you know, a Jellyfish, and I decided to give Ken the feathery tail of a Owl, because I just liked the idea :D More designs are coming soon!
