i’ve been discreetly leaving this in the tags hoping someone will notice.
it’s misquoted from that scene where dylan finally steps out on stage with the horseman, and says something like “these men destroy people’s lives…and they do that by hiding in the dark, so in the horsemen tradition we’re here to expose them. tonight they, like all of us, are finally stepping into the light.”

merritt was betrayed by his own family and the four horsemen are his chosen family, lula grew up in a violent household, jack is a thief who stole off the people he got close to until the horsemen, and dylan is an orphan.

dating in storybrooke must be like “hi, how are you? before we continue with our main course, are you in anyway related to, had sex with, or otherwise familial to these people?”
i hope in every single now you see me they keep the tradition of changing atlas’s haircut so in now you forty me they have to mix it up with a dyed mohawk or an eye shaved into his buzzcut or something…

there’s a lot of deleted scenes from the trailers that may have cut out a lot of things that help this movie make sense??
*spoilers under the cut + in tags*
• there was a video left by thaddeus that we never saw
• “eight magicians against a world wide criminal network. i like our chances.” line was chopped
• thaddeus and merritt having a drink together (maybe gave more context to their friendship; he seemed more upset than everyone else about his death?)
• thaddeus’s death scene was weirdly edited
• the reveal seemed like it had several scenes missing, and probably a flashback scene for charlie’s death
• i’m 100% convinced there must have been a scene where charlie did that trick veronika was talking about BEFORE the reveal (like in front of the horsemen) so we got a better clue
• “all the horsemen’s flashback scenes were cut, aka “it’s about to get…wilder?”
• i think they shot about 3 alternative endings and that’s why it seems so weird and clunky. they weren’t sure if they were coming back for a 4th one, and now they are praying they do with that ending
• there was some early mentions of daniel radcliffe appearing in a cut of this movie??? maybe he was cut too
• scene where bosco, june and charlie were in a karaoke bar was cut / alternate daniel appearance “for some reason i need you” / “my atlas was spot on” “i’ll be the judge of that”
• scene with the room with all the mirrors that merritt goes into was cut (he goes into the room and we never see it again) — a scene where henley, charlie and bosco go back there is also cut. this might have helped set up the illusion for later on or something
• “open sesame” “way to represent, merritt” “you never know” “i think you do know”
an extended cut/director’s version of this may slap.
they def filmed several versions and there must be several different endings for that “twist” as well. bc the cast have been saying how clever it is and how the whole movie was a magic trick and how they had to have it explained for the whole press tour…when the twist kind of just makes all the prior events make little to no sense in a worse fashion that nysm1.
fleischer added dylan to the movie during the reshoots which is where i think this final 20 mins starts to get weird. this is speculation but they must have had a version where charlie is not a vanderberg.
