hold on a fucking second. delaware is a state?? i thought it was a river? or is the river more important than the state? why don't i know this? (i should mention i don't like in america, i'm just confused)
there is delaware (state) and delaware (river)
both are equally strange
the state is a tiny little cryptid thing
the rive is a monster that spans new york, pennsylvania, new jersey and delaware. also washington crossed it once and that was like kinda a big deal i guess. like crossing the rubicon in rome.
the state tries to me more important with its “im the first state!!!” bs (seriously its even on the fucking license plates) but we all know. its the river.

Valkyr
Not part of anything longer, just an idea that popped into my head
(Alt text) A short animatic of Valkyr from Warframe launching out of a window, Corpus scientist in hand, as the name "Valkyr" apppears behind her. She then slams the scientist into the floor right in front of the camera.
Magpie Love
“The first rule of love,” her mother says, voice crackling over the phone, “is to never take more than they can give.”
Finola’s eyes dart to the shoebox under her bed and then back out the dorm window. Her room is on the second floor this year and she can see more of the trees than she can see of the grassy space preceding the dining hall. “I know, Mom.”
“Remember.” Her mother’s voice is sharp and Finola can almost see her heavy, thick brows lowering until shadows cover her eyes. “No clothing. No bags. Never any jewelry.”
Finola wraps her free arm around her waist and closes her eyes. The light breeze rolling through the window smells like eucalyptus and mint. Her mouth waters. “I know, Mom.”
“Those are the big things,” her mother says, “but remember that too many of the small things can amount to a big thing.”
The shoebox under the bed gleams in a stray ray of light. Finola licks her lips. “I know, but—I need something. I have to. I feel like she’ll disappear if I don’t.” The words are inadequate for the sick fear in her stomach each time she loses sight of her. The horrible certainty that something bad will happen if she’s not by her side. She rubs a hand over her mouth.
Her mother’s tongue clicks. “That’s old instincts, Finola. Fight it. You don’t want your father and I to pull you out of school, do you?”
The memory of watching her high school fade out of sight surfaces and, in that moment, she’s sixteen again. She can feel her heart beating too fast, the scream ripping out of her throat, the way the ropes chafed her wrists. She can smell her first love’s perfume, cloying peach, in the air. She can feel their separation like a death in the pit of her stomach, radiating up into her chest, her throat, her head.

Happy Audio Drama Sunday! I started a new series and caught up on some new episodes that released this week.
@tellnotalespod S2 E16 - Love is Stored in the Carpet Burn: I didn't cry (maybe because I was driving and had to keep it together) but I definitely got emotional listening to Leo, Riley and Julia talk to Noah. They have their people back! I'm glad they're finally going to do something that makes Frank uncomfortable too. Hopefully they get the answers they need...
@desertskiespodcast Desert Skies FM - Someone Crashes the Show: I love Nonny so much, she is a gem. And her segment on this edition of Desert Skies FM was beautiful. "Something inside of me tells me it's best just to start out loving people, the moment you meet them."
@storiesfromylelmore Episode 201 - The Garden Club: They're back!! I'm so excited that season 2 has started, and this was a great episode to welcome us back. I love the worldbuilding so learning more about the little spirits and the traditions to help them was so much fun. I felt like I was Rion and Elas, with so many questions to begin with and just in awe of the whole process. It was also great seeing more of Keryth's moms and how they interact with the kids and other witches. I love that Keryth and Rion fighting is just them saying each other's names back and forth with different inflections. True friendship right there.
Case Study IREC-A59 Episode 1 - Too Close for Comfort Encounters - Part 2: The crew of the IREC-A59 seem very competent. I'm curious how they're going to proceed in dealing with this human they have on board. The distorted effects when the human is talking are a neat approach, giving us some insight but still not letting us know too much more than the crew themselves (who can't understand the human at all).
@hinaypod Episode 44 - Tula (Poem): Add this one to the (not insignificant) pile of truly creepy Hi Nay episodes. I loved hearing one of DJ's personal stories, and getting more info on what might have happened to the Sauvard family. That reveal at the end though...ahhhhhhhh I'm still not over it!!
@midnightburgr Chapter 37 - The Paradise: MB always has so many things going on and I love it. The Paradise, the Leifs, the wedding, Ava, the wolves, DAVID... incredible.
The Dead Letter Office of @somewhereohio - DLO 1-13: Another podcast created and performed by just one person. I am always in awe. These letters are so good at being normal on the surface, but being a little off, a little wrong... with things getting more and more wrong with every letter. And poor Conway is all caught up in it! I'm curious to see what Wren ends up doing.
does anyone have suggestions for audio dramas with women as main characters/narrators? i feel like most story podcasts are a lot more focused on male characters
Lots! What kind of genre are you looking for? I'll start with some I've listened to (you'll see I adore horror but there's some other stuff in there!)
I have more podcasts to recommend from notes only. And right now I'm mostly avoiding shows that have non-binary narrators and mixed casts that feel more male-forward to me, so
Arden (radio-podcast "true crime" (i.e. fiction presented as-) with two female MCs)
Before The Tone (scifi bureaucracy/psychological horror)
Eeler's Choice (maritime horror fantasy)
Hi Nay (queer folklore monster of the week horror; mixed cast but with a strong female narration element)
KILLJAM X X X (queer cyber/splatterpunk, includes explicit sex scenes)
I Found A Wormhole (sci-fi micro fiction)
Mabel (sapphic dark fantasy, a classic)
Olive Hill ("true crime" mystery)
The Bridge (maritime fantasy with isolation elements)
The Gospel of Haven (meat cult horror, very wet; shared narratorship between a woman and a non-binary person but it's *fantastic* so )
Unwell (Midwestern Gothic mystery)
Within the Wires (different narrators each season but a lot of them are women; each season is standalone and the first two seasons are women so I dare to suggest lol. same creators as Alice Isn't Dead!)
prev: i'm interested in recs with pre-transition narrators/leads 👀
My #1 recommendation is the Dead Letter Office of Somewhere, Ohio. Weird Midwestern Americana horror, and just... so transgender. So queer. So full of hope and rage and wonder and stifling bureaucracy and... uagh I love this podcast so much, it's my absolute favorite ever, and it's just 19 episodes/8 hours. It could change your life in a week, a weekend, a day. I yell about this pod all the time and I don't talk about it enough because I desperately need everyone to listen to it. Just go.
I just finished Station Blue, and gosh. Antarctica isolation horror with an incredible depiction of mental illness; this is where I wish I had spoilers bars because I want to rave about it, but I also imagine people wanting to hear/explore/discover for themselves. The Q&A mentioned that a lot of people picked up on the gender themes, which are to be explored more in S2 and S3. They honestly flew over my head - but I was just Crying and Feeling a lot about other aspects of the show. I look forward to relistening. Note 1: I would recommend reading the content warnings in the show notes. There isn't always a verbal warning. Note 2: the first season was published years ago and Ester Ellis' S2 got delayed by the covid pandemic and life. I'm not sure if/when the other seasons will follow but honestly? I *adore* the S1 ending and I'd be very satisfied if this is it.
My two favorite podcast recs for trans character development are Give Me Away and The Silt Verses
The former is about people going through a process that gives them an alien in their head, who they have to communicate with in earth terms as they figure out how to share a body, and what that means for their identity. The government makes life really fucking hard for these folks because of how they facilitate the process. The setup is a great trans allegory, but then there's a lot of trans/nonbinary characters who are involved. The in depth discussions about the intersection of plural personhood and gender and family acceptance are some real egg cracking stuff.
The Silt Verses are interesting because as opposed to talking through all of the nuances all of the time, you get a bunch of queer characters who have bigger fish to fry in the story but have indelibly queer elements of their background. Magic and gods and body horror type transformations are all very real, and there are plenty of trans characters just kind of dealing with that shit alongside everyone else. Its a beautiful show about systemic problems in capitalism through a fantasy lens. Less egg-crackery and more people dealing with a very complicated world from diverse perspectives.

First day of 2026 is out of touch Thursday - this better be a good fckn year
I'm not sure if I seen any posts going around discussing the recent VERY DETAILED (and honestly kind of poetic in how vitriolic they are) AI generated spambots on AO3.
I feel like I just need to spread the word, because these guys are NASTY. But they aren't real! You can tell that by the fact that they don't mention a fandom, a character, or anything even remotely about the fic itself.
Just wanted to put it out there in case anyone gets one of these and it crushes them. Never stop writing. Writing and story telling is one of the oldest ways of connecting with other humans. It's a gift to this world. Keep writing!!!
this isn’t what i normally post here but firefox just switched ceos and this “anthony” dumbass is trying to put more “ai” slopware into it, meaning more bloat and privacy loss
if you use this browser you should go to their support forums and complain about it
In case anyone missed it, the new CEO posted this: https://blog.mozilla.org/en/mozilla/leadership/mozillas-next-chapter-anthony-enzor-demeo-
MAKE A LOT OF NOISE ON THEIR FORUMS AND SUPPORT. COMPLAIN DIRECTLY TO THEM. THAT'S THE ONLY WAY TO STOP IT.
Seriously. If even a third of the 15k notes on this post equate to users who GO AND COMPLAIN DIRECTLY TO FIREFOX'S SUGGESTIONS AND COMPLAINTS then it's going to be a big backlash that they might even listen to.
was visiting a friend who has a farm, and one of the chickens has a home made flared cone on, so i asked what was up with that and she said "that's diesel, and she's suicidal" so obviously i went ??? and she pressed the door lock on her truck fob so the truck beeped, and this dumbass bird SPRINTED full tilt across the garden to shove her head in the tailpipe. she has to be locked up and coned so she doesn't gulp down toxic fumes direct from the pipe for some idiot bird reason. she is obsessed with doing this and has to be locked up any time someone is using a vehicle.
i told her i posted about this and she has an update (which i guess content warning for animal harm [the animal did it to it's damn fool self])
she found this out the first time when she auto-started her truck to warm it up before work one below-freezing morning and came out ~5 minutes later to find (the then unnamed) diesel with her head stuffed in the tail pipe hanging limply by her idiot neck and thought that she was dead, ran over and pulled her out, and the chicken went "oh hi! anyways mind if i get back in there?" and did it a-fucking-gain??
best guess is bc she feeds her chickens with a pvc gravity pipe like this
and despite having ~40 other chickens who don't fuck this up, diesel went "food comes from tubes, this is tube, ∴ this is the ~secret~ food hole that the others do not know about. i will be rewarded with golden seed for being the cleverest of them all :)" and is now on 24/7 vehicle related suicide watch. fine line between docile and dumb sometimes.
