PLEASE HELP MY FAMILY!!!!

This is my younger cousin Jessica, who has gone missing for a week now. She’s a sweet girl from Memphis, TN. After getting in an argument with her mom, she ran away, and since then no one in my family knows where she has gone or who she is with. All we know is that she has said that she’s safe and has money, but we don’t know if that was really her. Since this looks like a runaway case, the police are giving minimum help.

Please, please, please help us find her. She has found herself in a bad crowd multiple times, and has also been suicidal in the past. All my family wants is to bring her home, but every time we contact her she blocks us.

I love this girl with all my heart, and it want her back home safe!

Haha, I can imagine Jack just internally AOL screeching as both of them turn on him. Vladimir and Isaak are actually big softies when it comes to their little sister, but they’ll still make sure she’s happy and healthy… I imagine Anya would have to quickly explain if they ever saw her scars from The Refuge, bc Vladimir would have Jack pinned to the wall in milliseconds and Isaak would already be pulling Anya behind him after seeing that someone hurt her. Even if Anya always talks about him like he’s her knight in shining armor, they still instantly wonder if her scars are from him being to rough with her or hurting her on purpose.

(Although it’s also hilarious to picture a 5'7" woman who’s under 110 lbs soaking wet just grabbing her mountain of a brother by the war and pulling him off of Jack while scolding him)

They’ll have to have some words about John, though. I mean, they’re totally gonna make up a lie about how the letters mentioning Jack must have gotten lost on the way overseas, but they’re still going to make sure that he will never hurt their sister again and that he’s there to stay for his son and wife. (Also, imagine tiny little John with two huge Russian men just absolutely doting on him and carrying him and just doing whatever he asks them to bc iTS OUR NEPHEW HES SO SMALL)

Sometimes Anya would just go from speaking English to taking a drink of water and continuing in Russian. She gets overexcited easily, but means well. Also, Jack had better be prepared for her to just be sobbing in her brothers’ arms while they hold each other close because of how much she has missed being with her family.

Jack would be even more shocked than they were about getting blamed for the scars, because he’s so determined to protect her.  (But he would DIE if that happened right around the time she’d finally convinced him to be a little rougher with her in bed, and he thought that was what they were talking about, and would just “NO WE’RE NEVER DOING THAT AGAIN NO THANK YOU YOUR BROTHERS WILL KILL ME”) :p

(I think no matter what the verse is Anya will find herself pulling giant men off Jack.  Exhibit B: Evgeny.)

He would try to convince them, but he’d also understand how bad it looks, and how much they want to protect her.  His word is all he can give, but he’d do his best to make it worth something.  (ALSO JOHN PROBABLY THOUGHT JACK WAS HUGE BUT THEN AFTER MEETING HIS UNCLES IT’S LIKE HUGE DAD 2.0)

Haha, Anya would absolutely be dying if he panicked about getting in trouble because she wanted to spice things up. She’d probably roll her eyes and explain that, being two married men in their thirties, they understand the difference between scars from abuse and a fading bruise or two from sex. Vodka is one hell of an aphrodisiac, or at least the best way to make questionable bedroom decisions.

(Evgeny is more of a jealous “no she’s MY wife now you can’t take her from me” kind of protective, because he worries she’ll up and leave him with John if Jack ever asked her to. However, that doesn’t mean he should threaten Jack if he ever tries to steal his wife away, no matter how much he loves her and would die for her)

Anya would finally just snap, “we all know I would slit his throat while he slept if he ever got unnecessarily violent towards me or our son! He didn’t give me the scars, they came from a long time ago…” and kinda shrink into Jack because she suddenly realized that they’ll want to know what happened and she’s not a fan of recounting the stories of The Refuge. Also, Vladimir and Isaak would be ready to go dig Snyder up so they can burn his body and dance on the ashes when they found out what he did to their little sister. They’re THAT level of protective. (Poor John probably goes to school telling everyone that when he's older he'll be a giant like everyone else in his family)

We’ve talked about Anya being around Jack’s aggressively Irish friends and family, but what about Jack meeting Anya’s older brothers (and last surviving family members sans her aunts and uncles) that stayed behind in Russia to finish school.

Like, Jack is expecting two kinda quiet twins, but instead he gets two 6'3" men who greet Anya by shouting “Zdravstvuj, moya malen'kaya zolotaya!” At her before Isaak and Vladimir literally pick her up and hug her (That means hello my little golden one btw) before turning on Jack and grilling him on who his is, his relationship with Anya, if he has a job, if they have an apartment, if Anya has a job, when was John born, etc. They may love their little sister and realize that she’s an adult, but she’ll always be the little baby that was born when they were seven years old and always chased after them no matter how rough they were playing to them.

Also, Jack will probably have to keep reminding them that he doesn’t speak Russian just like they don’t speak Gaelige. They know English almost as well as they know Russian, but it’s still easier for them to snap back into their own language now that they’re together.

Jack would be slightly worried about them killing him, not gonna lie. :p  Like, he would be super glad Anya got to meet her family again, but he’s not sure how her two older brothers will feel about the fact that he accidentally got her pregnant and accidentally had no idea for five years.

He would probably let them talk together at first, but eventually, once they made it clear that they were including him in the conversation, he’d point out that he had no idea what they were asking.

“You were scared?” Anya practically screamed, baring her teeth. “What did you have to be afraid of— the fact that you were able to run away with your tail between your legs while I had to stay here and figure things out for myself should be all you needed to realize that your fears were nothing in comparison to mine. Do not come to me whining about how afraid you were when I was the one who picked up the pieces you had left behind and created a new life for myself.” Her face was red as she let out the anger she had been holding in, every muscle tensed as she waited for him to scream back. She stared at him with pain and hate in her eyes, the brokenness she felt coming through. “Friends?” She asked, laughing bitterly. “Friends do not do what we did that night… even now you still do not get it I loved you with my heart and my soul, enough that I would have followed you anywhere, and you decided to leave.”

She turned away from him, deciding whether or not she was going to walk away or not. Every part of her wanted to be the one to walk away this time, but the same part that caused her to cry also caused her to want to stay. “My child deserves more than a father who only stays because it is the right thing to do, Jack.”

If you don’t believe Russian fairy tales are hardcore, remember that in “The Death of Koschei the Deathless”, Prince Ivan first encounters Princess Marya Morevna amid a field of corpses spanning from horizon to horizon, which turn out to be an invading army that the Princess has just slain in battle, apparently single-handedly. She then invites him into her tent and spends two days and nights banging his brains out, and that’s how he ends up getting married.

(Later, the Princess goes off to fight another war and leaves Ivan to look after the housekeeping, with strict instructions not to go into a particular basement. Of course he disobeys, and finds the eponymous Koschei the Deathless bound in enchanted chains, because apparently keeping immortal sorcerers chained up in your closet is just a thing that you do when you’re Princess Marya Morevna. The subsequent accidental unbinding sets off the main plot, making this tale one of the relatively few instances of the traditional forbidden-room device in which the disobedient spouse is the husband rather than the wife.)

Yeah, “Vasilisa the Beautiful” is also a pretty good one - though personally, I prefer the versions where it’s clear that Baba Yaga is fully aware that she’s being used as an unwanted stepchild disposal service, and she resents it, so she’s torn between free child meat and taking the opportunity to give the stepmother an ironic comeuppance. You don’t often get to see her conflicted like that!
