“Hello,”

[Hector greets you warmly and Marrow… Doesn’t greet you at all, but is also extremely warm. You can even smell the faint scent of cooking meat… Oh, wait, that’s just Marrow.]

“I’d say it’s… Nice? I’m enjoying it. The ponytail’d idiot is as well. But I appreciate you asking, pet.”

[He flashes you a short-lived grin as he mentions the “ponytail’d idiot,” clearly meaning Marrow. As he gestures to them, they are both nowhere… And literally everywhere.]

[He seems to have no words, but he knows Marrow will be fine.]

“You know what, why don’t we just go back to talking.”

[Hector takes this as an invitation, crouching down to your height. Pulling his cigarette from between his lips, he blows the smoke away from you. As he waves it away, he presses a kiss to your cheek instead.]

“All is forgiven, pretty boy.”

[Maybe Bumble was the one who needed sunscreen with how red her face had become. It was quite hard to stun her to such a level, but he had accomplished it with ease.]

[She covered her face, absolutely mortified that she had lost her composure. Bumble squirmed, fidgeting with the ties of her swimsuit as she muttered out some words—though it was pretty much impossible to hear clearly]

“You’re red.”

[Hector points out blankly before slowly turning to look at you. You can almost hear a comical rock turning noise as he does so…]

“I taste good? Thanks, sweetness. I’ve only ever heard that line from potential cannibals.”

[Hector barks out a laugh at both how flustered you are and his own joke, his expression soon falling to a blank one again. He really is amused by this situation and how flustered you are, it just seems as though he’s struggling to show it.]

“Had I known you were this easy to fluster, my love, I think I would have acted bolder in the attic.”

Jekyll gives Rusty a blank stare. Did... Is he flirting with him? As the realization sets in so does the blush on his face. Then a loud whine is heard from said man, and it seems like he can still pull off his coyote noises. He hides his face in his hands and rubs at his burning skin to try and soothe the flush. Then, he takes a glance back up at Rusty with an even bigger smile on his face.

"How dare you try to break my brain when I just got it fixed," he whines with a giggle, "that's so mean!" He complains, but the grin he has shows he likes it. His ears pin back against his head as he huffs and stops his foot. The nickname ''yote' in particular seems to have really flustered him, he can't make eye contact at all now.

"This is bullying," he mumbles while crossing his arms. The whole time he's trying to get rid of the grin he has, but his efforts are all in vain...

Not to mention his tail hasn't stopped wagging for a second.

“Oh yes,”

[Hector regards you calmly, his expression and tone flat. His liveliness is short lived, as it maybe… tired him out emotionally? Still, he continues to egg on the situation, despite his voice slowly going monotone.]

“I forgot that flirting with pretty boys is bullying. Goodness, silly me.”

[He makes a slow gesture, one of false realization. Hector is most definitely pretending to care about the fact that his words are ones that fluster you.]

“I just thought it was right to flirt with what’s mine, anyways.”

[With a shrug, he cracks a grin before… Putting a new cigarette in his mouth and lighting it.]

[He blinks once, twice… Hector clearly believes he hasn’t heard you correctly.]

“Not if I… Get you first? Also it’s physically impossible for you to… Do that, love. I do not understand this banter, is this how it’s supposed to go?”

[While digging in her bag, Bumble remembered one of the things she had purchased. She pulled out a lollipop, one that resembled the Bat-Signal. Now that she thought of it, did Rusty even like sweets? Afterall, She had impulsively bought it for him.]

[Bumble holds out the lollipop, looking a little embarrassed. Did she seem childish? Possibly. Though she did hope he would like the gift—even if he doesn't eat it.]

“What’s that? A… Lollipop? Weird thing to have on you.”

[Hector eyes the candy you offer him for a moment, taking the cigarette he just so happened to light a moment ago and putting it out between his index finger and thumb. Ouch. He doesn’t react though, as the tobacco filled stick is no longer burning and instead, he tucks it behind his ear to use later. Soon, the lollipop is hesitantly taken from your hand.]

“Thanks, honeybee… That’s very thoughtful of you.”

[Unwrapping the candy, he shoves the wrapper into his pocket, popping the stick into his mouth as he continues watching the waves. A pleased hum comes from him as he pulls the lollipop from his mouth. He turns his head to look down at you before muttering.]

“Here, try this, it’s not that bad, actually…”

[Before you can refuse, he’s slouching to your height and grabbing your face with one hand. What you thought would be the lollipop suddenly shoved in your face, is actually the complete opposite — Hector’s face comes close to yours as his lips meet with yours, his tongue dragging across your own. The oddest way to share a lollipop, that much is obvious… But he wasn’t lying, the flavor was definitely enjoyable… Aside from the smallest hint of cigarette smoke. Quickly, he pulls away from your face, letting go before staring at the string of spittle connecting the two of you… Only to break it with the lollipop, twirling the sweet as he pops it back into his mouth.]

“Tastes good, right?”

[It’s as if he doesn’t realize how out of pocket his action was.]

As soon as he sees Rusty, Jekyll is immediately bounding over with a new found energy he's never felt before. He's not all over the place when running, and he seems a lot more aware of what he's doing.

"Rusty, Rusty," he shouts up at the taller man, "you look great! Oh my God I feel great! Do you feel great? I feel great!" The words fly out of his mouth as he hops from foot to foot in front of the former HVAC system. His fake eye somehow shows even more joy than his real one, it having a star instead of a typical iris. The clothes he's wearing are very bright compared to what he used to wear, and is his hair short? That's very knew. In general he looks so much brighter than before, like he had life pumped straight into his veins.

"It's so nice being able to talk," he giggles out, "and the bugs are quiet for once! No more headaches or mean comments!" He squeals and then diga through his pocket. Soon enough he pulls out a small bit of blue and orange sea glass. The grin on his face goes all the way up to his eyes, showing off his sharp snaggle teeth with pride.

"I found this for you! I hope you like it!"

[Hector lets out a rough laugh, gravelly and genuinely excited sounding. Your excitement seems infectious as the older male offers you a smile. A crooked one, but a smile, nonetheless.]

“Yes, yes, I’d say I feel pretty good. I haven’t felt this good since… Someone turned me purple. You certainly look good.”

[Hector’s grin seems a tad mischievous for a moment as he regards you, his compliment almost seeming as though he’s… flirting? Perhaps he is? You’ll never know. Or will you…? He’s definitely flirting with you. As you present the sea glass to him, Hector also seems to perk up, an odd sense of enjoyment filling him as he takes the glass from your hands.]

“Well, well… Seems my little ‘yote has a good eye for finding things just as pretty as himself.”

[Hector raises the glass to the sun, tilting it in ways so he can watched the colored light filter through. He doesn’t even acknowledge the fact that he’s flat out complimented you, but at least you know he did it? It’s a nice change.]

“No hard feelings, love. I doubt you understood the repercussions of the… Vinegar, anyways.”

[Hector’s previously aggressive demeanor has seemingly disappeared, as the older gentleman now seemed to have mellowed out. He offers you a shrug, fixing his shirt as he shoves his hands into the pockets of his black swim trunks. Truly, he holds no malice towards you in the moment.]

“Besides, I’d be curious about Volt too. Just… Let’s not bring it up again, alright? Please? I’d prefer it that way.”

[Taking one hand out of the pockets, he sets it on your head, ruffling your hair. It’s a gentle display, one you likely didn’t expect, but at least you know he’s willing to be affectionate… Despite what you’ve done.]

[Bumble gently tapped Rusty's arm—light as a feather that he probably barely even felt it.]

[She gestured over to the others, who were already running around. Bumble shook her head with a grin, digging in a bag to find the sunscreen. She noticed how Rusty seemed.. out of it—making her pause her search]

“Jarring? That’s… An understatement…”

[The HVAC— The… Human? He doesn’t know what he is anymore, all this magic seems to be messing with him. His head is foggy, he feels dizzy, the sounds are so overwhelming and— Sunscreen?]

“What? Yeah. Yeah, I suppose I could… But, I don’t think I actually need any, I’ll be fine. Marrow and the others need it more.”

[Hector brushes you off quietly, taking in the sight of the beach. His initial shock and fear seem to subside as his eyes trail over the sand, water — and the rest of the fools running across the beach. Slowly, Hector stands next to you, blinking a few times.]

“Is this something… You get to see all the time? Something outside of the attic and that Druid neighborhood? It’s nice.”

[Hector’s disbelief is hanging heavy in the air… And so is the smell of a roasting Marrow, who is indeed, already burning.]

holy lord take care of urself mod, take ur time

|| ~ using this as a reason to blurb but I’m decent now. Somewhat. I decided to finally answer asks again as I do not want to leave everyone in the mud while I just rot away somewhere else. I’m still doing a little rough, but I’m alright, so thank you. Ask box may go on/off though as it’s a tad tricky to keep up with the inbox at times lol. As a treat, here’s a realized Rust Hector doodle I messily made.

ANON MAGIC- BEACH EPISODE FOR THE NEXT 10-15 ASKS- gotta make sure as many people as possible can get in on it-

[Suddenly, the environment changes! What was once floorboards becomes sand, the house seems to completely disappear and… The smell and sound of the ocean takes over. Palm trees move with the salty breeze and Hector stands up, taking in his surroundings.]

[There’s no pain again… He can’t tell whether he should be happy this time or distant, as he knows this won’t last forever. Then again, this is a place he’s always wanted to be. Yet, he looks terrified. His leg hurts, yet he stands as still as possible, glancing at everyone nearby. Oh boy.]

[…You can hear the faint noise of… A potential circus that’s quite possibly digital. A welcoming theme, if you will.]

“…What the fuck is going on this time.”

I THROW VINEGAR AT RUSTY AND RUN AWAY

“What are you—“

[A loud, inhuman hiss escapes Hector as the vinegar makes contact with his rusted, mechanical body. It sounds painful. It sounds… Agonizing, the noises he happens to be making. His hands are violently scratching and picking at the portion of rust that just so happened to be hit by the vinegar.]

[He sounds like he’s damn near dying.]

[This was a mistake. While Hector now reeks of vinegar and more rust, the now wet rust begins to ooze off of him and onto the ground… Only to leave behind a nasty dent and hole. Even if your intention was to help, you’ve only made this worse.]

“What is wrong with you, why would you do that— It HURTS— GET OUT!”

[Turning away from you, Hector hisses and whines in pain, trying to cover the still rusted hole in his chest. The pain for him is like no other. He’s already throwing up what seems to be rusted water, mold and… Now vinegar.]

[ 💔 Your relationship with Hector has changed.]

Jekyll immediately leans his head into Marrow's hand and wiggles where he sits. His eye is locked in the other taxidermy and doesn't blink at all. Then, after a few seconds of struggling, he manages a crude smile that stretches across his face. It's clear that he's not used to smiling in the slightest, but he seems happy enough to at least try. Then he leans forward and bonks his and Marrow's foreheads together before licking their cheek without any hesitation. It's not long before he's bolted from their spot over to the HVAC unit while wiggling still.

He carefully places the small car down on the ground so it's facing the HVAC unit, gently taps one of his claws against the HVAC doors, and then bounds back over to Marrow with pure glee on his face. The coyote doesn't hesitate to get cozy with the other taxidermy while waiting to see Rusty's reaction to the gift. He can't stop squirming around with that goofy grin on his face.

[As your smile grows, so does Marrows… If that is even possible. Which, realistically, it probably isn’t, as their smile is painfully big. Upon being licked though, Marrow lets out what can only be described as a grunt. They carefully shift their head, sticking their tongue out a bit as it… runs over your own? How scandalous.]

[A whine comes from Marrow at your sudden departure, watching as you deliver the toy to the HVAC unit… One second the car is there and the next… The toy is gone. As abruptly as it’s been snatched up, you don’t even get the chance to see the unit door open or shut. But you can hear the toy car being ran in, presumably, a circle. Someone’s having fun in there.]

“I think he likes it.”

[Marrow mumbles to you, glancing at the unit before focusing on you again. As you get cozy, they shift and move around, making an effort to lick your face this time… And nip at the skin of your neck. They’re far more affectionate this time.. Possibly jealous of Hector in the moment. Regardless, you seem to be doted on, one way or the other by them… But your shared affection may have to wait. Wink wink.]

I cuddle with Marrow, leaving the old man to do his own thing. I share my snacks with them as we cuddle. I sometimes bite at them in an affectionate nature-🏳️‍⚧️🌡

[Instead of actual snacks, Marrow chooses to chew on your hands. Their teeth never break the skin, softly gnawing at your knuckles. It’s an affectionate gesture, animalistic if you will. But they seem content. It’s rather domestic, compared to what they do with the other people that visit the attic.]

[…The moment is quite nice. Probably the nicest one you’ve had in a while, inside this attic.]

[Bumble pauses, her cheeks regaining that rosy glow. She bit her bottom lip with a playful glint in her eyes]

“I have more than teeth, tongues come in handy too, you know and fingers.. And- And I can bite more than just your neck if you only ask—“

[Again, Marrow is hit with another boot. The other object throwing the boots seems to be out of… Boots to throw, but the loud sound of metal clanging against Marrow’s head seems to echo in the attic… And make them behave again.]
