Miksha laughed lightly. She hadn’t expected to scare the other. “Can I really that scary Ryan? I’m just a poor mother in her 30’s. I don’t see how that’s heart attack inducing.” She said through a string of light laughs. “I highly doubt Ranjan is rubbing off on me. Did you ever think he maybe learned those things from me?”
“Ye are when ye sneak up on me like that” he laughed and held his chest “My poor heart” He did contemplate that Ranjan could have learned his tricks from his mother “Nah, not unless yer both teamin’ up to defeat me...wait...ye are! It’s a damn conspiracy” he joked “Ranjan and I are goin’ tae have words”
“Armpit? How charmin’ as always” she grinned and laughed. As much as they fought as kids, Merida always enjoyed chatting to Ryan. They’re conversations were never afraid to poke fun at each other “Awk I’ll take a holiday when ya finally decide to put on a shirt” she laughed and tied up her red curls before starting up the treadmill “I’ve been good thanks. It has…How’ve ye been?”
“Ye come intae my gym, throwin’ the nickname butthead around and don’t expect me to reply with armpit? Shame on ye” he laughed, continuing to run alongside his dearest redhead “Alright, i’ll put on a shirt in celebration of ye taking a holiday. Deal?” he suggested, hoping to close up the childish argument they always seemed to get into “I’ve been grand. The gym is busy and my ma’am seems to be doing okay”
With New Years came the influx of people with the new year’s resolution to get fit. Even if most of them disappeared after a few weeks, the redhead respected that quite a bit, wanting to make a change and going for it. Plus, it paid her bills.
The sentiment still remained the same even after the day was winding down at The Sweat Shop, when her training sessions were done for the day and she was basically by herself to do what she needed.
Well, sort of by herself. Taking up the treadmill next to a familiar face, she greeted, nickname not said in malice, “ Hey Mister Rye-bread. ” Keeping her headphones out for the time being, she started off with a slow walk, more comfortable building up to a running speed. “ How’s your day goin’ ? ” She knew he was much busier than her - people liked him, took him seriously because of his age and no doubt the fact that he was a guy - but that didn’t stop her from being her normal, sociable self with her boss.
Ryan let out a laugh at the nickname he was greeted with thanks to his colleague “Rye-bread” he smiled “That’s clever, I’ll give ye that.” Rye-bread. Not once in his life has that nickname ever occurred before - not even with MacGuffin, Dingwall or event Merida. “My day’s goin’ not bad. Finally managed to find a minute to get in a run on the treadmill, so I cannae complain. How’s yours? Any clients give you hassle?” Ryan always asked the last question to his staff. He wanted them to know that if anyone did give them hassle then he was there to back his staff up - they were a little gym family as far as he was concerned.
She had finished her paperwork for the day and she was determined to get some sort of gym time. Merida headed to The Sweat Shop and made a beeline to the ladies locker room to change. By the time she emerged from the room, the gym had quietened down and she spotted Ryan on the treadmill “Hey butthead, do ye ever venture out of here?” she asked, trying to ensure her eyes avoid roaming around.
He turned his head to find his favourite redhead - no offence to the other redheads of the town. “Hey armpit” he smiled a small peculiar smile that seemed to be only reserved for Merida “I’ll venture out of here when ye take a holiday” he counted with a smirk while he was running, convinced that he managed to one up her. “Seriously how are ye though? It been a while”
Barry’s gaze moved toward the man. he let out a light laugh. he knew he probably seemed a little odd. a grown man fascinated by snow was not something a lot of people would expect to see. he made a motion around him with his arms. “come on. you’re honestly trying to tell me that all of this isn’t interesting to you?”
Ryan laughed once again at the others reaction, it was refreshing seeing someone excited at the snow “No, none of this snow interests me. It snows every winter back home in Scotland so I’m well and truly sick of the stuff”
Flounder: Something that surprised you and frightened you.Somethin’ that surprised me was how quickly the gym grew to the level of demand it’s at now & somehin’ that frightened me was my mother falling ill and deteriorating so quickly.
Dory: Something someone has told you that you can't forget (two good things and one bad)“Openin’ a gym was a good idea, Merida was happy to see me around again and a bad thing was that my mother was ill and she’s only going to get worse”
After having Ranjan, Miksha would find herself going to the gym at least twice a week. It was the best way to keep in shape so she could take care of her son and because it just felt good to stay in shape. It was one of the usual days she went in to work out, but it was the busiest she had ever seen it. She sighed as she spotted the last open treadmill. She had begun walking at a steady pace as she looked over to the man next to her. He seemed nice, so she started a harmless conversation. “Come here often?” She said with a rather loud laugh.
He was far too focused in running to make sure he met his target for the day until he heard someone speak up “Ah fuck, Miksha!” he jumped and turned the treadmill speed down to a walk until he could gather himself “Jesus are ye tryin’ to give me a heart attack” he laughed and let out a breath “I’m tellin’ ye, you’re pickin’ up tricks from that kid of yours” he smiled.
It was a busy day at the gym today. He had appointments after appointments and in between those he was running classes and giving nutrition advice to people that were asking him about it all. With the gym now quieting down, he managed to get a workout of his own in. Running on the treadmill to build up his cardio, he was away in a world of his own and hadn’t noticed someone jump onto the machine next to his.
— It was the morning, Grayson didn’t do mornings, ever, and waiting in line for a cup of coffee was basically the last thing he’d wanted to do. But there he was, at the Tea Kettle in line waiting to get a hot cup of coffee. Grayson groaned loudly to no one in particular “everyone needs to bring the energy down a notch, it is absolutely too lively in here right now”.
He was on his way to the gym when he decided to stop i for some coffee before completing his journey. The queue was long, the place was particularly loud for this time in the morning and all Ryan seemed to get so far was a headache. He sighed in agreement at the man in front of him “Tell me about it. There’s no reason it should be this loud in the morning”
Barry watched the snow fall around him for a moment. he didn’t grow up in a place where it snowed, so he was still somehow not used to this phenomenon each year. he took a sip from his coffee before he turned to the person next to him. “okay, am i the only one who still doesn’t understand snow?” he asked offhandedly. “like it’s raining, but it’s so cold the rain’s frozen?”
He found it amusing that someone still found wonder in snow. Maybe it was because he was always expecting it thanks to growing up in the Scottish Highlands “Out of the two of us, I’m afraid so. I’m sick of looking at the stuff” he laughed “When the temperature drops and there’s enough moisture in the air then snow tends to quickly follow.”
that’s ( ryan macintosh ) walking down the street, the ( twenty eight ) year old, who looks like ( aiden turner). here in apple peak, they are work as a ( personal trainer & owner of the sweat shop gym). some say he act(s) like ( young macintosh ) from ( brave ), since he can be ( confident ), but also a little bit ( over-competitive ). — amy, 20, gmt, she/her
hi! i’m amy and i’m hyped to be joining you all in this wonderful rp. as mentioned above, this is ryan macintosh and he is my precious grumpy son.
ryan fergus macintosh
son of lord macintosh back in the scottish highlands & was gifted the middle name of meridas father fergus as a token of thanks for fergus saving lord macintoshes arse previously
28 years old
he’s confident, sometimes it borders along the lines of arrogance but he means well.
ryan’s over-competitive as hell, he doesn’t like to fail or lose at anything which can cause him to be melodramatic at times.
when he was a kid, his competitive side was never more noticeable than when he was around merida. he was the best at everything in his clan and then all of a sudden a stubborn red head stomped into his life and since then he’s been completely sold on her. they we’re competitive over everything. if ryan hit the target during archery, merida hit the bullseye. if they were play fighting it always escalated into a proper fight because neither of them would back down...and he loved it. no one challenged him like merida did.
despite his competitive nature ryan is a good guy and will socialise with anyone. loyal to his friends, his protective nature will show if anything kicks off
ryan wasn’t sure what he wanted to do with his life when he was growing up. but for a man who was always into sports, keeping fit and eating well, it only made sense for him to go into personal training.
he started a gym back home in scotland and it did so well that he decided to open one up in the states - hearing that merida had settled in apple peak got him curious and the rest is history. ryan opened up the sweat shop gym and has been training people ever since.
he can often be seen going for runs around apple peaks park or leading outdoor exercise classes.
has a pet dog called pictish woad.
ryan can go off in his own head sometimes thinking about back home due to his mother not keeping well - his father is head of the clan -and their town in the highlands- and those duties will fall to ryan should his father step down.
i’ll add to this as i go along. if anyone would like to plot with my guy i would really appreciate that & can you please hmu xxx
