Biography:
Ryder was born and raised in Brisbane, Australia. He is an only child. His dad’s name is Christian, and his mom’s is Emily. He always asked why he never had any other siblings. His mom said they just wanted one perfect child, and that’s what they got. Or so they thought. Ryder gave his dad a hard time. His mom is the one who babies him. She would let him get away with everything and anything.
Ryder was a rebellious child. He was always pushing the boundaries and seeing what he could get away with. He was an only child after all. He got away with some things with his mom because he was, is, and always will be a mommy’s boy. His father, on the other hand, caught on very early to what Ryder was doing. His father was the more powerful and strict authority figure of the TWO of them. When he LAY down the law, his word was final. Ryder hated that. He wanted to do what he wanted. So, he went against everything he said. It backfired a few times, and his father would get angry with HIM. other times, he didn’t even notice because he was so busy working.
His rebellious attitude and phase spilled over into his school years. Especially in high school. He skipped class, hung out with the wrong crowd, and wasn’t going to graduate high school at one point. Ryder's dad, Christian, had accepted a new job in Kismet Harbor, working at the local hospital. They packed up and left Brisbane and arrived at their new Kismet Harbor home. Ryder wasn’t thrilled about leaving his friends and the life he built for himself and was accustomed to. He constantly thought each day, “How dare they move someplace that he didn’t know and hadn’t even heard of before."
Ryder sparked an idea in his head that if he turned his life around and started buckling down and working hard, graduating high school and college, maybe his family would move back to Brisbane. Wishful thinking that was. Ryder's dad told him this was permanent. They weren’t moving again. This was their home now, and he would grow to like it whether he liked it or not. Ryder decided to make the most of it and try for his parents. They seemed to love their new home and didn’t want to stand in their way of happiness.
To everyone’s surprise, under the rebellious, don’t care, don’t want to be here, not going to put in the work attitude, Ryder is smart, resourceful, passionate, kind, adventurous, goofball, hard-working, and generous. He graduated high school with honors and went on to study fire science He graduated from the local university with the highest distinction summa cum laude. After attending university, Ryder went to the fire academy to become a firefighter. This is where he found his passion for helping those around him. He has come to love living in Kismet Harbor and has become active in the community when he’s not working crazy hours.
The Chef was hungry and did not feel like cooking at all or eating his own cooking and so he decided that after his meeting he would grab some lunch. He had been craving burgers and had texted Ryder if he wanted to grab something to eat. He was glad that the other was free and so he waited outside the firehouse and smiled when he saw the other.
"Hello handsome, done for today?" he asked with a bright smile on his face as he looked at his boyfriend.
Ryder loved loved loved his job. It was what he was meant to do. He wouldn’t change it for anything. Do not get it wrong. However, when it came to the 24 and even 48 hour shifts, not being able to see Ben, sleep next to him, kiss him, and even fall asleep in his arms, he didn’t like the feeling. Thank goodness he was almost done with his 24 hour shift and he could see Ben. Ryder was finishing changing when he heard his phone. He smiled at the text message asking if he was free for lunch. He quickly texted back that he was and would see him soon.
Ryder said bye to everyone and walked out seeing Benny waiting for him. “Hi yourself handsome. Just finished my shift. I am all yours.”he smiled. Ryder dropped his bag and kissed Ben.
"He's hot." Alex commented as she tossed her phone to Ryder. While she wasn't sure about dating especially in a town like this, she didn't want to just close herself off completely and become celibate. "Can't you and that hot boyfriend of yours just take me as a third?" She asked teasingly before turning on the pot of water. "It would be so much easier just having two boyfriends verses trying to find someone for a quick hook up." Adding as she nudged him lightly. "So what is next?" Looking towards the pot, then at Ryder. The last time she'd tried to cook she had almost burnt down her apartment.
Ryder was grabbing some drinks for them and even more ingredients from the fridge. He was teaching her some recipes and cooking techniques. All thanks to Benny. Who taught him. He came back in just enough time to catch her phone. “Who? This guy? I mean.. you’re not wrong. He is kinda cute. Don’t tell Ben I said that or called another guy cute.”he chuckled swiping through the pictures of cute guys Alex had on her phone. “Girl, you’ve been holding out on showing me these pictures. Did you even reach out? Send a message? Say hey hi what’s up?”he said. Ryder at one point thought that he would be alone forever. Just him and his dog Lucy. But, Benny was there all along and he loved it. “Oooo wouldn’t that be hot.” “So next you gotta let the water come to boil. Don’t put your pasta in before. But while we’re waiting we can get the meatballs going.”he said. Ryder wasn’t that best of a cook. He was tying. All thanks to Benny. He once burned water and almost the firehouse. Go figure a firefighter almost burning down his own firehouse. But thank goodness for his own personal chef helping him. Now, he was helping his best girlfriend Alex.
When Seymour was found by Cohen, Courtney knew right away that this dog was going to be theirs. That he'd be trained by them and trained well, and that he'd be friendly. But she didn't know that he'd be the most lovable do she had ever known. "That's good," she breathed a sigh of relief, thankful her dog was a friendly one and one that didn't jump or at least only did so upon her and Cohen. "I swear he's the friendliest and goofiest guy, but I can understand people who might be afraid of him," his breed not having the best reputation which was unfortunate. But Seymour the dog himself was more of a mush, a lover and not a fighter. "That he is, and he seems to like Lucy too," she pointed out, her own dog being cool around Ryder's, neither of which seemed overwhelmed by the other. @ryderthornton
It was sad now of days that people who saw big dogs running towards them, got scared that they would jump, bark, or bite. It was a big misconception. It all depended on the owners and how well they trained their dog. Big dogs were such sweethearts and Seymour was proof of that. Ryder could tell that Seymour wanted to jump and lick him to death but he fought against it and just quick walked around his feet. “He’s a very friendly boy. I can see how people would be afraid of him. But, not me. He’s just a big baby who wants love and affection.”he smiled. Ryder looked down and saw that Lucy and Seymour were sniffing each other and even being playful too. “It seems like they are hitting it off. Which is good cause Lucy hasn’t been around too many dogs before.”he smiled.
"Apparently I need to be hanging around restaurants hoping to meet a hot chef," she grinned, not at all opposed to the possible future scenario where she dated someone that could cook. "Youngest, though. Youngest of five, so like, yeah. I have basically a buffet of homes to pick from. So, if you ever need to borrow a sibling, I've got you covered. Do you wish you had siblings? I can't imagine being just like the only one." With as big of a family as she had, Remi couldn't for a moment picture not having a sibling at all to go through life with. They were her best friends, her family, and everything in between. Her head nodded assuredly when he asked if she was sure about paying. After the ice cream bath it felt like the least she could do for him. "Totally sure, I got this one," she promised. She probably didn't given how bad she was with money, but that was a problem for future Remi to sort out and she happily swiped her card and grabbed the two ice creams. "Any preference on where we sit?" she asked, handing Ryder's ice cream over once the ice creams were made and passed across the counter.
“Not a bad idea. That’s actually smart. Who knows you might meet a nice waiter or even someone just walking in to grab food that you think is cute and strike up a conversation with them.”Ryder said with a smile. He listened to Remi talk about her family. “Thank you. Some days I do, yeah. A brother or sister that I can call up and talk about the day or even be overprotective of. I mean of course when I joined the firehouse I gained work brothers and sisters, but not blood related.”he said. His fire family was amazing, he knew that he could count on them and even if he was in a crisis or had good news to share, that they would answer the phone and be there in a heartbeat. Ryder smiled at Remi and didn’t bring up anymore about her paying. She was sure and that was enough for him. “Once again thank you.”he said grabbing his ice cream and looking around the shop. “There’s some seats over by the window? Wanna sit there? We can people watch at the same time we’re talking and eating our ice cream.”
Ben could not help it at all, he knew by the end of the night he was going to be very red. He was enjoying all the kisses, acts of services had always been the chef love language but because of Ryder, it seems like physical touch was starting to become of his favorite for sure. These two spent time together and so bed was sure of his decision. He trusted Ryder and cared for the man so he planned to ask them and give them something after their dinner.
"You sir are making me blush and smile," he replied back looking at Ryder and looking into his eyes. "I have a surprise for you after Dinner handsome Thornton." @ryderthornton
It seemed that was the name of the game tonight for Ryder and Benny. See who could make each other blush and red as a tomato. It happened each and every time that Benny complimented him or even cuddled him close into his arms. He loved it. He never wanted this feeling to go away. Ryder was affectionate. He enjoyed giving hugs. Kisses were only reserved for his parents and Ben. Ryder knew what Ben’s love language was. Cooking for him, showering with acts of service, and now add physical touch. For Ryder love language wasn’t just one thing it was multiple.
“Guilty and not sorry one bit for it. I love that smile on your face and love knowing that I am the only one that can make you blush.”he said locking eyes with Ben. Ryder ran his hand over his chest. “You do? Do I get a little hint or are you keeping it under wraps and not saying anything until after dinner?”he asked.
If Ryder and Benny stayed staring in each other’s eyes any longer, Ryder would be making out with Ben and dinner would be long forgotten. He pulled away but not too much away as they stayed near each other. They cooked dinner together and after enjoyed a night of cuddling and kisses.
"Something like that." Gen stated plainly, a small smile tugging at her lips. "One of those in between days." They happened, sometimes for no reason at all. There wasn't much to be done to prevent them, but she did try to turn the day around when she could. "No one likes waiting for the other shoe to drop, or having that feeling that it could." Gen paused for a beat. "But perhaps a coffee might turn the day around? Care to join me for one? Least I can do to thank you for noticing. Most people wouldn't have said anything at all." @ryderthornton
Ryder knew that feeling. Sometimes he wished that it was something that could be turned off, but then again, it was something that made them human. Made them have emotions and feelings too. He nodded knowing what she was talking about. "It is not a great feeling at all. Or the waiting either. Agreed. But, got to find things to take your mind off it and think about the positive. I know its better said than done sometimes." he smiled. "Coffee and something sweet? Always a good combo. Of course, I would like to join you. I have come to notice that if it is not something that captures their attention, everyone keeps on walking by." Ryder extended his hand for her to take.
Ben enjoyed Ryder being in his arms, he always enjoyed the others company and plus the chef had been thinking about something important too that he wanted to ask the other. He really cared deeply about Ryder, he trusted the male and so he had decided to make a copy of his keys for the male and he also wanted them to feel like he was welcomed in anytime. He smiled as they were in the kitchen and turned on the tap to wash his hands.
"Am glad that you will always remember our first date, because so will I" @ryderthornton
When Ryder wasn’t working, attending groups, or even at his own apartment, he was here with Ben. There was no where else that he rather be than right here in his arms and in his home too. He spent a majority of his time here with Ben. Sure he did think about the possibility of them moving in together down the road. They had very strong feelings for one another and it would be great to come home and see Ben’s smiling face and even arms wrapped around him after a long work day. Phone calls and FaceTime worked but the comfort of Ben’s strong arms settled him.
Ryder stood next to Ben kissing his shoulder before washing his hands after. “I will remember all the dates that we have. When it comes to you I will never forget them.”
"Kind of the dream, though, a partner that cooks for you? The best. I mostly just mooch off my siblings, since they're all like real adults and have their lives together enough to cook dinner most nights," she admitted with a short laugh. It was one of the many benefits of having all her siblings close enough that she could just pop in at dinner time and see who was willing to feed her. Left to her own, though, it was pizzas, snacks, and whatever else didn't require the use of an actual appliance. "Sounds like we might be better off just eating it in here. I can only handle so many bird attacks in a day." She didn't mind sitting down for awhile to eat her ice cream anyway. "Exactly that, a chocolate shell. The best thing ever. Also a good choice, can't go wrong with anything Reeses really. I got both of ours." Remi stepped forward as they were next up and placed the order for them both, handing her card over to pay as the person behind the counter got their ice creams ready.
Ryder smiled thinking about Ben and even talking about him. It happened each time. “I am lucky for sure. He also tries new recipes out on me for his restaurant too.”he smiled. “Hey there’s nothing wrong with getting free food from your siblings. If I had siblings I would be probably doing the same time. Are you the youngest or oldest of your siblings?”he asked wanting to know more about Remi other than birds stealing food from her. He looked around the shop and it wasn’t crowded at all, so they could find some places to sit and enjoy their ice cream. “I think we are too. I don’t know if I’m ready for another ice cream bath. One is my limit.”he said before he could pull out his wallet to pay for them, she was already doing it. “Wait really? Are you sure?”he said. “Thank you. I appreciate that. Next time, I got us.”
"Sometimes it's just like that. The most random details from something sticks," he chuckled. He was a fountain of random facts and references himself, so he was familiar with how it felt. "That might actually be a great time. We do a lot of acting lessons and improv type challenges where we have the kids take on random character traits. Might be fun to do a Disney themed night for them," he mused, the thought now etched into his list of fun activities to bring to some of the classes he held at the theatre. He was always on the hunt for new ideas of things to do with the kids to keep things fun. "Oh, no chance you're the only one. I'd bet the vast majority of people doing these have to ask Google for at least a few hints." Even on his best days there were always a few stray clues that he couldn't quite figure out.
Alf did have a point there. Sometimes the most random facts popped into his mind and he said them. He even thought about random scenes from movies too. It was how Ryders brain worked. It was what made him remember things that others couldn’t. Sometimes it was a blessing and a curse. “You’re not wrong. I got a bunch of random facts in my brain from movies and even things I’ve read.”he said with a smile and chuckle. It wasn’t a bad thing. It came in handy when he could actually think and his mind wasn’t running a million miles a minute. “I think it wouldn’t be only fun for the kids but it would also be fun for those of us who are kids at heart and enjoy anything Disney related.”he smiled. There was nothing wrong with tapping into our inner child. Going back to when we were young. Sometimes we needed that. He nodded. “Yeah, you’re right. Are you one of them when you’re not asking people on the beach?”
Never in a million years did Ben think that he would be this happy, he was doing amazing in his career, he was finally living and enjoying life, he had a kid who he loved so much and he had found love. Ben never thought he would get everything that he wanted nor did he think that he would deserve all of this. If he was honest, sometimes he believed and felt like all of this was a dream for sure, a dream he never wanted to wake up from. Ben smiled closing his eyes and just feel his boyfriend cuddled in his arms. "Me too handsome," he whispered as he kissed Ryder's head.
"Good, I want you to remember that for sure," he teased with a grin. "Yes chef," @ryderthornton
Ryder closed his eyes and stayed cuddled up in Ben’s arms. Besides the firehouse, it was the place where he felt safe and could be himself. The place he knew he could come to when he was having a bad day or just wanted to cuddle and be held. He smiled to himself as he played with the hem of Ben’s shirt. He was happy. Ryder looked up at Ben and kissed him before they moved to the kitchen to get started cooking together. Ryder hoped that he could focus because when Benny was in the kitchen he easily became distracted.
“It was our official first date. I am always going to remember that night.”he smiled with a smirk as he thought about the night all the time. They went to wash their hands before taking out the groceries.
"Yeah, I've never really tried. I like sweets way too much to even think about a diet," she chuckled. It had always been a vice for Remington, but one that she'd long since given up trying to fight against. Her siblings were involved enough to make her eat something healthy often enough that she wasn't a total disaster. "Hah, yeah. Guarantee they're out there stalking the skies, waiting for the next poor person with a cone to walk by." It was the main reason she was leaning towards a cup for her ice cream this time around. Pausing once again to look over the menu, she clicked her tongue a few times in thought before nodding. "I think I'm going to do the chocolate strawberry one. It has like that chocolate that you put on it and then it hardens? I love that stuff."
“Don’t do it. For me it was difficult to even start one cause like you I like my sweets and junk food. I do eat healthy but then again I sneak. My boyfriend though ensures I eat healthy. Cooking for me.” Ryder smiled. Ben made sure that he had good food, cooking for them, and even bringing him food at the firehouse too. His captain was the same way. However, he still found a way to sneak the good stuff. The junk food. The snacks. The sweets. It was hard to stay with a diet plan. “I have no doubt at all. They’re probably sitting on the bench out there just waiting to see what we bring out.”he chuckled. Ryder looking at the menu and saw the chocolate and peanut butter and was going for that one. “Oh a chocolate shell kind of? I think I’m going to go for the Reese’s chocolate peanut butter.”
Courtney breathed a sigh of relief, not just because someon came to help but because Seymour didn't wind up in the street. She didn't worry about him hurting anyone, the dog being the friendliest one she had ever met she had feared of him getting hurt somehow. "He definitely did, he saw the opportunity and took it," she looked down at the gray dog and shook her head, and all Seymour did was wag his tail. At his question, she looked at the wheel and nodded, "yeah I think I do. Breaking the wheel of a stroller was not on my to do list this morning." She smiled at him and reached for Seymour's leash, still shaking her head at him though she couldn't be mad. "That would be amazing, and honestly he's the biggest mush you'll ever meet." @ryderthornton
Seymour was very friendly. He could have barked and even jumped on him and Lucy but he didn’t. He just came up and sniffed at them and even knew to stop. Maybe it was because he heard his mom calling for him or Ryder called his name. “That he did. But he was a good boy. He didn’t bark or jump. He just wanted some extra loving from strangers.”he smiled. Ryder listened to Courtney. When people were busy and had a whole list of things to do, that was when things went not the way we wanted. Items broke, were misplaced, and we forget what we needed to do. “I’ll help get you on your way. He’s a big boy but still a little baby that needs love and cuddles.”he said.
"That's always my plan, to make you so very red and to make you smile because you have the most beautiful eyes in the world and I love when they shine so bright when you smile," he spoke as he ran his hands through his boyfriend's hair slowly after Ryder kissed him back. "I am lucky I have you all to my self sexy," he added with a wink.
"You know I can handle it tough and I love it when Mr. sexy gets tough and rough," he laughed as he bit his bottom lips. "What are your orders chef?" @ryderthornton
Ryder closed his eyes. How did he get so damn lucky. Benny is the best thing to ever happen to him. He never thought in a million years that he would be this happy or even blush this much. Yet, here he was. He was a red tomato and it was all because of Benny and his sweet sexy and beautiful words. “It’s you. No matter what you do or you say, babe. I’m going to be a red tomato and I’ll be smiling. You will get my smiling face, shiny eyes, red cheeks, all of it. Just like I want to see the smile on your face and your kisses.”he cuddled into his arms. “All yours. I’m always yours.”he smirked.
“Well I am going to have to remember you said that when we’re in the bedroom.”he winked. “First wash hands. Next, can you help me cut the vegetables. I’m trying to recreate our first dinner date we had.”
Gen nodded her head, though she didn't know if she had shook it if that would have stopped the other from saying anything at all. She preferred honesty, especially when it came to working in her career. "I didn't get not so great news," the sentiment caused her to pause for a brief moment, "but honestly, you ever just have one of those days where something feels off? The energy or what not?" Gen wasn't a believer in crystals or mercury retrograde, but something simply felt off. "But thank you, honestly. For your honesty." She thanked him with a softened laugh. @ryderthornton
Ryder was honest. If people wanted honesty then that is what he would be. However, he didn’t want to be tooo honest and break a friendship that could be made. Considering Ryder was a firefighter, he was a social butterfly at times. Other times he was keep to himself, stay at home, don’t interact with anyone besides his boyfriend of course. “You just looked kinda sad that’s why I said it. But I’m glad you didn’t get bad news. Yeah, yeah I do. Especially in my line of work. I don’t like that feeling. You’re having one of those days?”he asked softly. “You’re welcome.”
This could only happen to her, her dog running off to chase birds while the wheel on the stroller for her daughter broke. Thankfully the stroller didn't tip over and some nice gentleman seemed to have caught up with Seymour. "Thank you," she said and let out a big sigh, shaking her head at the gray dog, "the one time he dde ides to misbehave and be naughty is the one time the wheel breaks." She crouched down to see it completely cracked and she shook her head while standing back up. "The goofball sees any and all creatures as friends so dude just got excited I guess," she reached for the leash and couldn't help but chuckle at the dog. "Between you and your dog and those birds, I don't know who he was more excited to say hi to." @ryderthornton
It was not the first time that Ryder had dogs, birds, and other animals run up to him and land on him. He seemed to be an animal magnet, or they just knew that he was an animal lover, cause he was. It seemed that they found him no matter where he was. Ryder held onto Lucy and Seymour’s leashes, bringing the other dog back to his owner. “You’re welcome. He's like well mom is busy, let me go say hi to anyone and everyone that will have me.” He said. “Do you need some help with the stroller? I have a wheel patcher kit in my car, I can get you all patched up and back to finishing your walk? Perks of being a firefighter.” He said softly. “It could be all three. New friends, birds, too many choices.”
