Like, the way Gemerl is characterized in IDW and Chaotix Casefiles just doesn't make any logical sense.

Ironically, Gemerl's appearance back in the Archie comics was much more authentic to the way it'd make sense for him to be portrayed.

This is honestly so much closer to the way I think it'd make sense for Gmerl to be written.

It's crazy how Ian Flynn will initially get something right, only to then change his mind and start writing it wrong. Like, he realized he was ACCIDENTALLY authentic and faithful to the video games, and deliberately changed it to be unfaithful and different instead on purpose. Because he hates Sonic.

IDW and Chaotic Casefiles are projects that went through Sega’s approval process. Characterization is largely determined by them. If you liked how Ian Flynn portrayed Gemerl in the Archie comics and not the current stuff then maybe it isn’t him you should blame for the change? It would be Sega. Specifically the Japanese side.

Anyway, the comic was born out of

my thoughts about Caine's model lacking many essential facial features (as if he was never intended to show any emotions) and yet him being literally the most expressive character in the circus despite everything.

me being low-key obsessed with the implications episode 7 left us with. Players questioning everything they've been told and Caine being in the center of it all.

I want them all to be healed and happy, little guy absolutely included, but man the situation is rough, and the odds are against us

Okay but I don't think "that's not a photograph" is enough for this. That's a reduction linocut and I'm just going to assume a whole lot of the people here won't know what that means or google it. It means that the artist has had a linoleum block and has made this image by carving pieces out of it bit by bit, printing layers upon layers at different stages of carving to get the layered colours on the final print. Hypereaslistic paintings and pencil drawings and such are impressive, but I beg you all to look up how linocuts are done to get an idea of how this has been done.

A for Angel's Advocate?

So Cartoon Network released a pilot recently and something about it seemed familiar. Especially the angel character Ray. Then it hit me. An old comic that I read through Tumblr. Looking back into the blogs I followed and I spotted it.

The story follows Plum as she is immediately thrusted into her world with very little knowledge of how it works. If you watched "A For Angel" and then read this comic, you can see a lot of similarities with certain characters.

From the looks of it, elements from the comic have been retooled to become the cartoon we see today. While Ri to Ray had very little changed in terms of design, Plum to Clementine had a huge overhaul in terms of design.

Overall, I find this just neat, and I'm sure that when this short becomes more popular, more people will connect the dots anyway.
