the thing about israel and palestine is that only one side has the power to end the conflict. israel could end the occupation, end the blockade, stop the settlements, stop the apartheid, and let palestinians return to their stolen homes. an end to israeli violence--to israeli occupation of palestine--would mean an end to the conflict. an end to palestinian violence, on the other hand, would see the bombings and evictions and ethnic cleansing continue unabated. so when someone calls for "an end to violence on both sides" remember that only one side can end 'the violence'--all the other can do is roll over and die.

like, you think it's bad that hamas are extremely reactionary religious fundamentalists? okay, me too! however if you want to foster progressive and humane forces in palestinian politics the first step is to stop keeping millions of people in an open air concentration camp that's bombed daily and steps two through one hundred are dismantling the israeli apartheid state. but of course the 'end to violence' people aren't advocating that because they don't really want an end to violence, just for the israeli colonial project to proceed unimpeded and for palestinians to politely not make a fuss about their own genocide

There's a difference between rioting and destroying government buildings and stuff and kidnapping and murdering civilians. Even if Hamas somehow "frees Palestine" it's probably gonna end up as a shitty authoritarian government. Responding to genocide with another genocide solves nothing.

after toussaint successfully helped organize a violent revolt that resulted in the independence of haiti, he was arrested and murdered, then napoleon sent troops to haiti in an effort to re-institute slavery again. dessalines responded by withdrawing the modicum of mercy his former leader displayed, because showing civility wouldn’t stop the french from attempting to enslave them again. if dessalines didn’t order the execution of the slave-holding class in haiti, including their families, my people would still be slaves right now. the haitian revolution is directly responsible for the abolition of slavery in all of the americas. it sent a shockwave of terror through the veins of every colonizer in the americas and stood as a beacon of hope for every enslaved african at the time (shoutout to nat turner). i’m free to be here typing this on a computer machine in 2023 because a group of brave africans got organized and took off some colonizer’s scalp in 1804 and sent a ripple effect of fear through the west. idk about you, but i’m here because my ancestors retaliated, by any means necessary. the Palestinians’ fighting back is long, long overdue. they don’t need anyone’s approval to free themselves or die trying, much like my ancestors did. your liberal moralizing is lost on me.

God… me too, honestly?? Like I won’t like, I’ve been rooting for IchiHime’s canonisation for literally the better part of the last thirteen years. Back when I first got into Bleach, it seemed like a complete fantasy that they would ever become something legit, you know? I didn’t mind that not being an option for them, because I was honestly so endeared by their interactions that it was enough for me just to see their cute moments together.

And then they started getting closer… and their feelings became more developed… and they underwent so many trials and misunderstandings and stumbled over their own feet in their desperation to keep the other safe… and it just became so, so obvious to me that they were going to be together and there was a real chance for them to be together and it was a valid endgame option…. and that feeling just got stronger.

But here in the final stages of everything, with IH’s impending canonisation just right around the corner… it almost feels surreal? We’ve endured so much bashing and harassment at the hands of entitled and elitist detractors, we’ve followed Ichigo & Orihime on this amazing journey together, and it honestly just feels surreal that it’s all finally coming together. Everything is falling into place almost exactly how we’ve been imagining it all this time and it feels so, so gratifying to be proven right.
