Happy pride month! Here we have a few queer ships that are canon to my verse that I either haven’t really focused on or mentioned before. (aka the ones that aren’t on my family trees. I have some others I want to give some attention to, but I know my limits and if I’d included them I probably wouldn't have anything to post.)

Hadithi/Zazu – so I talked a little about this before, where I was debating on if I wanted Mzingo/Zazu or Hadithi/Zazu, and I’m like 90% sure I’ll be going with Hadithi. (the 10% is holding out for me properly drawing Mzingo/Zazu to see how they look together in my style.) I just ended up so charmed by the idea of Zazu, after all he went through in life without ever faltering in his demotion to his job, catching the attention of the local hero. I like to think that while the other animals see Zazu as a busybody, most Prideland birds actually look up to him, Hadithi included. They’re around the same age, and Zazu is surprised to learn that Hadithi had always noticed him even when they were young. Causally of course, as Zazu was married for years, and Hadithi traveled and had his share of lovers, but he had always admired him.

Chama/Mzaha/Furaha – this is basically canon already lmao. I actually really like this episode and these three. They’re a bit annoying of course, but I like that they’re genuinely good guys, and it’s cute that there are random Pridelanders outside of the main cast who care about Rafiki. I’m a huge baby and always get misty eyed when Chama says about Rafiki’s tree “it is his home after all.” I guess I’m a sucker for when himbo dumb jokesters have moments of sincerity. I think them being gay adds an extra layer to their story of not belonging, both in universe and out. Systemic queerphobia isn’t really a thing in this world, but some herds are more traditional then others, especially elephants, so they aren’t outright homophobic, but some can be like “...but that’s not the life I’ve always fantasized about” in the way parents can be. Out of universe I find the idea of “these animals feel othered by their herds” as queercoding kinda fun. I actually see Timon’s story in 1 ½ like that. His unexplained inability to Meerkat™ properly feels very both queer and ND coded to me. I see a lot of Timbaa in these guys, and I like to imagine them bonding with Timon and Pumbaa over the years. Also I see them as 16, 17ish; still young, but it slightly lessons the sting of getting kicked out by their families than if they were Kion’s age.

Mtoto/his rhino friend – no big reason for this one, I just think an elephant/rhino pair would be cute. I’ve named his friend Kufuka (crash.) these two have been super close since they were quite young, in that cutesy way that makes adults laugh and joke “oh he’s your little boyfriend” - which is usually weird projecting, but some kids actually do get innocent crushes pretty young, as was the case for them. They don’t get together until they’re middle school aged, but if you ask them, they’ll insist they knew they wanted to marry each other since they were 5. I tired to make them look slightly older than they are in the show here, but I forgot Mtoto has tusks so he kinda looks the same lol. they’re the same age roughly, Kufuka is just very big for his age (that cartoon trope of the huge school kid) and Mtoto small.

the hackerbait/scam bots have changed up their wording - I've seen this and another, differently phrased message getting repeatedly used now.

PLEASE DO NOT ENGAGE WITH PEOPLE COMMENTING THAT THEY NEED TO TALK TO YOU ABT SOMETHING IMPORTANT IN DMS.

it is a scare tactic!

They will tell you that they accidentally reported you/your account and that you need to "resolve this with tumblr", maybe even send you a fake email telling you to reach out to someone on discord - IT'S ALL FAKE TO GET YOUR LOGIN DATA SO THEY CAN SPAM THOSE TRICK COMMENTS THROUGH YOUR ACCOUNT TOO.

EDIT:

an easy way to check if they're a bot or a hacked account is if they have their username as their title and their posts/reblogs don't go back further than 1 day and their first post is something like "hiiii" - those are fine to report as spam/bot!

Real accounts that got hacked would have more personalization and got way further back and the original owner is likely already trying to get it back, so no reporting and just blocking would be better there.

INCREDIBLY CONCERNING SPIKE IN ANTI-BLACKNESS IS HAPPENING RN.

Some of yall may have heard some of the shit that has been going on right now. I'm gonna give a quick run down of some of the stuff that has been happening. Note, this is not all, and it may never be all as much as I will try to update this.

(I am going to try and compile and briefly explain these as much as I can. There may be misinformation. Please inform me if I got something wrong.)

1) Racist Chinese Dolls.

There are these dolls in China that are being called "Natasha" baby dolls. These dolls are not only very obvious caricatures of black people, but they are being advertised as a "stress relief" in which the people who buy these abuse it in various ways.

This links to a video of a compilation of the various "uses" of the doll. There are more in the replies of the tweet. (Another link to the same tweet just incase)

2) The Mocking, Abuse, and Dehumanization of Black Children.

Apart from the aforementioned doll, there are apparently people going around mocking, abusing, and dehumanizing black children.

Some people have compared black children to the doll.

Others have been going into African countries and have found ways to mock, abuse, and dehumanize black children for clout.

3) Black people are going missing.

Black people, especially children and teens have recently been going missing at an alarming rate. Some of these same people are turning up dead, deaths being ruled as "suicides."

While it generally unknown why many of these people are going missing, many suspect that their disappearances, deaths, and even lack of coverage is rooted in anti-blackness.

The following is a list of black people that have been reported missing as of recently. Please note that this is not a complete list (it may never be completed due to the fact that many of these disappearances will still occur as time passes) this may contain inaccurate information. Please inform me if that is the case.

By the time you see this, some of these people may have already been found either alive or deceased. This post will be updated overtime.

It is also heavily encouraged that you reblog this with more links to recent cases of missing black people if you are aware of any that aren’t included on this list.
