Hello everyone, I hope you are all doing well, and I apologize for being absent for so long. For quite a while work had gotten really busy, as we were short staffed and I was working up to 100+ hours on the really intense weeks. After that I had gotten involved with some other fun things and struggled to get back into working on this project.
I will be putting this project on an official hiatus. What I am uploading now is an updated version of the demo, including a more clear introduction and Johnsoni sprites + scenes, along with a little additional content for Nalis, including the ability to visit and explore his bedroom and some shirtless Nalis action. I figured putting at least some of what I have finished up would be better than doing nothing.
For those that enjoy spoilers or extremely unfinished work, you are welcome to browse my script or the images folder to get some previews of what’s coming later. There is quite a bit of extra content for Nalis’s route there that I couldn’t finish in time for this. Please keep in mind that it is all subject to change or further edits. I’m a little sad that I didn’t have time to finish all of that, since it also includes a working rhythm minigame and laser tag minigame that were fun to mess with, along with some other things I was excited about but haven't had time to polish fully.
For now I will be shifting my focus to another project. Last year I was one of the beta testers for YKMET: Strade, and I met some really incredible + talented people there that I’ve become very close with and cherish. I’ve joined some of them with plans of us making a game similar to the BTD / TPOF / YKMET type of games together. I’m really excited!! We’ll each be working on one character / route, with mine involving a blue-ringed octopus guy :)
I don’t expect there to be much crossover between people who enjoy Symptoms of Deceit and people who will enjoy that game. Although my character will still fit into the yandere category, the overall themes and genre of that game will be much more intense & fall into the horroreroge genre. It definitely won’t be for everyone. I'd really ONLY recommend it if you enjoy games like BTD / TPOF / YKMET.
My plan is to return to working on SoD after we are finished with that game, which we will be releasing all at once in a complete state (no demo). I am very excited to return to Symptoms of Deceit with the experience and skills I'll develop during that project! My goal will probably be to release two final SoD updates then, one with Nalis's completed paths and endings, and one with Thaumo's completed paths and ending. I will probably edit and improve on the early demo portion more then too.
Thank you so, so much to everyone who has supported me and been patient with me. It really means more to me than I can put into words.
The four most interesting parts of time loop are when the person kills themselves for the first time, when they kill someone else for the first time (in a fuck around kind of way, this doesn't count if they already were killing people outside of the loop), how they break the loop, and the weeks afterward where they loose their fucking minds in an entirely different, significantly more damaging to the world around them way. And yet I rarely see anything done with that last one. People leave time loops and are all happy go lucky 'oh boy'. Where's the grappling with people you know who will never know you? Where's the knowledge that the safety of the loop is gone, and you can't fix any mistakes you make? That's the good angst I want

Why the hell is tumblr feeding me pro anorexia content all of a sudden?? I've never interacted with anything even slightly related. Ick. I've been blocking and reporting all of the blogs so hopefully they won't show up but usually I just get recommended classic lit and webweaving type blogs with some rural gothic photography.
