Part 4, the final installment, of me showing off my illustrations for the Hundreds of Pearls Trading Card project! (I will do a different post showcasing the template and card design itself, never you worry!) These were the last two illustrations I did for the cards, and they are some of my favorites! By the time I did them, I was really in the swing of how to illustrate cards for a trading card set, and was (still am) very sad for it to be over with.
Everything came together so well for both of these. The colors, the poses, the designs… everything just worked! For Lilac, her background is the same design as on the back of her biker jacket, which represents both her and her love, Angel Aura Quartz.
Melo’s card was going very differently to begin with. The background gradient was deep purple at the bottom, to peacock blue at the top. And it just wasn’t working. But I did a yellow-orange color overlay on the colors to tie it better to Melo, and came up with colors I would never have personally chosen, but was delighted to find! The whole aesthetic became very art deco, and I’m very proud of it!
