sigh. the progression of normal viktor, to the arcane herald, to the machine herald, and to the mage is so important to me. it shows his absolute loss of humanity. not all at once, no, because he has too many human feelings he cant seem to let go of. the arcane herald shows him dropping mortal ties, an attempt to lose the face (get it?) of his humanity, the machine herald shows him as something non-human, evolved, a god among people, and the mage shows him finally human, again, because can you really be human in a world of isolation? can you show humanity in a world lacking one? in a world with only you, what is there to define humanity, anymore? i love arcane
