Beatrice Arthur, Rue McClanahan, Betty White, and Estelle Getty in The Golden Girls episode entitled ‘Twas the Nightmare Before Christmas, originally broadcast by NBC on December 20th, 1986. The series’ prop department pranked the four stars during rehearsals by creating calendars containing photos of the show’s mostly middle-aged male crew members posing shirtless in exaggerated “sexy” poses. When Bea, Rue, Betty, and Estelle first saw the calendars while doing a read-through on the set, they all burst into gales of laughter, with Bea wiping tears from her eyes while she giggled hysterically looking at each month’s new photo (behind the scenes video of this can be viewed on YouTube by searching for The Golden Girls “Blanche Calendar”). The actresses kept their calendars, with Rue’s selling for $4,000 at her estate auction in 2011.
