By "these women," I assume you mean CD Call. Also hi, I am also a woman, with many fandom friends who identify as women. I focus on CD Call, Lily Orchard, because she is a predator, she enables predators, and she defends predators.

I do talk about other fandom nonsense. Older posts primarily focused on the pro/anti ship "war," and I still do talk about those. It's just not something that is that relevant to me and my spaces at the moment.

Now, I am mildly worried you seem to brush aside "these women are shitty or done bad things," when personally, if you did an actual bad thing, ie, MOLEST YOUR OWN SISTER, while gleefully talking about psychological topics you have no understanding of, promoting false information and acting like some knowledgeable person, yeah, Imma talk about how "shitty" and "bad" you are.

I give zero fucks if all someone did was wrote a disgusting fanfic or draw a repulsive artpiece. I still remember that one SpyxFamily Nazi piece posted on Holocaust Remembrance Day. It was revolting. But, not illegal. So I merely blocked the artist. Freedom of expression does not mean freedom from consequences and all.

But if this behavior is repetitive, and the person also expresses those desires, those fantasies, to be real, Imma be real concerned. And if it comes out they did, in fact, commit a crime? Report. CD-Call Can't Read the Writing on the Wall: How to Fuck Up the Avatar in One Easy Step!

Now, I would like to think that if I asked anybody what the Avatar is, and they didn't say "what the blue alien movies?", you'd be able to give me a relatively accurate summation... so let's take a look at what Lily thinks the Avatar is.

The Avatar is Gifted with True Perspective.

With entire SWATHES of land dedicated entirely to these four elements it just kinda screams that bending is more significant than just a funny little powerset. Maybe? Possibly.

No but really. Bending is a deeply spiritual art, it isn't a matter of twiddle your toes at a 98 degree angle during a kick to add ROCK.... You need to feel it in your SOUL. YOU HAVE TO ABSORB SOME OF THE CULTURE OF THE OTHER STYLES OF BENDING TO DO IT! A fully realized Avatar must have spent a significant amount of time internalizing these cultures, which would in turn lead to a sense of some sort of responsibility simply from being the sole person that greatly benefits from this accumulated knowledge. They uphold the balance because they are one of very few that get to truly understand it firsthand.

Though note I say fully realized for a good reason. There is room in the world for a story about an Avatar that doesn't bow to tradition or just wants no part, but do need to be weakened to match this attitude. There's also one too dedicated like Kioshi. You can have them play the game entirely in the long term health of the world in its totality. Thing is Niva is both? So you get the awkwardness of an Avatar who could end all problems, but is never ever truly motivated to do so. Even failing at supposedly "not being the republics whipping boy", because she just won't do good until forced to by world leaders.

I get what she was trying to go for, but picked the worst power system for it. The Avatar is a god among men, but not inherently. The men shape the God as much as the other way around.

When I was in this age bracket, there was a huge emphasis on improving consent culture via graceful rejection, and it's gone by the wayside. Which sucks.

Twice in my youth (once in high school and once in college) I was in situations where I was asking someone out and I could tell they were calculating in their heads the risks of rejecting me, and both times I said, out loud, "you can say no, I wouldn't have asked if I wasn't prepared for either answer." And then they said no. This wasn't some spark of special wisdom I had - I knew to do it because feminist conversations among my age group brought it up regularly. This isn't happening nearly enough anymore.

More recently, I was really glad when we got to "rejection sensitive dysphoria" in my IOP program and it was one of those symptoms where the therapists really emphasized how it affects others. Because it does.

Being someone who cannot handle rejection makes you much more likely to violate boundaries, and yes, that includes sexual ones. Yes, you, reader who has never hurt a fly. If you don't want to stumble backwards into sexually assaulting someone, fix your RSD meltdowns. If you keep them up it's only a matter of time. Because if you're nice enough to interact with, but are known to have RSD meltdowns, guess what happens when your friends and acquaintances need to reject you?

I run ads and campaigns and budgets for a few local properties as well as a couple national ones.

And let me tell you one thing you learn really early on.

PR IS EVERYTHING.

You can have the most damning receipts in the world, but if you present them while screaming, using slurs, or fighting with five other bloggers in the tags, the general public will immediately write you off.

Abusers like Lily rely on their critics looking unhinged. They want the critical sphere to look like a mob of screaming "living abortions" (to use her terminology) because it retroactively justifies her victimhood.

If the tag is full of documented receipts, Lily has nowhere to hide. But if the tag is clogged with people gossiping, infighting, and tearing each other apart, Lily doesn't have to defend herself at all. She can just screenshot the tag, show it to her remaining followers, and say: "See? I told you they were just a bunch of toxic, gossiping bullies. My 'victims' are just making things up for attention!"

That is exactly why I am so uncompromising about what goes into the "Lily Orchard Critical" tag.

This isn't about me wanting to be the "Queen Bee," or trying to dictate who is allowed to be angry, or establishing a "mean girl hierarchy." It is basic digital hygiene. It is search engine optimization.
