Let’s get one thing straight. I don’t know Jaci. I’ve never met Jaci. And I sure as hell know that none of y'all have met Jaci.

What I do know is that Jaci is a gorgeous, goddess of a woman that has the love of one Richard Speight Jr and has given him 3 amazing boys. If that isn’t enough for you as a fan to respect her, then please see yourself right the fuck out of this fandom.

For those of you who think Jaci is a “gold digger”, let me learn you a thing. Jaci was already a very successful woman when Rich and her met. She was the VP of sales of Gamespot, a volunteer firefighter who would parachute from helicopters to fight wildfires, AND an actress. If anyone was digging for gold, its him! Rich has even said (on Minivan Men) that Jaci is the breadwinner for the family and he’s the stay at home dad.

So, for those of you who think Jaci is not the best damn thing to ever happen to Rich, you are so so so wrong. And for those of you who are thirsting after him as a sugar daddy, you’re gonna have to tear him away from his sugar momma first.

May I add, that rich isn’t just “walking money”. He might not even get paid much at all. But before people start hating on rich, he has been working since he was 16 (!!) as an actor. He has directed too. Neither one of them are gold diggers. It is also very clear by not only this gif that they are in love with each other. But rich has stated before that he isn’t a big fan of photos of his family floating around the Internet. I don’t know where he has stated that but I know he did somewhere. It just further proves he loves his family very dearly. So if you can’t trust rich, get the fuck out? I’ll personally show you out the door. Rich obviously trusts her whole heartedly and that should be fucking enough.

Let’s talk about that Back Story

It wasn’t what I was expecting, but I’m honestly not upset about it. It introduced some conceptually cool characters and put a spin on Gabriel’s past that I actually find fascinating. And me, being an epic Norse Mythology nerd, I was pleased with a few little things.

First of all, you can tell the writers did their homework. Loki, according to mythology, was bound to a rock with one of his son’s intestines (not one of those featured in the show) and made to endure a snake’s venom dripping onto him as a form of torture. As the story goes, his wife Sigyn stands with a bowl to catch the drops, but when she must leave to empty it, the venom gets into his eye and he writhes in pain, which causes earthquakes.

(This now causes me to wonder what, in the Spn universe, happened to Sigyn?)

He was supposedly to remain there until Ragnarök. However, his plight with the snake is describes in the Völuspá, which takes place, in large part, in what is termed a “mythic past.” Yet, Loki himself appears–free and unhindered–in several other tales and legends. 

This awesomely fits with Gabriel’s given backstory, which makes me oddly happy. From the information we’re given, we can assume that at least most of Loki’s mythological shenanigans were actually Gabriel. WHICH by the way would mean that it was Gabriel, after all, who had his lips sewn shut in the Loki mythos, and not the real Loki. And that makes the whole thing with Asmodeus worse. 

Super enjoyable and well thought out, in my opinion. Not to mention the fact that Richard is an amazing actor and Loki was genuinely intimidating and visibly distinguishable from Gabriel. Like, h e c k. Well done, sir. 

My only complaint would be that, once again, we’re going for the “Loki is Odin’s son” plot line. And you know, honestly, I can live with it. It gives a good reason for Loki to have beef with Gabriel, and it gives the character some sympathetic qualities (his father was killed by someone who he thought he could trust, the same someone who is  going around killing his sons). I just feel like it is my duty as a norse nerd to let everyone know that, no, Loki is not Odin’s son. :)

My only issue regarding the “Loki is Odin’s son” plot is that it’s clearly retroactive canon.

Odin and Gabriel have -5% interaction in Hammer of the Gods. This either means that a) Loki and Odin aren’t (weren’t) close, which would make the rage about Odin’s death…strange. Unless it was a Dean/John parallel - son idolizes father, father is minimally involved.

Or it means b) Odin knew Gabriel was not actually Loki. This option is a little hazier because we didn’t see much of Odin anyway - his reactions, etc. This option may also make more sense because then it implies some level of trust between Loki and Gabriel and Odin - and Gabriel violated that trust and, in Loki’s eyes, allowed Odin to be killed. (Though, again, he tried to warn them. They just didn’t listen.)

Another thing, and someone else mentioned it but I forget who, Loki’s yelling about his sons being killed……..and he did nothing to help them? Boy, you just as guilty.

Narfi’s “monster face” being a skull - substituting him for Hel, the half-dead Goddess?

Odin mentioning the “great serpent” Jormungandr in Hammer of the Gods - Jormungandr was also one of Loki’s offspring

On the subject of Ragnarok - Odin refers to Fenrir as “a big wolf” - uh, Odin, he’s supposedly your grandson? (I’m blaming this on retcon.)

Even more about Ragnarok - wasn’t that the whole plot of the episode where we found out Garth was a werewolf? What happened with all that?

Was Ragnarok averted because Gabriel saved Loki? (And b/c Odin is dead…and Fenrir is dead…)

Another fun thing to consider is that Sleipnir is not only Loki’s son, but also an eight-legged horse which Odin rides. 

I mean, I don’t expect Spn to conform completely to any mythology they use in the show, especially when it comes from conflicting religious traditions (the Abrahamic creation/destruction vs. the Norse, for instance, if we’re talking about Ragnarök). 

But dang, it’s fun to think about.

Another reminder
