Spring was in full effect and Sabrina wanted to be outside soaking up all the rays and Vitamin D (bearing in mind that she did her skin care routine and applied sunscreen). Washington park was beautiful and she really didn’t appreciate it enough. A little walk along the trails with be good for her especially with one of her favorite people in the world.
When she moved into that house in Cherry Creek with her new family, Arthur was the first friend she made. They continued to be good friends throughout their childhood and she’ll never forget crying her eyes out when he moved away for college. The fact that he was back now felt like another example of the universe working in her favor. Spotting his familiar face as he walked up the path to her she called out, “I know I suggested this trail, but don’t get too excited. There will be no jogging, let alone running. We’re enjoying a leisurely stroll, got it?”

Manika wasn’t good at slowing down, or sitting down for that matter, but every now and then, she tried for the sake of being able to tell people that she did in fact make an effort, even if that effort mostly consisted of her caffeine intake shooting through the roof and making her even more fidgety than she already was. Nonetheless, she’d even brought a book - that she was sure she’d put down within the first few pages but again, she was trying at least. Her brows pulled together as she read yet another terribly boring paragraph when a loud notification sound from her phone ripped through the usual, weirdly calming bustle of the bakery. A gasp left her lips and she thanked the stars that her cup of coffee was almost empty so she didn’t spill it as she looked around in horror and held on to the rattling cup.
“I’m personally sueing whatever app that was - anyone who's advocating for less screen time is a dirty little liar, there's no going back for us now but also...they have a point at least and I'm starting to see it now," she sighed, turning her phone back on silent. "I'm terribly sorry about that."
“If the caffeine wasn’t getting me energized, that would have done it.” Sabrina giggled, placing her own coffee mug back on the table. “Phones, tv, the internet…honestly, we need to just bow down to our AI overlords and get it over with already. Have you seen those videos with those robo-dogs?” Her face shifted into a look of pure horror at the thought of those potential dangerous robots. “We are getting closer and closer to J-Day and I am not okay with it.”
Fresh coffee was brewing and breakfast was on the stove - a typical morning in the Robinson-Armstrong household. Sabrina was supposed to be coming over soon and Kai was looking forward to catching up. Even though they spoke often, it was always a treat to see their daughter.
Hearing the front door open, Kai smiles, wiping his hands off on a nearby dishtowel. “I’m in the kitchen!” He calls out, going to give Sabrina a hug when she comes into view. “Hey, kiddo. You want some coffee? Food’ll be ready soon too, I promise.”
Even though she’d moved out years ago, Sabrina still felt herself getting a little homesick at times. She definitely stayed in the family home longer than her peers did, but she was not ashamed. Why would she want to leave a house that filled her with happiness and made her feel safe because others got all judgy? Not her concern. She eventually did move out because she felt like it was time to let her parents have their own space again and she was ready to be on her own though she knew she could always come home if she needed anything.
A smile lit up her face as she squeezed Kai tightly. “Hi, Dad. Coffee sounds great.” She set her purse down on one of the stools and leaned against the counter. “What’s on the menu this morning?”
it was a successful tasting day, riding the high of positive feedback and confectioners sugar. she began to move her left over pastries in to-go containers then place one container on top of the other. ten minutes pass and twelve boxes are stacked on the table and ready to go. it wasn't until she took an actual look at her station when she realized, she wasn't entirely packed to go. she would still have her cardboard display to lug back out to her car. does she need to take it? not really...but she had spent money on it and she could use it again. the woman sighed, rubbing the back of her hand against her forehead, "hmmm." turning on her heels, searching for a kind face to bug, "hi ! could you help me get that display in my car ? " she asked out loud with a wide sheepish grin, " and i promise one or two of these boxes will have your name on it. "
Sabrina was on her way into the grocery store to search for her favorite ice cream when she was stopped by a familiar face. She noticed her friend’s predicament and couldn’t help letting out a chuckle. “Aitana, you should know by now my arm strength is abysmal, but I’m always willing to help out if it the prize is your delicious creations.”

whoever thought to add liquor to the liquid gold that was a shirley temple deserved only the highest of praise. iris would even go as far as saying it was the greatest gift granted in the world … the tater tot coming in close second by a hair. she could’ve popped those spuds like a heavy smoker would breath mints. really goes to show it doesn’t take much to keep her content. perhaps that’s why she’d been so smiley, lips latched onto the bendy straw, savoring the fruity concoction while she waited for the little red basket with red and white plaid parchment to drop in front of her. until then, peanuts would have to do. she cracked one open, shell finding its place in the small dish, and popped it in her mouth before swinging around on the stool. she couldn’t help but let her eyes wander, the place a people watcher’s dream … yet a certain encounter caught her attention more than others. “ hey, ” she piped up, body leaning in towards the unlucky ( or lucky, if one liked chatterboxes ) patron beside her, “ those two over there, ” a small nod in their direction. “ what d’you think their lore is, their story, y’know ? ”
Though her date bailed on her at the last minute, Sabrina would not let that ruin her night. This outfit was too cute not to be seen so she decided to chill at the bar for a couple hours anyway. She also did not plan on telling her friends about another failed date courtesy of a dating app. Maybe she just wasn’t a dating app person. Maybe she was someone that needed to be experienced up close and in person. It was probably time to delete the apps again. As she sipped on her drink, she was pulled out of her thoughts by the person next to her. She turned in her seat and followed the others girl’s eye line. “Hmm…” She murmured, as she pondered the scene in front of her. “Looks slightly tense so they’re having a serious conversation. But I’m also not sensing any anger. Roommates discussing house rules, perhaps?”
