Harding really is such a great counterpoint to Solas. She's gracious to a fault and very people-pleasing, two things Solas is not, but Harding also has a deep well of compassion even for people who hurt her—even someone who knew he made the Titans tranquil and created the blight and never offered more to her than a half-baked apology. She still looks at Solas and sees someone deeply lonely and caught up in his own mistakes, and she still believes he can do the right thing.

She also stands in stark contrast to Solas because she doesn't dwell on her regrets. She's upset with herself for not taking the shot at Solas during the ritual, but she talks about it with Neve and Rook and admits that she'll just have to live with it. She gently pushes Lucanis not to dwell on what happened at Weisshaupt, even though she accepts that he thinks it's helping. She reminds Emmrich that he's seeing the world right now and that youth isn't everything, and just because he didn't take opportunities to see the world before, that doesn't mean he wasted his time. She even comments casually that she could have lived a quiet life and probably gotten married with a couple of kids—but she can't really regret something she never had, and instead she's making the most of the life she is living. You simply could not populate the Crossroads with revenants powered by Lace Harding's regrets.

And it's carried through by the end, because while Solas talks a big game about making "the sacrifices leadership requires", Harding as the leader of her team instead sacrifices herself.
