i don’t hate lupin but i’d rather sirius’ hatred over lupin calling severus by his first name, acting like they’re friendly, not apologising despite pretending to be apologetic, lying and twisting what happened to harry. honestly as a bully victim, the second is worse because it’s gaslighting. it makes you feel ridiculous for being resentful and it presents your bully as a kind person in contrast to your bitterness and anger. it’s just awful and 100% understand why severus can’t stand him.

This is why I’m so adamant on ‘Dating Remus Lupin isn’t easy - because he can so easily fall into being abusive’ He LIVES like this. He is NEVER authentic to ANYONE. He tries to control everyone he knows - ESPECIALLY the people he likes - and when he can’t control them he gets so anxious that they’ll hate him that he avoids them and runs away.

Severus and Sirius openly say nasty things to the people they don’t like. They will say they look weir and are stupid. They are honest and open about disliking people. You always know where you stand.

Remus will pretend to be their best friend. They will say things that make everyone else go ‘Oh they get along swimmingly’ - except the person he dislikes feels like they are going mad. Is Remus being polite? Or is he really grinding the boot in? Does he like me…? Or is this all just a big trick? And they can’t go and ask anyone for help or support - they look paranoid and silly. Imagine Severus talking to Minerva or someone about Remus being insufferable. ‘Severus you’re making a big deal out of nothing - he seems to tolerate you quite well.’ And you know what? He does the exact same thing to the people he LOVES. He acts all lovely and then drops them whenever he feels a little wobble in his heart, and they never know why.

the one thing that will always make me furious is the way marauders fans downplay what happened in snape's worst memory. they had snape in the air, in front of a whole crowd, and exposed his underwear to everyone obviously against his will, then threatened to remove that too - which we have no reason to presume they didn't do. james was riled up and being cheered on, there was nobody there to stop him, no teachers nearby and we all know that remus wasn't going to say anything even though he was a prefect.

that is a form of sexual harassment, even if the underwear did stay on, and regardless of intention. and if you still can't see it, imagine how it would look if snape had been a girl. not a prank or joke or argument. call it what it actually was!

there is just simply no excuse for it either. snape was not a death eater, he hadn't done anything to them. he was a child simply sitting under a tree and minding his own business. and i truly believe that this is part of why it was his worst memory - yes, partially because he lost lily in this scene, but that's not the only reason. what happened here could leave anyone traumatised. he did not deserve that, in fact nobody does. this scene already disgusted me the first time i read the books way before i even liked snape. hell, it disgusted harry too. if harry, who has every right to hate snape, can see that it was horrible and call out sirius and remus who he loves so much, why can't you?

i work at a children's hospital. as per hospital regulations, all employees have to go through regular fire safety trainings. most of it is pretty standard. and then there's the Baby Vest.
