A concept:

A run down mall repurposed into a school. You walk in through the glass doors that stand ajar in the weather. There are plants growing in crevices and cracks while beams of soft light come breaking through holes in the roof. Foot Locker is the student storage centre and other stores serve as classrooms. The book stores are Libraries and That One Furniture store is the teachers lounge. Food courts are cafeterias and broken escalators are only used by the older students. the fountain in the mall’s centre is the common area and customer service is the office.

This is a dystopia I’m LIVING for.

Ok I saw a rb of this with some context and I only remember like half of it so I’m also using Google I may get some of this wrong

But apparently the “first errand” thing isn’t just a cute little fact about the little kid, it’s a totally real thing done in Japan to teach kids that they can like rely on the community to offer assistance if they need it. They send their kids (like 2-3 years old) out alone to perform a relatively simple errand like going to a convenience store and buying a carton of milk. (There’s even a tv show where a camera crew follows children as they accomplish this first errand.) It’s not uncommon to see kids as young as 6-7 riding the subway alone because they’ve gained this sense of independence that comes from knowing that there will be people to help out if they need it.

I got locked outside today

I got locked outside in the rain today, and I highly recommend it. Not being locked outside per-say, but standing in the rain.

I thought i could be cliché by standing in the rain with my face turning skyward and my eyes closed.

But then I wondered something, see, the rain felt weird. Nice, but each drop surprising. I thought, this is what it would feel like to have your freckles painted on.

And then I came to the conclusion that, that was exactly mother nature’s intention.

I don’t think I’ve ever really felt safe before. Like sure, there’s those times where I’m curled up in my room alone listening to R&B, or walking down the street in the fresh air finally feeling alive (at least for a couple minutes). But home was only a familiarty, like that song you always hear on the radio or how you shower in the morning before breakfast. But today I finally felt safe, In an unfamiliar place. With circumstancial family and an unhealthy obsession to books that make me feel like somebody understands. And these people; They understand. And it was like finally, I didn’t have to find every exit or sit in the corner facing the door. I was free.

I’ve never blogged before but in a world where my generation is scrutinized and hated while at the same time being known as the generation of change, I feel obligated to speak out on a platform where I’ve been told people will listen. We take the most shit to be this revolutionary generation, it’s said that we can do anything or be anyone. We talk about speaking out and standing up, but we are mostly standing by ourselves. I’m 15, but I’m already subjected to the cruelty of categorization in society where Identifying as a human being isn’t good enough. I’m Pan, but I’m terrified of commitment when every relationship I’ve seen in my life is set in hatred and negligence. Am I really Pan? I’m open to the Idea of loving anybody but maybe the label is founded on desperation for acceptance no matter who it comes from. Because having friends and ‘family’ isn’t good enough. Not because I’m selfish but because I just want to be loved truly and wholely. But I can’t say for sure, because who says I’ll feel like this a month from now. Or even just a couple of days. But a label is convenient, so that I can be discriminized, scrutinized, held to standards explicitly used to deteriorate the self esteem and humanity of ‘my kind’. But people, people are my kind. You and I. Gen z is told we will succeed, that we are gonna be okay, that we are the most accepting generation. But how can anyone my age believe that? In the last year, three people I knew commit suicide. And about seven tried. How can everyone say we’ll make it when we don’t even believe we will get out of high school? The only thing my generation has come to accept is that death would be easier then trying to sort out the mess humanity’s made.
