Hunk sighs lightly as he gently sets his hand atop of the Princess’s shoulder, concern shining within his warm eyes. “Allura,” He speaks softly. “I’m thinking that it might be time for you to go get some rest. You’re really overworking yourself.”

They giggle, not at all fazed by the squirming boy in their arms. “Shh, I’ll put you down in a second, I promise.” Well, by down, they mean they’re going to sit down some where with Keith still in their lap while they coax Keith to talk about his feelings. It works with literally everyone else, so it’s bound to work on Keith eventually.

“You’re surprisingly light buddy. Remind me to feed you more!” They say, mildly concerned as they begin to walk towards the Paladin’s dorms.

“Oh?” This girl was a tad bit smarter than what she’d originally seemed. This causes Hunk’s smile to strengthen. She always loved it when people revealed that they were more than what they initially seemed. It’s sort of like putting puzzle pieces together, each connecting until there’s a full picture. 

Though, Hunk nearly chokes on her spit when the Galran girl reveals her dagger. She quickly shoots Keith a concerned look, because holy shit kids really shouldn’t carry around weapons like that.”Yeah? And, um, who’s Chian?” She eyes the blade wearily. “Are they friends with Keith too?”

If we’re being honest here, Hunk did feel a tad bit uneasy when she first glimpsed at her, but the Galra was merely a child. And most of the time your race didn’t define who you really are. She does, however, shoot Keith a glance that asked an unspoken question. Where did you find her? As far as Hunk was aware, they were on a planet untouched by the Galran Empire.

She shakes the small, clawed hand offered to her gently, marveling slightly at the size comparison. Her hands were rather large, weren’t they? “She did? And where is your mama at? I don’t think she’s going to be happy to see those frills missing.” Hunk teases lightly, releasing her small hand from her own.

Hunk stalks close to Keith, silently watching the moping teenager. The disappearance of Shiro had taken a rather large toll on them all, but Keith in particular was taking it the worst. The boy needed a little TLC, and Hunk was going to be damned if they were going to let him go without it for another second. 

Without warning, they wrap their large arms around Keith’s torso and lifts him up into their embrace. This way there’s no way Keith can escape them now!

The first thing that Hunk notices is how tired Lance looks. Did he get any sleep last night? Does this happen every night? That’s a worrisome thought, and Hunk is definitely going to look into it later. Staying up all night isn’t healthy, especially with the situation they’re in at the moment. He needs a proper sleep to be able to function, and if she has to treat him like Pidge then so be it.

A million possibilities flash through her head, like what if the Castle was attacked and Lance couldn’t stay focused and gets seriously injured? Or when they’re training he moves to sluggishly and one of the bots, or worst, one of them, accidentally hurts him. Hunk quickly has to shake those thoughts away, because like hell is she letting anxiety ruin ths. 

Hunk will let it it go for now. The last thing Lance probably wants on his birthday is for her to mom him to death. So instead she grins real big and nods enthusiastically. “Yes! Well, sort of! They taste and look basically the same. I couldn’t find a way to duplicate chocolate, so they’re just normal pancakes sadly.” That was actually a little disappointing to her, because what’s better than chocolate pancakes?

“Anyways, since it’s your birthday and all, I only made them for you!” She knows the team will be jealous once they find out, but they can suck it up because it’s Lance’s birthday. She just hoped Lance won’t rub it in their faces. 

“So are you just gonna stand there and gawk at them or are you going to try a bite?” She teases at him lightly, grin still playing joyfully at her lips.

Hunk gets up this morning feeling immense excitement.  Today was special. Well, everyday was special, but today in particular was extra special because it was Lance’s birthday! She’d been counting down the days since last month, planning every minute of her best friend’s birthday. Everything had to be perfect for Lance, because he deserves the absolute best. 

The first step of her glorious plan was to make Lance breakfast. Which wasn’t unusual, but on the last planet they visited she found a recipe strikingly similar to pancakes. And Lance loved her pancakes or at least he seemed to act like it back at the garrisson. Hunk had to wake up at an inhumane time for this to be sure that the breakfast was ready before the rest of the Castle woke up.

Making the pancakes lookalikes (Hunk couldn’t remember the name of them for the life of her.) took no time, and pretty soon she was ready to serve it to the Blue Paladin. Which leads us up to step two, serve it to him in bed. She knew his mother used to do this for him, so Hunk wanted to recreate that vibe as best as possible.

“Lance,” She knocks lightly on the door leading to his bedroom, balancing the tray of breakfast in one hand. “Hey buddy, time to wake up! I have a surprise for you~” Hunk feels a little guilty for waking him up two hours before the official wake up call, but she knows Lance’ll forgive her once he sees what she’s done for him. Hopefully.

Hunk’s lips curve into a soft and warm smile, eyes dancing joyfully with a excited glint. She’d never thought that Keith would manage to find a friend so quick. It genuinely made the cajun teen happy to know that her close friend and teammate had managed to connect with someone outside of team Voltron.

“I’m so happy for you Keith! I always knew you’d come out of that shell of yours eventually.”

She then turns to the person being introduced, and her grin softens into more of a friendly, welcoming grin. “Howdy to you too, partner!” Hunk has to bend down quite a bit to see eye to eye with her, but she offers out a hand in greeting. “I’m glad you like yellow too! It’s always been a personal favourite of mine. I like your dress by the way, it’s very lovely!”
