As much as we make fun of men having pictures with fish as their profile picture on tinder, I am legitimately into it when it’s a butch woman…

self help books have an awful reputation, but are there any you like?
hey honey, please don't apologize. i'm sorry you're not doing well lately, i really am 🫂
i am not well-versed in the self-help genre in a way that allows me to recommend any books to you; i only know about the criticisms of the industry. however, don't let that discourage you. i'd recommend going to your local library or bookstore and just browse to see if anything resonates with you. be sure to keep an open mind; that's what i do when i'm interested in reading in a new genre. i'm sure something will speak to you, and i think you're right to try something. i actually conquered the panic attacks i developed during grad school by working through a self-help cognitive behavioral therapy workbook. my therapist did nothing for me; those authors, however, taught me skills i use to this day. books are powerful!
I’ve found atomic habits to be really helpful. It’s definitely one of those “popular for a reason” books. Other than that 100% agree with @zendayaimdb, just see what looks interesting. Take whatever inspires you and use it to further yourself and toss the rest. Speaking as someone who’s working on dragging myself out of a hole.

so cool how this woman-beating narcissistic fucking freak just got a hagiographic image rehab profile in the hollywood reporter and his movie is getting a full court press wide release because his famous buddies decided to go to bat for him and the whole world has decided that you can just beat and strangle whatever women you want as long as you can get the type of people on social media who think "it's actually okay because he beat up a WHYTE woman" on your side
i'm just going to say it: the way this man and his PR and legal teams have capitalized on the tone and toxicity of online racial discourse to justify this kind of violence because it was the "right" kind of woman to abuse, and the fact that many women online got on board with it, is a very damning sign of how cooked feminism is.
As a white woman who has been abused by a past male sexual partner who also happened to be a person of color, I can tell you that when I went to the hospital for my injuries, they were more focused on what I had done to provoke him (nothing) than they were the fact that he had beaten the shit out of me. "This could turn into a racial issue for him and that's not the case here," is what the nurse and officer both said to me.
He beat me, but because I'm a white woman, my statement that he beat me would look bad on the black community. It doesn't matter that he was black and that I'm white - he was a man who hurt a woman just because he could.
we all hate jonathan majors here, but what is it exactly that you are suggesting, op? are you suggesting that majors is getting an image rehab because he is black? rather than because he is a man? i’m trying really hard to give you the benefit of the doubt here, i’m thinking that perhaps you aren’t aware that famous black men get away with beating and raping their black partners all the time. chris brown is an outspoken abuser of primarily non-white women, and his career continues to thrive, for example. or perhaps we need to revisit the case of michael fassbender beating the shit out of several of his black girlfriends, blaming it on “alcoholism” and then going on to face exactly zero repercussions? fassbender didn’t even get fired like majors did, dude. literally no one gave a fuck.
or maybe you’re only concerned about white women who are victims—in that case, you’ve forgotten that famous white men who attack white women also suffer no consequences and have the public on their side? you know, like in the johnny depp and blake lively cases radical feminists are currently obsessed with? and racist white men who beat the shit out of white women have also been coming back to hollywood in a big way with mel gibson’s also THR-facilitated image rehab, along with that which alec baldwin benefited from years ago. these guys get the benefit of the doubt because they’re powerful and famous men. not due to their race. at most, race is another angle for apologists to exploit, but there’s no evidence that black men get away with abuse because they’re black, rather than because they’re men.
genuinely, i am wondering why you’ve chosen to frame the issue this way (no one cares because the victim was a white woman)? again, are you suggesting that people would care if she was black? would you like me to tell you that the majority of femicide victims in the US are black? that approximately six black women are murdered every single day in my country, also primarily by black men like majors? but the majority of those cases go unsolved? i certainly hope you’re not suggesting that black women have some kind of systemic privilege over white women when it comes to this issue. i really hope that’s not what i’m seeing here today. i feel that is the implication you’re very strongly suggesting.
i am reblogging this version of the post so my followers can see both how op fails to support her claim with her cited evidence (which features majors making typical domestic abuser threats, but doesn’t appear to uh “capitalize on the toxicity of online racial discourse”) and also to tell the person who shared their abuse story this: i am sorry you were assaulted. “protect the black community” is something black women are also told when they’re abused by black men. quite famously, megan thee stallion was pressured to keep quiet by everyone around her. this isn’t a new issue; tina turner was almost beaten to death by her husband, but her doctor told her to shut up because speaking out “gives us a bad name”. when she died recently, people were still slandering her and calling her a race traitor.
so, again, this isn’t about protecting black people, it’s about protecting men. it’s about patriarchy. when you frame this as an issue of race rather than patriarchy, you are perpetuating racism. look: i’m not going around to posts about abusive white men and sharing my story of how white boys took turns raping me and then bragged about without consequence. frankly, the thought didn’t even cross my mind until just now, because i don’t associate all white people with my abusers.
so i daresay you two need to seriously examine your motivations and rhetoric here, because the implications are really troubling.
did the op of that jonathan majors post hide your addition or is tumblr just being weird as always? i've noticed this on a few occasions where you add to a post making excellent points about about racism, misogynoir, etc and then all of the sudden i can't find your addition in the reblogs. again, it could just be that tumblr sucks so i don't wanna jump to conclusions but i also wouldn't put it past most bloggers on here to try to silence you for challenging their thinly veiled racism
oh yes, indeed, she did.
see, i was sat here, waiting for her to clarify. instead, she erased both my response and @lesb0’s excellent reblog (here https://www.tumblr.com/lesb0/778373877381414912/by-saying-right-kind-of-woman-op-is-framing).
she actually went a step further and blocked me. the reblogs from that white woman still stand, though. she has completely moved on. she well and truly doesn’t care.
ladies, there’s nothing we can do except tell the truth as we know it.
i think we can safely say that popular radical feminist blogger roycohn is posting content that is race-baiting at least, and in my opinion actively racist.
when txttletale did the exact same thing to me and pumpum, the fury toward him was intense. somehow i doubt this fucking woman will be held to the same standard.
white radical feminists, what are you going to do about this? anything at all? unfollow her, at least? i hope? perhaps? like i am seriously at a fucking loss here
if it's not too personal, can you speak a little about how you came to the conclusion to no longer identify as trans?
Hey, it's not too personal! I appreciate this ask because I think that more women should explore the option to detransition and just live as GNC women because it's actually more patriarchy smashing and cool lmao.
Basically, I'm pretty dysphoric and I have been for a long time (i guess since i was a teenager) and before i identified as "trans" i would trigger myself a lot by looking at pictures of men that were like my 'inspiration' for my gender. i started identifying as non binary and then as trans masc with 'any pronouns' even though i also still identified as a radical feminist. i felt very much like being trans and a radical feminist could co-exist because i didn't deny that i was born female and was very clearly female even when i dressed GNC or straight up typically male and that female people are oppressed and socialized female etc, etc. i still don't have any issues with he/him lesbians if they're not fully on an annoying pro-male gender crusade because i know it's dysphoria reducing to do it.
i bought a binder (which i still have and don't mind using because my breasts are my most dysphoric part of my body for me) and started using new pronouns (they/she at the time but i was gearing up to go nuclear with the 'any pronouns' in my real life but was already using them online) to signal to the real people in my life that i was on a new path wrt my gender. i was beginning to consider getting a mastectomy because someone i knew irl got one and they seemed so fucking happy and i was so jealous. but honestly my decision to not do it basically started my detransition journey.
i realized that it would be step one in a long line of steps that would never make me look like the men i was triggering myself with. it was a hard pill to swallow because i still want to look like that lmao but it was also embarrassing to think about myself as this goofy looking man with a woman's body. so many trans men have other neurosis about how they look that they develop eating disorders and other negative habits to maintain their perfect androgynous body. i realized that i was never going to look like those 'cis' men because i cannot change my genetics and magically become a 6 foot tall man. I'm short and chubby and i would have to develop those same really negative traits to look androgynous enough to even be sort of happy with how i look without being the height i want to be with a flat chest and no hips.
i had to really begin to internalize the idea that being a woman isn't a problem and that the person who i was so jealous of for getting her gender affirming care was only doing it because she couldn't bring herself to see her female body as hers, to accept that she was a woman and a lesbian and that nothing about that was wrong and needed to be changed. then i felt sad for her--being female is such a gift and being a lesbian even more so and she wanted to distance herself from it as much as possible to the point that she's now removed her breasts and if she regrets it or changes her mind there is no going back.
i decided that i couldn't be an effective feminist if i subscribed to gender ideals because they are incompatible with feminist praxis. especially when you make the 'no gender' thing into it's own gender with it's own set of rules and stereotypes.
idk tl; dr i had to unlearn gender stuff and also accept that despite my dysphoria telling me ps5 style 'it's me, boy, your male brain!' i am not in fact ever going to be a man, a male or a moid. rip.
“peter (a young english girl)”, a portrait of the painter gluck (born hannah gluckstein, also known as peter to friends), painted by romaine brooks, 1924
mark my words, jo is going to go full white nationalist this year. she has been in an echo chamber or reactionary white women for a decade now, and her primary supporters are blood and soil types. this is a really sad development, because she was once an excellent, honest voice espousing radical feminism.
it seems like i was unclear.
i understand that jo’s is being facetious (i assume!) to scold the left. that doesn’t matter. what matters is the impact: the tweet is incredibly viral; she threw red meat to the conservatives. it’s the number one story on apple news right now.
as reactionaries and maga are attempting to dismantle our liberal democracy, jo is scolding the left for empowering these people with their gender insanity. she’s so myopic. obviously i agree with her about gender issues, but her priorities—like the priorities of most white radical feminists—are completely fucked.
she’s sitting there using a platform owned by a white supremacist to attack the left and it just doesn’t sit well with me. and let’s not forget that she’s cozy with anna slatz, who is a neo-nazi, along with a bunch of other “trad rad” european feminists. the image jo tweeted is chilling—it makes my blood run cold to see all these blond white children surrounding and worshipping the president, but jo doesn’t comment on that. instead she presents it as trump protecting these children. which, whatever, you can think he is, but that really does not matter right now, to me, because there are so many more pressing issues to fucking worry about.
her tunnel vision in her feminism is compromising her judgment, in my opinion. and this is how white feminists are radicalized into white supremacists. i’ve seen it a million times.
I don't think being a journalist and believing in freedom of speech is the same thing as being a Neo-nazi, in regards to Anna Slatz, and to accuse JKR of such things bc she's "cozy" with her is a long reach. At least in financial and political action, JKR is a real feminist, and she has done a lot to ensure that the needs of women and girls of colour are acknowledged and met.
The little girls in the photo aren't all white, and fairness and safety in women's sport, as we know, is not a white issue.
It's pretty clear that JKR is trying to point out how sick it is that these children have to thank a monster for keeping them safe. The left has created a situation where these girls, these athletes, have to crowd around a rapist, who has and will continue to take away their bodily autonomy, and thank him for at least keeping them safe from boys and adult men taking away their hard-won athletic achievements and putting them under the constant threat of harassment and sexual assault.
Here's some more photos of the event:
Reading comprehension questions for OP:
1. Who does Rowling mean when she says “every single person on the left who’ve been campaigning to destroy women’s rights?”
2. Why does Rowling believe the picture would not exist without them?
3. Does Rowling think this picture is a good thing or a bad thing, and how do you know?
in response to thecoloredcanvas:
1. anna slatz isn’t a “free speech advocate” she’s a actual neo-nazi at worst, and a sympathizer with neo-nazi beliefs at best. she was outed as having these beliefs on twitter years ago. she advocates for the total separation of the races and thinks that black people are genetically inferior to white people. she isn’t a feminist, because she doesn’t think black women and brown muslim women have the same value as white women. jo and many “feminists” on this website give her a pass because she publishes reduxx. it’s disgusting and shameful.
2. if i missed one brown child in the photo jo used, my bad. but after studying it for several seconds, which is as long as most people look at it, it frankly recalls hitler youth propaganda. it is a mass of white spawn encircling trump and thanking them for safeguarding their innocence. if you don’t understand how insidious this propaganda is, i can’t help you. the additional photos you shared show one delusional black woman in a sea of evil white faces. the maga movement is synonymous with white nationalism. this trans athlete ban is part of a broader domestic platform meant to restore “traditional families” and to reaffirm white supremacy in all aspects of american culture. my friends are being harassed out of their government jobs for the crime of trying to promote equity in hiring. these maga people aren’t feminists, they don’t dislike trans and gender issues for feminists reasons, they simply hate anything that is transgressive. i don’t subscribe to realpolitik or allying with my enemies to achieve political goals because the ramifications are disastrous.
3. if you’re cheering on the maga anti-trans efforts and publicly praising them, as jo is, then you’re complicit in normalizing this monstrous administration. these are the same people who removed our right to choose. any feminist who thinks l internet men claiming to be women is a more pressing issue than reproductive freedom needs to log off.
i actually really like jo. i admire her. so seeing her slow slide into reactionary politics is like a knife to the back for me. women who sympathize with the far right because they’re frustrated about trans issues are weak-willed sex traitors who have abandoned their sisters. maybe i’m wrong and jo will surprise me, but if i’m right and she continues to ingratiate herself with the likes of elon musk (who is a big fan of hers!) then i guess i’ll simply be able to say i told you so. which doesn’t feel good. i’m not happy about this shit.
in response to the woman i'm reblogging this from:
next time you radfems are sitting around wondering why everyone says you're a bunch of racist femcels, reflect on how your first reaction to a black woman calmly explaining why she believes a white woman public figure is backsliding into reactionary politics was to treat her like she's stupid and condescend to her. on this very post you reblogged, i explained why i still take issue with the tweet, despite the facetiousness. you ignored that to instead call me stupid. would you like to call me a DEI hire next?
Recently realized I’ve been self-sabotaging for the past like 10 years. Some of it I can excuse, with most of it being time I’ve been extremely stressed. The past three years though, I really should have grown up haha. It’s been this lingering thought that if I ever let myself be genuinely happy I’ll surely die somehow. Guess it’s the trauma from the clots staying around. Definitely something to work on.

Why do my interests in canning, couponing, and homesteading overlap so often with blogs with titles like ‘The Obedient Housewife’?
Like, I’m like, “I want to learn to make soap and farm,” and suddenly I see 500 “traditional family” motherfuckers like no you are mistaken. I am just a simple lesbian anticapitalist looking to limit my consumerism as much as possible.
‘these fun crafts will keep your kids occupied until your husband gets home!’ no i want a clothespin crown for me
As a nerd who homesteads, let me share the data I have gathered!
First is my megalist of homesteading-related links I’ve gathered over the years. I’m a mod over at r/homesteading and this is where I’ve put a lot of good sources (not all, admittedly some are still sitting in my bookmark folder waiting to be added). The search function at reddit is wretched, but there’s also been lots of good things I’ve shared there too. Please note that many of these sources are not actual webpages, but PDFs. That’s not an accident, PDFs are where you find the really good in-depth stuff.
Many of my sources are from the Extension Service. They won’t try to relate to you based on your lifestyle or sexual identity or religion or whatever, but due to that, they also won’t be alienating you either.
The Cooperative Extension Service (US only) exists in all 50 states and in most counties. It is taxpayer funded. The Extension Service exists to help people become more self sufficient, for farmers to be more successful, for people to be healthier, for kids to be well adjusted, to figure out how to grow the best plants in your area, etc. Some county offices even offer cheap classes in things like gardening, canning, soap making, and they’re taught by people with training in these areas (I once heard a great talk on composting from a soil scientist that way). Do you want to know what type of plant something is? Do you need help figuring out a plant disease or pest issue? You can now contact them online and get great info.
I HIGHLY recommend checking out your state’s extension service website, because they do offer different types of information, depending on what is grown/raised where you are (and how well funded they are). My county extension puts out a monthly gardening newsletter, which includes a helpful ‘this is the time of the year to do —-’ part.
Here’s an example from North Carolina - check out that left sidebar
Here’s an example from California - this website is HUGE so dig around
Here’s an example from New York - they have a calendar at the bottom, showing how they have things like hydroponic and urban agriculture workshops coming up.
Interested in raising animals? Penn State Extension is really really good. They have tons of free materials and courses available online, some I pulled for my megalist at the top of this.
National Center for Home Food Preservation - they cover the important aspects of food safety, and also have some recipes. Many state Extension Service websites will have lots more recipes.
If you have kids, check out 4-H programs for them. It’s part of the local public school system here. If you’re homeschooling, you can also purchase their science-filled educational and self sufficiency materials (materials are divided by age ranges - Cloverbud Member: ages 5-8, Junior Member: ages 9-13, Senior Member: ages 14-19). One of my coworkers is in 4-H, she’s still in high school, and last year she raised an award-winning heifer.
Congress grants the money for funding these programs, and they’re connected with various universities. There’s a level of cutting edge scientific knowledge and academic rigor you don’t find in blogs or even most books. There’s LOTS of homesteading books filled with outdated information like ‘till the earth every year’ hell I still have older coworkers who do it and I’m trying to figure out how to gently tell them that they’re destroying their soil that way, and that there’s better methods now, methods grounded in science.
Knitting - try this youtube series
DIY Crown - here’s a youtube video on how to make a mermaid crown
Hope this is helpful to someone out there.
HOLY FUCKIN SHIT BLESS
In Colorado CSU extension does seed swaps and educational workshops at local libraries. A small town library I sometimes go o for events has a seed library as well. I highly recommend looking at resources your local libraries have. (I’m including libraries much farther than the ones in my city and the neighboring city , sometimes I travel an hour for a library thing if I think it’s valuable enough to my life)
