Of all the tags on this post this is the one that worries me most
gorgeous summer berry display at the market
My typical day is
- wake up, make espresso, play with the kittens
- bike to work; stop and eat wild berries by the lake and watch the sunrise
- bike home from work; stop at the lake to swim & read a bit
- eat dinner; something quick & easy & vegetarian
- if staying in for the night; making art/ hanging with my neighbors or roommate/ watching movies
- if going out (most nights tbh); seeing friends or my sister/ gay bar/ dive bar/ live music/ DJ sets
- return home to sleep in my clean bed, in my beautiful apartment, w my perfect kittens
And the entire day I get to interact with my lovely city; mostly everyone is interesting, lively, and positive. I love chatting with people on the street. I love how other bikers smile and wave when we pass each other. I love getting to know my neighbors. I love spending a whole day talking entirely to queer people. I love seeing other transgender people living their daily lives unbothered every single day. I feel like I’m living the best life I could have made for myself. I love Minneapolis.
I’m 27 years old and I’m single for the first time since being 15- which I was scared to do for fear of the unknown- but I’m finding so much love in community. I am grateful. I feel fulfilled. I couldn’t be much happier to be honest.
I love my life
reminders i need to like, tattoo on my brain:
1. if you feel judged and hurt by others, try sleeping
2. if you feel judgmental and resentful of others, try eating (the classics)
3. if you feel uncomfortable, try showering
4. if you feel directionless and afraid, go sit outside for a bit and maybe then you'll calm down. maybe even a walk if youre feelin crazy
5. take it easy, but by god, take it
oh and how could i forget. final boss. take your fucking medication
''what if you regret it'' then you will expirience regret - a normal and unavoidable part of the human expirience.
the more you twist yourself into a pretzel to avoid regret the harder it will hit when it eventually catches up to you.

Being a calm, gentle, non-reactive person is really hard work, which is probably why many people are none of these things. Personally I think it’s worth it but sometimes one does want to just roll around on the floor wailing at the top of one’s lungs
People in my notes who think I’m repressed or dissociating: you will feel better when you learn emotions are not a binary of Not Feeling It vs Being Overwhelmed By It

Thank you, but do you have any advice for teens?
So my FIRST piece of information if you’re still a teen is that genuinely as you get older it will get easier to regulate your emotions. During adolescence our brains are undergoing a lot of growth and change that genuinely does make it harder to do this, on a scientific level. However, practicing emotional regulation skills can still help a lot and if you can find something that works it will make life easier going forward

“Oh how do you stay positive when the world is so awful how can you stay positive when our lives are falling apart-“ SPITE!!!!! ITS SPITE GODDAMN IT!!! REMEMBER WHEN YOU WERE ANGRY AT THE WORLD AS A TEENAGER?? THAT KID WAS RIGHT AND YES IT FUCKING SUCKS AND NO, ITS NOT FAIR, SO YOU HAVE TO KEEP TRYING TO MAKE IT FAIR!!!!
Literally!! Also it takes so much fucking mental work to CHOOSE to be angry and pissy every single day. I think it’s true anyways. Being happy and positive when the world is awful is a protest to those who want others to be angry every day.
