If there is one thing I wish well-meaning but uninformed people understood about the ongoing attack on trans people it is that transphobes lie constantly and their actions prove this.

When they say they just have legitimate concerns about the safety of women and children they're lying.

When they say they care about the integrity and fairness of women's sports they're lying.

When they say are just trying to stand up for freedom of speech they're lying.

And when they say they're "gender critical", "gender abolitionists", or "anti-gender" what they really mean is that they want strict gender policing and segregation and transition bans and also that they are terminally bioessentialist.

Even trans people on here often seem to buy that last point and assume that radfems are in any way sincere advocates for gender abolition. They're not. They're doing motte-and-bailey rhetoric on you.

pop health science is so annoying bc it'll be like "did you know? eating strawberries will give you mega cancer" and you're like pfft whatever begone influencer. but sometimes then you'll see a reasonably credible article like "Study Shows Possible Link Between Strawberries and Mega Cancer" and you're not usually the type to follow that kind of thing religiously but idk maybe you should consider not eating strawberries? but then there's another article saying "Strawberry/Mega Cancer Study Debunked" and it turns out the original study had a sample size of 3 and was funded by Big Blueberry, and strawberries may have a small connection to mega cancer but only if you are genetically predisposed to mega cancer and eat 50 strawberries every day. so you return to your strawberry eating life. but whenever you eat strawberries in public someone tells you about the mega cancer.

When I say "Birds are Dinosaurs" and you say "No you know what I mean, when we say dinosaurs we mean Something Else" I think like... you don't know what I mean.

There's sort of a constructed category of dinosaurs as these scaly, powerful, outdated animals, and birds as these delicate modern animals, and I want you to understand that these ideas are based on outdated science and human biases. That birds can and have grown huge and predatory, that dinosaurs were a hugely diverse group that had grazers and small arboreal animals and fast intelligent ones.

Birds are a category of dinosaur, the only one we have left around. Appreciate them, demythologize dinosaurs, and destroy the boxes you put nature into.

i never really got it when people made posts about light pollution and seeing all the stars for the first time and crying. i always assumed that everyone has gone on a road trip to a bortle 1.0 place and seen stars like that, and it's fantastic, but not like life changing. and then i went to europe last month and was in a mountaintop village of like 300 people and could see about 5 stars in the sky. like fewer than i can see from my home in a big metropolitan city.
