okay. OKAY i know this was a joke but i’m STILL gonna talk about it because when i heard ranboo, sneeg, techno, and scott joking about how they can’t just play minecraft anymore it needs to be Lore, i just started TWITCHING and i need to talk about this.
the chances of any cc seeing this? like negative two i’m making this post for ME babes. but if they see it that’s a bonus i guess ALRIGHT HERE WE GO—
i’m not a streamer. i don’t make videos or anything, much less do it as my main income source. i don’t know how stressful it is, but i know that sometimes you just have to do things for the views. i get that!
but if you’re making lore because other people like it, if you’re crafting stories and not enjoying making them, then don’t. just don’t do it! people don’t want to watch you make a story you’re not enjoying! i’m not a streamer or video maker, but i am an artist and a writer! if i’m not enjoying myself while making art or stories, it shows in the final product immensely, no matter how hard i work on it.
lore doesn’t have to be super sad or intricate or shocking. lore can literally just be you playing minecraft with your friends with superpowers. if you enjoy playing with them, and you want to add more depth to your little superpowered oc, go for it! god knows i do that all the time (i play an evoker on our origins server and she’s got lots of lore that i developed on the fly as stuff on the server hit me in the face). the moon’s impact on hermitcraft was lore, but so was scar’s copper wagon backstory, a piece of storytelling conveyed almost entirely through the builds he made. you guys do not have to do Lore for every series— trust me, if the fans want lore and stories, they’ll make their own! we have a habit of taking the barest minimum of anything and going wild with it, okay? you guys CAN just play minecraft together, i promise, you don’t have to worry about planning anything out.
tl;dr: not all storytelling has to be Capital L Lore with angst and sadness, seriously, and not all lore has to be stated or planned or big! if you don’t like doing a certain style of storytelling, don’t! don’t do it! seriously, don’t. awesome thanks bye
oh jesus this kinda blew up while i was in class PFFT—
i’m still sitting in marinesci, but people in the tags are absolutely right! @wither-rose-circus had a great point: the fans need to hear this just as much as the ccs do, probably even more.
if you’re a fan who really likes lore, great! me too! stories are fun! there’s nothing wrong with liking a character and wanting more content of them. HOWEVER. where we cross the line there is when enough of those people start putting pressure on the ccs to make more content that they specifically want. this is where people feel like they HAVE to do stuff or their audience won’t like it, when in fact, there’s a lot of people who will love whatever they do.
so just. practice some fan etiquette. encourage the ccs you like to do what they want when they want! we enjoy their content for free a lot of the time and they don’t get scheduled breaks or anything. if your cc likes doing lore, that’s awesome! just, y’know, be chill about it.
I think dsmp fandom should take the family headcanoning as far as possible. the entire dsmp is one big and very awkward family reunion gone wrong
LOOK UPON MY MASTERPIECE MONSTROCITY AND CRY

My stomach hurts because I can't stop laughing at a Reddit thread where someone asked for help identifying their "not dead" plant that could not more clearly be dead if it were found in a pharaoh's tomb

Vintage on disability rights.
Don’t let the black and white trick you. The Capitol Crawl was in 1990. This is not ancient history.
This was in 1990.
Also: these photos were not taken by anonymous people – They are all the work of Tom Olin, who has dedicated his career to documenting the Disability Rights movement.
Thank you for the credit and addition!
It’s important for people in the margins to name each other – not let ourselves become anonymized by those in power.
[Image Description: A series of six photographs.
Image 1: A grey-scale photograph of a crowd of protestors marching down a road. The majority of the crowd are in wheelchairs. One person is carrying an American flag.
Image 2: A poster depicting a disabled symbol on a dime. There is text above and below the image that says, “You Gave Us Your Dimes / Now We Want Our Rights.”
Image 3: A photograph of two protestors. The two protestors are children in large wheelchairs. The first kid is a young, light-skinned boy. He is wearing a coat and looking off camera. He is sitting in a full wheelchair. Behind the boy is a sign that says, “I’m in Mainstream School.” The second kid is a young, tan girl. She is wearing a coat and looking off camera with her arms raised. Behind her is a sign that says, “Why am I not in Mainstream School?”
Image 4: A photograph of a low shot of the stairs to the Capitol building. There are two people crawling up the steps.
Image 5: A photograph of a light-skinned person in a wheelchair. They are raising their fist as they march down the road with the other protestors. They are holding a sign that says, “The Largest Minority.” Behind them are signs that say, “Change Not Charity.”
Image 6: A group photograph of a high shot of the crowd of marchers. Most of the crowd is in wheelchairs. They are all looking up at the camera. Some have their fists raised. Some people are kneeling. They are holding up a sign. The text is out of focus, but a disabled symbol is visible. /End ID]
Here’s some more photos in color!!! B&W images are used to separate us from history and create a disconnect. This was 30 years ago–there were plenty of in-color cameras available, yet these were some of the only easy pictures to find.
b&w is not used to separate anything, BUT “do you know how expensive colour film was” is ALSO not an argument.
the reason for these photos being b&w is not sinister or deliberate, at least not deliberate in the way you think
print journalism, such as newspapers and weeklies, was not taken seriously if you used colour film. it was seen as the stuff of amateur home photos, of children’s birthdays and trips abroad. of portraits taken too high up and a bit further away than you’d like of relatives who died a week after it was taken. (that last bit is paraphrased from a book i read on the topic)
the only exception was national geographic and magazines but often those were seen as much more casual fare - the type of thing you bought at a checkout to flip through as your hair dried or as you smoked your pipe tobacco and relaxed. nat geo was serious, at times, but often it used colour to grab attention more than illustrate a mental image. colour is fine, but not “journalistic.”
black and white was seen as Serious and Important. colour was not! using good film stock and calling in journalists and asking favours of photographers with big newspapers is how they got the story published at all.
don’t see malice where there is none. there was real, tangible pain and desperation to be heard. and black and white did that impactfully for the time and we still have these images circulating now, which says something about how well that worked.
While Apple Sauce seems to have people’s attention
