A Quick Timeline Refresher
Since weâre once again discussing schedules and filming timelines, how about we go back a little?
Letâs revisit those almost 30 days between the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024.
đ December 2023 â Glasgow
Starting on 12/17, Sam was very clearly geolocated in Glasgow.
And yes, he was busy. Extremely busy, in fact - almost as if every possible activity had been compressed into a very short period of time.
Book signing at Waterstones.
Visit to the Social Bite donation point, with a small promo for the cause.
Filmed a special with Josh and a drinks promo, both in his living room at Cawdermill.
Family was there for Christmas, his uncle posted a photo from Cawdermill on 12/26.
Shortly after, there was that small âsnowman situationâ at the Glasgow house, the one with the tiny handprints. The video was posted on 12/30, the same day Marina Campbell showed on her stories that she was in Scotland.
Also on 12/30, a fan posted a photo with Sam at Glasgow airport. The general understanding? That he had gone to pick up his good friend Marina.
We didnât get ânewsâ of Sam again until the first week of 2024 - when he was very clearly in London, with no visible commitments.
According to the Only Cs, all of this happened very far away from Cait, who was supposedly in London filming The Amateur.
Is there any visual proof of that? Of course not. Weâre simply expected to take the TAITsâ word for it.
On 01/03, the IMDb page for The Amateur was updated to include Helen Jane Simmons as Caitâs dialect coach.
Davie posted a photo with Sam in his kitchen at home on Wednesday, January 3, still in Scotland.
On 01/04, Sam was seen on a London ferry heading toward Greenwich, where we know his friend Matt lives.
Naturally, if Sam was in London, Cait could not possibly be there. Mordor and the TAITs worked overtime to prove that point.
Suddenly, a rumor circulated through the fandom: The Amateur was filming in Paris. Tumblr and X amplified it. It became very important that Cait was in Paris, not in London, where Sam had been seen.
There were detailed timelines. Watermarked photos. Day-by-day reconstructions.
The conclusion? Sam was wandering alone around London.

đ· January 6th â The Dinner
Then on 01/07, one of Mordorâs sopranos posted an anon claiming that Sam and Cait had been seen having dinner together in London on 01/06.
And just like that⊠the random London sightings stopped.
Interestingly, a few weeks ago both Cait and her good friend Karolina Wydra let it be known that they were together in Mexico on 01/03/2024. Itâs fair to assume they spent New Yearâs there.
Perhaps that was the return Sam was waiting for in London - since, according to Marple, 01/04 was the day he arrived and was seen alone in every documented sighting over the next two days.
(Mordor carried out a detailed investigation - reaching out via DMs, contacting secondary sources, and mapping out the circumstances of a reported sighting where Sam was seen twice in two days, as mentioned in the tweet.)
đ„ Mid-January â Work Resumes
Almost a week later, on 01/12, the first reports surfaced that Rami Malek was in Marseille.
On that exact same day, Sam reappeared - back on his living room sofa - doing that live surrounded by plush toys.
As for Caitâs whereabouts, James Hawes posted BTS photos from a Marseille set - weâll come back to that setting in a moment.
Also on 01/12, Sam followed ESN supplements on Instagram, the first breadcrumb for the next storyline.
Time to officially start the work year.
On Sunday 01/14, another random Sam sighting surfaced: he was on a flight from Glasgow to Las Palmas, Gran Canaria.
DĂĄrya & OdĂ©liaâs catering posted photos and videos from a cast and crew dinner for The Amateur on 01/13, at Marseille Modular. Cait can be seen in the background of one of the videos.
In the days that followed, the fandom tracked Sarah Holdenâs stories from Gran Canaria. She had just appeared prominently in ESN media on 01/12, and of course all eyes shifted in that direction.
And that concludes our brief revisit of that period.
đŹ One Final Observation About The Amateur
Weâve all seen the film.
Caitâs scenes consist of:
The street meeting with Malekâs character.
A few shots in the hacker corner.
And most of her scenes inside the cabin shown by James Hawes.
Did she film all of that during the week between 01/08 and 01/13?
Or perhaps the week after?
We donât know. We donât have the filming schedule.
But what we do know is that it certainly wasnât Paris during the first week of the year, no matter how insistently that narrative was pushed.
