Jacqueline Fernandez chooses Sajid Nadiadwala’s ‘Kick’ over the Temptations tour!

Having been in a dilemma since long now, Sri Lankan beauty and actress Jacqueline Fernandez finally takes a decision and it is obviously in the favour of her upcoming film. The actress will be seen playing the lead role in her next opposite actor Salman Khan. It is a remake of the Telugu film Kick with the same name. Film producer Sajid Nadiadwala steps into the shoes of a director for the first time with Kick along with producing the venture under his own banner Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. Other actors like Randeep Hooda, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Archana Puran Singh, and Mithun Chakraborty will also be seen in important roles in the movie, which is a complete masala entertainer. Jacqueline had actually given away the same dates to Sajid’s Kick as well as her other project the Temptations tour by the Morani Brothers. Having almost completed shooting for Kick, Jacqueline chose the film over the tour. 

After a successful Australia Temptations tour last year, its Malaysia leg had got cancelled. However, the concert was supposed to take place on the 15th of this month. Sajid Nadiadwala’s Kick also has its next shoot scheduled from 11th– 17th February, which will take place at Film City in Mumbai. This was the reason that Jacqueline Fernandez found herself stranded amidst her commitments. Nevertheless, the Morani Brothers seem to be fine with the actress continuing to shoot for Kick instead of taking up the tour. Confirming Bipasha Basu as a replacement for Jacqueline, Mohammad Morani said, “Jacqueline had allotted her dates to us but we are letting her shoot for Kick. Meanwhile, Bipasha Basu is joining us for the tour. The final line-up includes Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Rani Mukherji, Bipasha Basu, Honey Singh, Arijit Singh and Meiyang Chang.

Sajid Nadiadwala, who will release Kick on 25th July said, “Jacqueline will be shooting with us on the said day because we are shooting at a stretch now. We plan to wrap up in May.”

Kareena Kapoor was never shortlisted for Sajid Nadiadwala’s Highway

Imtiaz Ali who has worked with Kareena Kapoor in Jab We Met in 2007, was in a way responsible for the boost that Kareena’s career got ever since. The audience has been waiting since for the two to come together and make an amazing movie. But it hasn’t happened yet. There were speculations that Imtiaz would consider her for the role of Veera in his film Highway, which is being presented worldwide by Sajid Nadiadwala

under his banner Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment Pvt Ltd in association with UTV Motion Pictures. However, Imtiaz cleared the air in a recent interview.

Imtiaz Ali, the director of Highway, said "Honestly, Kareena is my favorite as an actress. However we never had a conversation about HIGHWAY. The fact is I can go to her only if I can do justice to her stature. Only if I have the best for her, can I approach her. Otherwise what's the point? If I give her anything which just doesn't surpass what she did in JAB WE MET, it would be disrespectful to Kareena and her talent. I can't afford to do that, it is unfair.” He also said that Alia Bhatt, who plays the female lead in the film, was his first, and according to him the best suited, choice for Veera. He loves what Alia is pulled off and is sure the audience is going to appreciate her talent and start taking her seriously as an actor. He also said that the chemistry between the two actors in this Sajid Nadiadwala movie will be interesting to watch. The male lead is played by Randeep Hooda. Imtiaz also said that the movie has turned out exactly like he had wanted it to.

Imtiaz Ali is very excited about this particular film as the story is very close to his heart. He has also produced the film. Also, this is the first time he is working in association with producer Sajid Nadiadwala and is so happy with the union that he is even working with the banner again in his next film, Window Seat with Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone. Will Sajid Nadiadwala be able to celebrate Diwali this year?

Diwali, the festival of lights is nearing, which is celebrated with much joy and pomp in India. Irrespective of rich or poor; caste or religion; as well as young or old, everyone participates in the celebrations. Not only the common man, but also the popular personalities of Bollywood celebrate Diwali with all the enthusiasm. One such famous film producer of Indian cinema Sajid Nadiadwala never refrains from being present for most of the grand Diwali parties in tinsel town. He has and will always be a part of the festivity. However, with an injured back and six films ready to release back to back next year, will he be able to celebrate Diwali this year?

Well, Sajid Nadiadwala himself will be a better person to ask this question to. Nothing is clear yet, whether Sajid will be a part of this festival season or no. While, he is struggling to complete the shoot for his directorial debut Kick and also work on the post production of various other movies, it does not seem that he will get the time. The producer is very busy these days with handling the making of six big films under his banner. Filming for Daniyal Khan, which is being directed by Kabir Khan with stars Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif is also in process. For this, Sajid needs to leave for Beirut soon after he has finished shooting for Kick. Amongst all this is his severely hurt back that requires him to rest. Also, his movie with Imtiaz Ali named Highway is to release on the 21st of February. The release of 2 States in April and Heropanti in May will follow this.

No more police security for film producer Sajid Nadiadwala and his sons!

More money, power, and fame, more is the threat to life of such people. Amongst many such high class residents as well as celebrities living in Mumbai, one is the very talented and popular film maker of Bollywood Sajid Nadiadwala. His popularity and financial strength has put him in danger several times now. The man and his sons have been at a risk of getting kidnapped and threatened by strangers in the last five years. This was the reason that Sajid had to file a complaint with the police and request security for himself and his family in the recent times. He was given special police protection by the Protection and Security branch of city police after two goons made a forced entry into his Andheri office in April 2010 and left a telephone number. Supposedly, that number had links with gangster Ejaz Lakdawala. The gangster had demanded protection money for Sajid’s movie Housefull, which was to be released that time.

                       Later, in June 2013, Sajid Nadiadwala’s sons Subhan and Sufyan were provided a personal police constable each, after someone tried to kidnap them from their school. A stranger headed to their school and asked the security guards to hand over the kids to him. He claimed of being sent by Wardha Nadiadwala to pick up the kids. After the guards refused to trust him and asked him to have a telephonic conversation with Sajid or Wardha about the same, he slyly left the place. This made the film producer tighten the security around himself and his kids. However, now after five years the police security has been withdrawn. Talking about it senior inspector Arun Bhagat from Juhu police station said, “The case is still unsolved as no clue about any person trying to kidnap Nadiadwala’s sons could be found.” Adding to this Madhukar Pandey, Additional commissioner of police (P&S) said, “At present Nadiadwala and his sons do not face any threat. So we decided to withdraw their cop cover.”

Shooting for the next schedule of Sajid Nadiadwala’s ‘Kick’ starts on, 11 February!

Kick, a film, which is a remake of the Telugu movie with the same name, has by now had several shooting schedules. Some have been successful, while others were cancelled or wrapped up too soon. After shooting a part of this film in Glasgow, London, producer Sajid Nadiadwala, who has turned director with Kick, brought back the crew to India. He has shot several schedules of Kick at the ND Studios in Karjat as well as Mehboob Studios respectively. In fact, Kick wrapped up shooting at Mehboob Studios on 9th February along with the lead actors Salman Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez. Other actors that are a part of the main cast of this film are Randeep Hooda, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Archana Puran Singh, and Mithun Chakraborty. While Salman has taken the salt and pepper French beard route in Kick, Archana and Mithun play his funny parents.

The story of Sajid Nadiadwala’s directorial debut Kick revolves around a conman, who robs corrupt officials and politicians for his kick and a cop assigned to nab him. Sajid is also producing the venture under his banner Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. He has also joined hands with Disney’s UTV Motion Pictures to distribute the movie worldwide, which releases on 25th July this year. The date is very special for the two best friends Sajid and Salman as the holy festival of Eid falls on that day. Shooting for the next schedule of Kick starts today 11 February, at Film City in Mumbai. The shoot would go up to the 17th of this month, after which most of the film can be concluded as completed. There was not much time between these two schedules for the cast and crew of Kick to relax, especially when Sajid has more four films to work on this year, which also start releasing back to back from 21st February!

Why Sajid Nadiadwala does not make any serious films?

Famous film producer Sajid Nadiadwala, who has made numerous Bollywood movies, is at the answering end today. From all the films he had made till date, the producer chose not to attempt a serious film ever. He has always made entertaining films. Talking about his connection with films, he said, “My grandfather used to own theatres in Malad, so we got used to watching films since I was a child. Malad was our base and we had more than 5,000 acres and streets named after him there. Even today, we own several buildings there.” This is how the producer links to his filmy family background. From a very small age, he has been a movie lover, which he justifies by saying, “Even if I reach home at one at night, I need to see some film. I see seven films a week.”

                                        Ask producer Sajid Nadiadwala why does he make only entertaining films and not the serious ones and he replies, “As I was a cine-goer myself, when I greenlight a film, I do it as an audience. I invest my own money as I am not a studio, so I make what I see, which is only entertaining films. I am not a serious guy, so I don't like serious kind of cinema.” So, this is the reason behind the producer’s cool film making. He has made some wonderful movies like Waqt Hamara Hai, Jeet, Judwaa, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Heyy Babyy, Kambakht Ishq, Jaan-e-man, Housefull, and Housefull 2 so far. Currently, he is also working on six new projects, out of which five are slated to release back to back this year. To name all the six, we have Highway, 2 States, Heropanti, Kick, Phantom, and Window Seat.

Almost all the celebrities and star personalities are health conscious. They love to eat healthy, maintain good weight, and look fit as well as fabulous. This is the reason that Sajid hired a bungalow in Karjat near the shoot location. He also put the bungalow under renovation for a comfortable stay. While renovating the bungalow, a gym, badminton court, table tennis room, as well as other amenities were reconstructed in the premises. This has turned to be very helpful to Salman as well as Jacqueline and they have been working out together since then. Talking about her experience of working out with the gym freak Salman, she said, “It has been so much fun working with Salman on Kick. He is a great gym-partner and really inspiring.”

Why did Sajid Nadiadwala and Kabir Khan prefer having a working title for their film Phantom?

Promotional reasons make the directors and producers do what not. As a part of publicity stunts in order to make their films noticeable to the audience, a lot of effort has to be put. Though, bad or good, both kinds of publicity is considered profitable in Bollywood. However, not wanting to create any controversies or news about his upcoming film, producer Sajid Nadiadwala plans to play it safe. He does not wish to reveal any important details about his action thriller so early, which Kabir Khan is directing. This is the reason that Sajid and Kabir preferred to have a working title for their film, which is being temporarily called as Phantom. The film maker wants to give this venture a controversial title, but not so soon that it poses problems in the project’s completion. Therefore, they will change the title at a later stage, probably just before the speculated release.

Confirming the news, a source said, “The makers don’t want the story line of the movie to be revealed right now which is why they have kept the working title, Phantom.” Also, Kabir Khan is refraining from announcing that Phantom is a film based on the 26/11 terror attacks of Mumbai. He strictly says, “The movie is definitely not based on 9/11.” Well, we will get to know that soon as the film moves towards its completion. Actors Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif are playing the lead roles in this Sajid Nadiadwala production and have been paired opposite each other for the first time. The makers also do not want to talk about the ‘title change’ and they have been repeatedly saying, “Sorry, no quotes on a story based on conjecture” in order to avoid spilling the beans. Nevertheless, the source adds, “Right now the title is Phantom and they are planning to change it once the film is complete or will probably announce it close to the release of the film!”

Was turning a director for Sajid Nadiadwala on the cards from a long time?

Very few would know that the now popular film producer of Bollywood Sajid Nadiadwala always wanted to become an actor, when he joined the film industry. However, being camera conscious did not work in the favor of the film maker. He then thought of becoming a director, but again due to some reasons, it could not be possible. He finally went on to become a producer, which was his family business. Being successfully settled in that field for more than two decades now, the producer did not try on something else other than producing films. 

However, now Sajid Nadiadwala has turned director for his upcoming movie ‘Kick’. The film is the remake of a telugu movie with the same name that released in 2009. Since then, the story has been there with Sajid, which has made him develop a special place for it in his heart. When, he met Salman Khan, who is playing the lead in Kick, for rendering the story to him and discussing other aspects of it, it all happened. By this we want to say that Sajid did not even think of turning director with Kick. He says, “I had gone to narrate the script to him when he said, ‘Why don’t you direct it?’ By the time I could say yes, or nod, or say give me a minute or second to think about it, he had hugged me and shouted across the room and told everyone that Grandson is turning director.”

One such launch event was the trailer release event at PVR cinemas on 16th December, 2013. The official trailer for the film Highway was launched at the event, where you could spot every important member of the movie’s cast and crew. The presenter Sajid Nadiadwala, who is presenting Highway worldwide along with its sole writer, director, and producer Imtiaz Ali, was also seen at the event. Actors Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda, which play leads in the film tagged along. Music director A.R. Rahman accompanied them too. The stage was set, where these five vital characters stood on that Monday evening to launch the theatrical trailer of Highway.

                  None of them wanted to take charge of the mic and they all had shied away from speaking something about the movie. Finally actress Alia Bhatt was called by director Imtiaz to do the talking. Prepared to speak, yet speechless Alia ended up saying, “It is a very special film for me; it has taught me a lot. But more than that, it has that one adventure, experience which I wanted to undertake that I never would, given that I started working at a very early age.” Co-actor Randeep refused to talk, while Sajid Nadiadwala stood there smiling. Everyone looked happy about the way Highway has been going. Musician Rahman added to the conversation saying, “I was busy with many projects when Imtiaz asked me if I could work on the music for Highway. I told him I didn't have the time but I could make time for it. We'd really enjoyed working on Rockstar and I knew this journey should continue with Highway.”

Sajid Nadiadwala faces some more delay for his directorial debut ‘Kick’!

Film maker Sajid Nadiadwala’s directorial debut Kick, which is a remake of the Telugu movie with the same name was supposed to be wrapped up by the end of December last year. However, the already much delayed flick faces some more delay as it has not yet been wrapped up. A few scenes still have to be shot for the film, which is slated to release on 25th July this year. Actors Salman Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Archana Puran Singh, and Mithun Chakraborty are playing the main cast of the film. Sajid is also producing Kick under his banner Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. The producer’s directorial debut had to wrap up its London schedule suddenly last year due to Salman’s visa issues.

                        Later the delay was due to creation of a set, which was a replica of Delhi in Karjat as Salman could not visit Delhi for the shoot due to his popularity. The actor’s security issues delayed the shooting of the film and Sajid Nadiadwala just could not help it. Even later, Salman Khan wanted to stay somewhere in Karjat as he did not want to travel to Karjat everyday for the shoot. For him, Sajid got a bungalow renovated, which was located near the studio. Now, again it is Salman, who has become a reason for delaying the completion of Kick, for which the producer cum director still cannot utter a word in anguish. Explaining about the current reason for delay of the shoot of Kick, a source said, “Salman has asked Sajid to wait as he is currently busy with the post production of brother Sohail Khan’s film Jai Ho and its upcoming release. Salman has no immediate dates to allot for Kick. The indefinite delay in the film has put director-producer Sajid in a quandary.”

Thus, Sajid Nadiadwala has no option left with him other than maintaining his patience and wait!

“Highway’s script has been with me for a long time. During a gap between two of my projects, Ranbir pushed me to make it because he knew how close the script is to me. He was like, ‘Sir, ban jayegi, aapko pata bhi nahi chalega.’ (Sir, it will be ready and you won’t even realise it),” says the very talented director of Bollywood Imtiaz Ali. With the official trailer of his upcoming movie Highway out and being appreciated by the audience, the director feels much relaxed. This road film is being presented worldwide by film producer Sajid Nadiadwala in association with UTV Motion Pictures. Actors Randeep Hooda and Alia Bhatt are playing the lead roles in this film, which has been made based on the experiences of the road journey through six north Indian states. Imtiaz has written, directed, as well as produced Highway.

                                  Talking about the reason Alia Bhatt struck him as the perfect one for this Sajid Nadiadwala presentation Highway, Imtiaz says, “Ranbir insisted that I should meet Alia once – not for any particular project but generally. And, since I trust his vision of cinema, I listened to him.  I remember seeing Alia for the first time as a small child. The second meeting happened when she had grown up and I was really impressed with her work in Student Of The Year (2012). For me, Alia has the right emotional quotient. Plus, like her character, she also comes from an affluent background. So, that factor also worked in her favor.” So, this is how Alia became the chosen one. Imtiaz Ali had also decided that he would go ahead with a newcomer and Alia suited the bill, while about the actor he said, “Since Randeep comes from the same milieu, I think he has a natural understanding of the setting.”

Could Alia Bhatt connect with her real self while playing ‘Veera’ in the Sajid Nadiadwala presentation ‘Highway’?

The young actress Alia Bhatt, who made her debut with the Karan Johar produced ‘Student Of The Year’ belongs to the popular Bhatt family of Bollywood. She started working at the age of 18 and being rich her character in the film was being compared to her real life. However, in reality the girl was never so spoilt for choice and has been brought up in a subtle manner. The star kid also never took advantage of her belonging to the Bhatt family. She did her part of hard work, bagged for her all the movies till date including the Imtiaz Ali produced Highway and the Karan Johar-Sajid Nadiadwala co-produced 2 States. The shooting for 2 States has already been wrapped up and Highway is ready to release on 21st February next year.

                        As compared to Student of the Year, Alia is playing a very different role in Highway, for which she had gone de-glam. Talking about her experience with working on the film, Alia said, “It was a different experience altogether.” She agrees that the role she played in her first film was just the opposite of ‘Veera’ the girl that she is playing in Highway. This road venture has been written, directed, as well as produced by Imtiaz Ali. Sajid Nadiadwala is presenting it worldwide in association with UTV Motion Pictures. Ask Alia about the diversity in these two roles and which one she can connect with in real life, she says, “Well what I played in SOTY was just a character and not the real me. This was something I always wanted to experience. I started working at the age of 18, so I have never explored new places with my college friends and have never had the fun of a road journey. So this is something very new for me.”

Alia Bhatt caught by the shutterbugs talking about the Sajid Nadiadwala-Karan Johar co-produced ‘2 States’

The shooting schedules for the upcoming venture 2 States, co-produced by film makers Sajid Nadiadwala and Karan Johar have been wrapped up. 2 States is the screen adaptation of a book with the same name written by author Chetan Bhagat. The story actually revolves around two people, one a North Indian guy Krish Malhotra and the other a girl Ananya Swaminath from South India, who fall in love with each other. They then try to convince their parents for their marriage. It is also Chetan’s real life love story, which debutant Abhishek Varman is directing without making any changes to the original script. Actors Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor are playing the lead role in this film. Alia was seen a little emotional during the last day of the shoot as she had become very close to everyone.

Earlier, during an interview, the shutterbugs had caught her saying, “I am fully into 2 states. We are shooting for it now and the third schedule has started. Like everybody knows that it is based on a Chetan Bhagat book, which is a beautiful book according to me. I have read it much before I even knew that it would be made into a film. So I am very excited about the film. I have got a chance to work with Arjun Kapoor and Abhishek Varman with 2 states and I think it has been a very exciting journey for me so far. Let us see how it turns out to be!” The actress had thus expressed her excitement and delight about being a part of this Sajid Nadiadwala and Karan Johar co-produced 2 States. On the last day of the shoot, she had also tweeted that she will miss coming to the sets and would surely cry over it.

2 States hits the big screen on 18th April next year!
