i will give you a piece of advice i should have taken before i played kcd2, which is: don't play kcd2.

play kcd1 first. THEN play kcd2. it's so much better omfg.

Seconding this answer. I was literally telling someone this today. There are two types of KCD2-first gamers.

One plays KCD2 and only KCD2. No idea what percentage this is.

The other group, a vocal group (possible majority), plays KCD2 first, loves it, then plays KCD1 and wishes they had played KCD1 first. Some people even kicking themselves for not playing 1 first.

If you play KCD1 and like it, you will almost certainly like 2 and vice versa. Is 1 a bit janky? Sure. That's what mods are for. But the gameplay is still completely solid and has aged very well. Unlike some other series where the earlier entries are so janky they're hostile to the player (cough Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 cough), there is no reason to start with 2 in KCD.

If you care about story at all, even if you are just mostly are interested in the idea of Hans romance, go play KCD1 first. Even if you've already started 2. Go back and play 1 first. Trust. The romance is also better if you play 1 first.

Oh! I noticed this too with Chamberlain Ulrich. Not the floating but the random NPC dialogue that was not in his voice. I assume it's some quirk with the NPC programming but they didn't think to exclude important Named NPCs.

But it was very funny walking into a conversation with Ulrich telling some random guy how he had the craziest and most awful shits.
