New Powerpuff Girls Re-boot Coming To Cartoon Network Later This Year

Craig McCracken’s Powerpuff Girls remains in the upper echelon of my personal favorite 90’s cartoons of all time. It was eventually rebooted in Japan in 2007 as Powerpuff Girls Z, which was also pretty rad in its own right.

This latest reboot will be directed by Dave Smith with Art Direction by Kevin Dart and will be in CG.

20 years ago if you had said that one man would be in charge of both the Star Trek and the Star Wars empires, you would have been called a fool, a lunatic.  Or worse.

If you had said that that one man would be the writer of middle of the road, by the numbers romantic comedies like Regarding Henry and Jim Belushi’s Taking Care of Business, you would have been called not just a lunatic but a dangerous radical. The authorities would have been summoned, and I would have led the lynch mob to bring you and your heretical ideas down. And yet, if you had said all those things, you would have been right! And you would have had the right to come and laugh in my face today, enjoying the fruits of your wisdom. How did he do it? How About a Wind Waker Demake?

I know that this would never happen, but I’d much rather have a Wind Waker demake instead of the recently announced HD upgrade. A reimagined Wind Waker with SNES-style sprites and scaling would be pretty cool. And navigating the ocean using Mode 7 would be amazing (think Final Fantasy VI’s airship gameplay). I wouldn’t say Nintendo are averse to taking risks, but they’d never do something like this. And they’d probably squash any homebrew that popped up. Oh well.
