For the third time in four years since graduating college I lost my job - restructuring the company and I am no longer needed. I had plans to stay, plans to save money, and plans to learn and grow at this job. My heart hurts but it aches a little less now, looking forward to #Evermore

the imagery that came very vividly to my mind was a picc line (IV) - the trauma of placement and the pain of it all. the scars of each picc stay on my arms like constellations - adding a new star with each hospital admission. pulling the piccs out feels like freedom, painful freedom.

my scars, my stars, my arms, my nerves, will never be the same. it still hurts under my scars where they pull me apart.

yesterday i walked for 8 miles. today I walked for 10. both days I listened to folklore start to finish the entire time. over and over and over.

Tonight I walked for hours. Along the beaches and through neighborhoods of the Cape, listening to folklore.

I looked up at the pink and purple skyline, saw the half moon, and listened intently to lyrics, for background vocals, guitar strings and piano keys.

I learned about these new characters we’ve been introduced to, heard their stories and wondered what brought them to this point.

I forgot about my own life, my own fears, and insecurities. I just walked, smelling the saltwater and marshes, listening to her voice.

I lost myself in time and space and words. I found myself in stories.
