Also, do not walk close to walls. It will be easier for someone so walk past you and push you against it or corner you.
If your gut is telling you to cross the street or change your path, do it. Don’t risk it. Your body knows.
If you can, buy a large umbrella and walk holding it. Studies say that predators are less likely to attempt an attack on someone that could fight back. Keys around your knuckles is fine but you’ll need to get very close to do damage. Umbrellas are more precise.
Avoid wearing headphones if you are alone on an empty street. Look aware.

Entering an uber alone? Call your father (or anyone you trust) and say “hey dad! Yep, I’m almost there, I’m sending you the route.” outloud. Then proceed to send them the route so they can follow the uber drive. This will most likely intimidate the predator.
If you see someone in an uncomfortable or possibly dangerous situation, walk up to them and say “Betty, oh my god, I haven’t seen you in so long!”. If she gets slightly confused, you can whisper and let her know you’re trying to help and that she should follow along. Walk together to another station or away from where you are. The man will most likely not follow. I have done this one 2 times and can be very helpful.
If you are unsure she needs help, you can pass her a note saying something like “hey, I noticed this man beside you is making you uncomfortable. If you’d like help, fake a sneeze right now and I will come up to you and pretend we are friends.” This is a long note, but its an example. Be discrete. If she follows along, proceed with the previous tip. This is helpful when you’re in a crowded train and you notice harassment.
Help your sisters. Trust them. Trust yourself. Be safe.

Also adding that there’s an app called Noonlight that’s a good safety tool to have as well. They have paid versions, but the basic free version allows you to set up emergency contacts that are called/texted along with 911 when you remove your hand from the button and don’t enter a unique PIN code that you set within so many seconds. It sends your location to the emergency dispatchers along with your name and any notes you want to add (like medical conditions EMTs may need to know about if you’re injured). There are other features too, but it’s a good tool to have if you have to walk alone.
Dear Fanfic Authors, PLEASE stop deleting your stories! The number of times I have browsed my AO3 bookmarks, just to find several stories marked as deleted, makes me sad thinking about it.
People love your story. Yes they do. Especially when so many have taken care to give it kudos and add it to their bookmarks. So while as an author I understand wanting to distance yourself from old writing, for whatever reason, please remember others love that story and will be sad to see it go. It could have meant a lot to them.
So instead of deleting, please consider pressing that ORPHAN button. That way the story is no longer associated with your AO3 account or username (the story will now say written by Orphan Account) but the people who cherish your story can still enjoy!

I am not demanding anything from authors. I’m an author myself with several fics posted. All I’m saying is to consider it. Repeat, I’m not MAKING you do anything.
I have a story with almost 500 likes and 200 bookmarks. Am I a fan of my writing from 6 years ago? Not exactly. Will I delete it? No, because I know it would make my readers sad.
You don’t have to orphan it if you don’t want to.
So don’t come here on my post and call me freaking entitled for speaking my thoughts. I’ve orphaned several of my works already. However, I understand orphaning isn’t for everyone and respect each authors decision.

Twitter is going ballistic at the disgusting behaviour by the writer duo Daemi (a man and a woman). And rightly so.
These guys s*xually harrased Mile, Apo, Bible, and most disturbingly, Barcode, who was just 16 year old during filming (the authors forced him to give them "massages" in order to be a "good actor" 🤢)
The evidence keeps piling up, with multiple actors calling them out in different Ig lives / interviews. Yet BOC refuses to address the issues.
If you can, go and talk about this issue on soc med platforms. The safety of the actors as PEOPLE is so much more important than a season 2 or even world tours.
The KP novels are absolutely shit, with toxic tropes and a number of questionable scenes and I doubt anything the authors write in future are gonna be worth supporting 🙄 I say this as a fan who only watched the series, and I still stand by my statement. The authors apparently have copyright powers to approve every creative decision/dialog/story arc in the series that gets made, so the best case scenario would be to boycott them altogether and have the cast in a brand new project.

Usually I don't care about actors outside of the characters they play, I don't want to know about their personal lives, their likes, their dislikes or whatever drama they have going on. Like outside of their jobs my interest in their existence is pretty much "oh good for them or I'm sorry that happened" but from what little I know of Apo Nattawin I would literally fight anyone for him, I am so happy for him and I love that the show he is starring in is such a success.

Able bodied parents I'm begging you to teach your kids about disabled people. Not just because they could become disabled themselves one day but also because even if they don't, they have a very real chance of being rude to us if you don't teach them.
Yes, kids just say shit. They have no filter. That doesn't make it any less humiliating when your child sits near me on the bus and incessantly grills me on why I have a stick when I'm not old. Or laughs at us for things our disability causes. It doesn't take away the hurt when they bully a disabled classmate. For a large part these things could be avoided if you just taught your kids to respect us. It's really not that hard.

i've always wished to leave russia since i'm gay and my existence is illegal(and i've already been hurt physically for that and got scars to show), but now more than ever i am desperate to move away from here. it is now also illegal to speak the truth and your thoughts and opinions. it's illegal to not agree with the government.
i am afraid for my safety everyday, afraid that i'm going to be locked up and killed in jail just for the existing and daring to not accept what's going on around me at the moment. i'm afraid that the death penalty will come back and i will be one of the first to go simply because i like men. i'm afraid most for my relatives in ukraine, but even that fear is illegal.
i couldn't ever escape before since i grew up very poor and even now i survive on less than $100 a month most months. i've been trying to get a job for the last month but that has been unsuccessful. even now i'm in search of a job to cover a ticket to my freedom, but with the great fall of ruble i can't be sure that what i will be paid will ever be enough.
i'm begging for your help. please let me get out of this hell
