so….he does girl crush…..then does WMYB right after where there’s no flag for him to grab….so during the encore when the lights are off, he tracks one down somehow and when the lights go back up, there’s a flag sitting on the drum platform ready to go……then he brings back his OTRA “turn to the person next to you and embrace them” routine……only to then say “SPEAKING OF EMBRACING I HEARD THESE WERE REMOVED”….grabs the flag……….hangs it on his mic stand………..sign of the times……..bicth………. and that was the night harry styles basically said fuck that shit

Why do you think Harry always bring rainbow flag when he sing sott?? I wasn't really sure before but now I think that song is really about his (and Louis) closeting. What do you think?:)

In LA, he asked for flag when he sang WMYB.

SOTT is the song he has finished his set with, it’s his biggest hit so far and the signature song from HS1. If the media cover two songs, they’re going to be SOTT, and WMYB, the signature 1D song.

Harry has chosen to showcase the pride flag when it is going to be the most visible, at moments that are most recognizably associated with him. I think no one can ignore the very intentionality of the pride flag. It’s no accident when he showcases it by tying it to his mic stand 3 out of 3 concerts.

He chose to showcase it with his signature song at a venue that took away everyone’s pride flag (fans visibly documented it before the show, some being upset that their hope of representation would be dashed). Harry recognized this and he chose to highlight it.

Then he made a speech that leaves no doubt what his intentions are. “Embrace,” he said, raising the flag. “Embrace!” He stopped for emphasis while he tied the flag. Embrace your identity, he’s saying. Don’t let anyone take it away. Put it front and center where it belongs. Be proud.

SOTT is s song about persecution, about running away, about some people being able to soar above their suffering and others being left behind, who are being told to “stop your crying.” It’s about being chased by bullets and looking for a better day.

It can be applied to Harry and Louis’ situation, but it can also be applied to so many others who are being told that their identity is inferior, their position is wrong, who run from despots who use their power for persecution instead of leadership. We understand this message very well in the United States right now.

Just like the Pride Flag, the song doesn’t have to be about Harry and Louis to be enormously moving and inspiring. It’s Harry giving people support and hope, saying that he identifies and he loves.
