the issue is that the left is generally quite good at identifying the problem in systems but then expends so much emotional energy on how vile it is that when it comes time for solutions they have a childish tantrum and throw out stupid, simplistic, totalizing, magical thinking solutions because understanding the inner workings of the system in a way such that you could make a better one is way harder than noticing the flaws, and would make you put out really boring technocratic solutions that aren't good polemic.

it's like that atheist anti theist guy (who wore the ash ketchum hat and vest every day, just by the way) who took a couple religion courses with me the way jocks in highschool take home economics thinking it's an easy grade. Spent the whole time doing the charlie kirk face trying to do checkmate christians slam dunks and refused to engage with the subject matter. Which in fairness to that guy, is not too far removed from the mindset I had at the time.

It feels like many people turn to marxism as a way to not have to think about economics or politics or planning and instead just imagine that eventually we'll all just share all the stuff and a handful of important people will just pass down orders on what gets built where and who gets what but they'll be smart and have dictatorial control so instead of fucking around with permits and politics and whatever, we just build the big grain stores, we build the big railroads, the kitchen appliances have the price stamped in the metal.
