The are bitter things that can be bearable, & you can get rid of their taste by just having something sweet. But there are some kinds of bitterness that are so intense that there is nothing in the universe sweet enough to make it go away.

One of a black & white collection of oil paintings I'm currently working on.
Peace, is it a lie?
How could you define peace? Is it , as mentioned in some dictionaries, the absence of aggression, violence or hostility? Or does peace come from within, & by that I mean it's only the "each person's inner peace", & it's a term that can't be used but individually? When we hear the word "peace" we always translate it in our minds to other beautiful things like, nature, love, or white doves. But is there really such a thing? I tried to think about it alot & the only fact that my mind believed in during thinking is that before each person comes to life there lies the peace which he breaks with his first cry as a baby announcing his arrival to life, & then there is the peace again when the person dies & everone wishes him to "Rest in Peace" & between those two happenings lies the unpeacefulness interval. But can he really get some peace at any stage of this unpeacefulness interval, i think it's very doubtful!
Life won't be the same!
Every new day is different than the day that has passed. Every day passes, life is not the same as before. This is a fact that you have to accept. Cause if you don't, and you kept waiting for life to become like before, you gonna live your life chasing a shadow. A shadow you will never be able to catch, and that will lead you to a certain state of endless unsatisfaction & depression. So try to believe & accept today's given facts, & then try to get the best out of what you have today, not what you used to have yesterday.
Deadlines
Now I know why when they have definite time left for something to end, they call it "deadline". I no longer wonder why they chose the word "dead". Cause sometimes there's nothing uglier than a deadline. Not even death itself. They may be both equal in some cases!
Life is a ball game!
In some ways life is so much similar to a ball game. In a ball game you’re either a player or a referee. If you’re a player you will get messy, dusty, you will fall sometimes but you will stand up again, and continue playing, you will always be looking for a goal, and after all you get to enjoy the fun of it. But if you chose to become the referee, you will always be neat & tidy, but also you will always be the one who’s standing there doing nothing but watching, judging, and looking for everyone’s faults, and when the game is over you will realize that you missed all the fun. Don’t you think that all of this applies to life too!
When you're trying to motivate your kids to be good at something they do, don't tell them they have to be "the best" at it, tell them they have to be "one of the best" at it, this will take the pressure off their shoulders, they will feel less threatened & more enthusiastic to do it well, and if they didn't win the first place at anything they will not lose their self-confidence or feel like they're losers. & this will help them to try harder next time without pressures.
The "better than", & the "worse than".
I believe that there's no state that you can call "the best state" or "the worst state". No matter what state you're in. Whether it's a mental, physical, financial, social state.. Etc. It will always be better than something. And in the same time, worse than something else. It will always have those two sides. & it's you who will decide which side you're going to consider. And you have to be sure that the side you pick will affect your life & will make you see things in a whole different way than the side you didn't pick. And if we take an example from everyday life, There are some people who have chronic illnesses & are used to have daily medications to help them feel better. Some of those people think that their physical state is worse than those who doesn't have chronic illnesses. In this case the daily medications would look like a hideous thing. But on the contrary, there are others who are in the same state and think that their physical state is better than those who have the chronic illnesses they have & they don't have the financial ability to afford the daily medications. And in this case the daily medications would look like a blessing. & the Ironic part is that If we took a look at those people who can't afford to buy the daily medications. We'll see some of them who think that their state is worse than those who can afford the daily medications that help them feel better. & in this case money looks like the answer. But on the contrary, there are others like them who think that their state is better than those who do own fortunes & have illnesses that can't be treated with medications. And in this case money looks like a useless thing. And so on... So, in life, it's always gonna be better than & worse than in the same time, take your pick! Samar Massoud, 1st of March, 2015
And sometimes ironically, you end up looking like the bad person who wants to give everyone hard time, because you should have felt guilty when you thought that your feelings should be somehow considered when you don't have the legal right to think so!
What happened to words!
As we grow up, the definition of many words changes during the growing up process. Words start taking uglier definitions, uglier meanings. When we were young “laugh” meant laughing with each other, but when we grew up “laugh” started to mean laugh at each other. When we were young we loved to use “break”, it meant a break from studying, a break between school classes, when we grew up a little more “break” started to mean coffee breaks during work, & as we grew older & older, it took a whole new shape, it became break ups or break downs, or sometimes break the law. “War” was a game we played happily with each other when we were kids, but now as we got older, we realized that “war” has the ugliest meaning, it’s the word that’s ruining our world. Even the word “red”, red was once the colour of one of our toys, the colour of a new dress or a shirt that mom has bought us, or the crayon we use to colour our drawings with. But now “red” is the colour of the blood that’s being shed all around the world. As we’re ruining the world, we’re also ruining the meanings of the words that once upon a time used to make us happy!

We are all connected!
Have you ever thought about how much we are all connected? Have you ever thought that you may be a part of someone else's life in a circuitous way? You're standing there waiting to get some cash out of the atm machine so you can go buy that new accounting software you've been waiting for its release, it's gonna help you alot with your work. You see this man who's standing there in front of you in the line for the ATM trying to withdraw some cash, he needs this money to go buy some stuff for his son's project at school. His son needs to make this project in order to get higher grades cause he didn't do well in the exams. In the exam there were those couple of questions that he couldn't answer cause he didn't inderstand this lesson. This lesson that his teacher hadn't explained enough cause at that day she was in a very bad mood & she was worried. Her mother was really sick because she had that heart problems & she couldn't deliver her to the hospital in time so she got worse. Cause when she was driving her to the hospital, this car in front of her had just ran out of gas & the driver took some time to push his car to the side so they can pass. Remember when your car has ran out of gas & you tried your best to push it to the side of the road, cause in the car behind you there was an old lady who needs to go to the hospital fast, & you wished them good luck. This man withdrew the money, bought the stuff for his kid, & he hurried up back to his work. He's a software developper, he has updated a genius accounting software. & the software has just been released couple of days ago & he can't wait to see the feedback from the customers. Somehow, We are all connected!
Tiny little dreams
As everyone has at least a couple of big dreams in their life, they also have those tiny little dreams that don’t cost much yet worth alot. Tiny little dreams like getting a smile & a kiss in the morning every now & then. A little cheer on something good they did. A little thank you every now & then. Words like “We have everything as long as we have each other”. Someone to give them a little attention & care sometimes to really hear about what they think & what they like to do & appreciates it. A day that’s being replanned just for their sake. A surprise couple of minutes dance on their favourite music during a busy & a hard day. A late night hug after a hard day at work. Something simple & crazy that’s done just to make them smile. Those tiny little dreams can turn ordinary days to good & sometimes wonderful days, & can turn plain & boring relationships into great ones. It can help you survive life with its difficulties & go pursue those couple of big dreams you have. Never underestimate those tiny little dreams, cause maybe they’re tiny but they can give life its biggest meaning.
When someone you love dies, a piece of you dies with them. A piece that holds all your memories together, all of their thoughts & dreams that they shared with you. A piece that holds a good meal you shared together, a memorable night you shared staying up late talking & laughing, a good movie you watched together, a good song you used to hear, a miserable day that you went to them crying & with their support it turned into a good day, a trip that you went on together. A good cheer you gave to each other when it was needed, even a fight you had that was ended by making up. But in the end it only matters to you, cause for the rest of the world they're just a number, or a post to be shared on facebook & then next day they forget about it, move on & go live their everday lives. & you still here with that dead piece of you that nobody really cares to know any thing about!
Life is all about options & choices. You can't have it all. Along the way you are going to find yourself obliged to choose one of the options that faces you in different phases in your life. & you have to realize that by choosing one option you're invalidating the others. It won't be there anymore. So when you need to choose, make sure it's the right choice for you. Cause sometimes it's an irreversible process.
Short notes
When you're in a relationship, don't try too hard for that someone. Don't make too much effort to be with them, or to please them. Cause at some point you're going to feel exhausted, tired, & in pain. Even if that someone deserves the effort, you don't deserve the pain, the agony, & the weariness it causes. After all they're just humans with capabilities, & these capabilities have limits. That's why they will never be able to make it up for your effort, even if they tried their best.
??
Are we really allowed to wish? Is a wish considered to be a state of denial? Can you hope for something enough to make it come true? Am I asking too many questions? 😀
Anecdotes
She sat there. In her usual chair, in the same coffee shop. It was raining. She was sipping her tea that had turned cold as usual, taking a drag on her cigarette, & blowing the smoke in the air, mixed with the vapour that is coming out of her lips in that cold day. She started to look at this smokey ambience in front of her eyes, & she thought of how much this ambience resembles her life; so vague, so unpredictable, doesn't show whether it's still be raining after the smoke settles or the sun will be shining again.
