Meet my character from the au Poppy Playtime! Benjamin Humain!
The character's name is Benjamin Humain. At the time of the main plot of the game, he is 50 years old. He was born on September 20, 1955 (may change depending on the original plot of the game) in a small town in California, USA. Benjamin was an employee of Playtime Co., a scientist of the company. He worked as a deputy and partner of Harley Sawyer on his own initiative. Humain has a doctorate in medicine, but was hired as a child psychologist by Elliot Ludwig, and later as scientist in the company by Leith Pierre.
Benjamin was born into a dysfunctional family in a small city in California. He is his parents' only child. Starting from the age of 12, he has problems with them: they slowly but surely become alcoholics due to mass layoffs from many enterprises in connection with the bankruptcy of companies. Every evening, before going to bed, Benjamin's drunken father went to his son's room at exactly 9 o'clock to check whether he was sleeping or not. If it turned out that it was not, Benjamin was beaten with what came under his dad’s hands. Such a check was kinda a habit of their family. The boy found consolation in the fact that he was left alone in his dark room with his favorite toy Cat-Bee. A drunken mother always demanded excellent academic performance from her son, and his father always chased him to go for a drink and cigarettes at night in only pajamas and bruises. Due to the lack of money and the presence of carelessness of his parents, Benjamin had to sit for lessons in pitch darkness or in low light, which led to his vision deterioration. They weren't going to buy him glasses, because they were expensive at that time. Benjamin himself was a loner at school. He didn't have any friends, but he had a good academic performance. His mother was always unhappy with him, despite his success at school. When Ben got older, he realized the criticality of his situation and swore that he would get out of this bottom. The guy understood that under other circumstances he would get bogged down in this swamp just like his parents. One day, in secret from them, he applied for participation in the "Young Geniuses" program compiled by Elliot Ludwig himself, the founder of Playtime Co. Having successfully passed the qualifying tests, Benjamin became a participant. It was his first and at the same time a huge step towards a new life. During further participation, Ludwig, noticing the boy's successes, introduced him to the same successful guy about his age - Harley Sawyer. Harley was 16 years old, only a year older than Benjamin (in my au Harley is 51 years old at the time of the events in the game). At first, the relationship between the two of them was tense, but soon it grew into a strong friendship. When Sawyer rubbed into Humain's trust, Ben opened up and told everything about his life: from beatings in the family and loneliness to the intention to start life from scratch. Benjamin first saw how cold and indifferent was Harley to everything living and non-living, to him and to his surprise, to Elliot Ludwig as well. When their friendship had already begun, Ben found out that Harl had never cared for anyone in his life and did not intend to show it in the future. Sawyer ended up having a big impact on Humain's life, being a huge support and encouragement to him. At 16, Benjamin was taken to an orphanage after he called to the police in tears at night after being brutally beaten by his parents. He found two best friends there: Ron and Sigmund, but Ben had to part with them when he was taken into a family. Benjamin found himself in a large, but friendly, loving and strong family. His adoptive father was a scientist and worked in Austria at the Hadron Collider, and that’s why he didn't come home so often, and his adoptive mother was a kindergarten teacher. Benjamin had a brother and two sisters: Gabe, Lisa and Merry. Ben did not immediately get used to the family due to mistrust, but gradually he finally began to feel at home.
Benjamin, already in adulthood, shows himself to be a kinder and more compassionate person who decided to make discoveries for the benefit of humanity. Participation in the "Young Geniuses" became an impetus for him to start a new and more successful life. He himself dreamed of an ideal family with the happiest children in the world. Ben swore to himself that he would never raise his hand against them, not wanting to repeat his former family in this. He also thought about work: the boy wanted to be like his dad — a scientist, but he would like to be a kindergarten teacher, like his mom, he also wanted to be a kids’ psychologist. After graduating from the institute, Ben decided to start building relationships with women and at the same time get a doctorate, since he believed that he had never shown involvement in them because of his studies. During these 4 years, he did not achieve success on the love front, but received the long-awaited degree of Doctor of Medicine. By the age of 30, he followed in Harley's footsteps and began working at Playtime Co., but as a child psychologist at the Playcare, later he was made a scientist and Sawyer's deputy. Previously, working as a psychologist, he had his own group of children, where he was a teacher. He received this position thanks to his appeal to Elliott Ludwig through a letter of request. Because of his ruined childhood, Benjamin began to treat children with more love, affection, patience and gentleness. He did not want any of them to experience what he experienced.
