I am waking up after a terrible mass shooting in my hometown where 9 civilians are dead and 26 people were wounded. I’d like to be perfectly clear: if you do not support gun control, unfollow me. In fact, block me. In fact, delete your account. Within minutes of me, my community was ripped to shreds by bullets. Police shot the gunman within ONE MINUTE of him opening fire, meaning he killed 9 people and injured 26 more within 60 seconds. Dayton will recover because we are a strong community. But there should be nothing to recover from. This should never have happened.

Fuck your guns. I mean it. Fuck them. Fuck your hobby. Fuck your collection. Fuck your second amendment rights. My community is in shambles right now and it could have been prevented. Fuck your guns.

Have you ever gotten a notification from the local news that there was an active shooter near you? Have you ever felt that terror in your life? Have you ever checked the location of a shooting and seen it is in an area where your friends live? Have you ever been close enough that people saying “the gunman is loose”, even if it turned out to be untrue, could theoretically be right next door to you? Have you ever gotten calls from your grandmother at 3 am hysterically crying, asking if you’re okay and making sure you hadn’t ventured downtown that particular day or night? Have you ever been so choked with sadness and grief and anger and pure horror that you could not sleep until the sun was up? And once you were asleep the only pictures in your head were the videos your friends sent you of the shooting scene minutes after it happened? Have you ever woken up with puffy eyes because you were so scared to see that victims list, since it might hold the names of people you knew and loved?

I wasn’t involved in the shooting. I was 10 minutes away and stayed that far away. The point is, it didn’t even happen to ME to feel the effects of it. Gun violence affects so many people. I never, ever thought I would be in this situation. And I am considered lucky.

How lucky was I to watch the sunrise with tears in my eyes, hoping my community is able to come back from such a tragedy? Do you think it is lucky that I cried until I didn’t have tears anymore in the dead of night while my friends slept, unable to answer my calls? Do you think it’s lucky that my heart hurt for hours, and continues to hurt, for my hometown, the only place I’ve ever called home, the place I was born and raised? It isn’t lucky. It’s abominable.

Its fine if you are sad about not being invited to sessions, you are human but stay positive and happy for others. I am writing this as more secret sessions are going to come up and if you are not invited, just know that your day will come. You might have been a fan for more than 7 years and be like if its hasnt happened yet, it wont ever, thats not true, I saw some fans pics who have been here for years and years and just recently met her and if you are comparatively new and feel like there are already so many people to meet her, my chance wont ever come, thats not true either, not at all.
