Ahjan is a Buddhist monk, author and former spiritual teacher whose past teachings consistently focused on authentic Buddhist meditation practices, accessible mindfulness practices for Western practitioners, and engaging all facets of modern-day life into spiritual development. In his earlier teachings while with the Buddha Dojo, he taught people from all walks of life seeking mental clarity, stress relief, and successful relationships.
Ahjan (sometimes misspelled Ajahn or Ajhan) Samvara's past philanthropic efforts have included organizing and fundraising for Maiti Nepal / Friends of Maiti Nepal (fighting to end the human trafficking of women and children), fundraising for the Mahadeva Malai Temple in India, organizing and fundraising for the Arunachala Animal Center in India, helping to set up a memorial fund for the late Acharya Tshewang Khenpo, fundraising for Kiva, and collecting and delivering much needed medical supplies and medication to the non-profit Clinica Esperanza in Roatan, Honduras.
He now works as a peace activist and humanitarian, bringing his 20+ years of Buddhist training to help advance the United Nations Sustainable Development goals, as well as to advance specific initiatives like addressing the global mental health crisis and fostering a global alliance of interfaith spiritual leaders. Ajhan Samvara's mission is to support a more peaceful, just, and awakened world.
Had the privilege of meeting with several esteemed and accomplished luminaries across multiple spiritual traditions in an effort to share ancient wisdom that uplifts today’s world.
The backdrop for this meeting of minds and hearts was Mt. Koya - the sacred Buddhist mountain retreat in Wakayama Prefecture, Japan, founded in 816 CE by the monk & calligrapher, Kukai (Kobo Daishi).

Samvara Spiritual Teacher (b. Geoff Malone) established the Awakened Mind Buddhist Meditation Center, located in San Francisco, in 1999.
As of 2023, he has retired from teaching meditation and mindfulness to focus on global humanitarian work, sharing the Buddhist wisdom and compassion that he's cultivated throughout his career and personal life.
