A helpful little guide to my Sanders Sides Ghosts AU!

Thomas Sanders - Born 1998, currently alive. Inherited the mansion from a distant relative, only to fall down a flight of stairs and almost die, leaving him seeing ghosts.

Nico Flores - Born 1997, currently alive. Grew up in the house nextdoor, and is desperate to get his writing career off the ground so he can move out of his insane parents' house.

Remy Drema - 1996-2020, died from covid-related lung complications. A true-crime fanatic, particularly interested in the cases of Emile Picani and Logan Croft.

Virgil Storme - 1977-2003, refuses to speak about his death (an overdose). Partially because he stays up in the attic, trying not to draw anyone's attention.

Emile Picani - 1947-1978, mistaken for an intruder and shot. He was a couple's therapist and encourages Thomas to actually start doing therapy, also forces him to put on Cartoons.

Logan Croft - 1923-1955, murdered by his wife. He refuses to speak on the subject, and presents himself as calm and calculating almost always.

Patton Sanders - 1889-1919, died thanks to tuberculosis, is just happy to watch Thomas in adulthood, he never could watch his own kids grow up.

Remus Faaris - 1798-1826, died during an illegal gay orgy, loves to torment the newly acquired living who can see him.

Roman Faaris - 1798-1824, died in a fight with Remus, very vocally upset with having to share eternity with him.

Janus Calson Deceit - 1591-1616, tells a trillion different stories and half-truths about his death.

There will be a whole sitcom-esque fic about the ghosts and Thomas ala cbs ghosts, but for now I'll just say Logan married her out of convenience and societal expectations.

Yk, she was just also a stalker and that didn't turn out very well.

Is this inspired by the blog tssidesghostau? Sorry a lot of things here reminded me of that blog.

The AU itself was initially inspired by CBS ghosts, since I adore the show and watch it daily with my mom. Buuuut, after I started the AU, I remembered that old au blog I used to love and started taking some inspo from there.

I think the most egregious stealing I did was for Logan, but I'm hopeful to make sure it's my own story at the end of the day

Why do they call Janus Deciet? Do they know his name? Has he given too many people different names?

Along with everything else about him, he introduces himself a billion different ways. And as the oldest ghost any of them know, he has no one to out his real name! The others basically just assigned him Deceit in an attempt to annoy him into sharing his name

Do any of the others try to talk to Virgil while he’s hiding himself away?

Emile has tried to get him to open up a bit, but backs off when it's clear (in his mind) that Virgil's not ready! Remus loves making his afterlife a living hell, and Janus can and will just stand in the attic and stare at him. 🙂‍↕️

Janus Calson Deceit, 1591-1616, died being burned at the stake for accusations of witchcraft.

In life Deceit was a divisive man, charming and full of secrets in his pocket. Still, his history of travel and secrets did him no favors when fingers started flying.

He did try to flee the town, when he saw what was happening he wanted no part in it.

Until he saw the power he could gain from a few people dying, and well, he was what some would call power hungry, but what he called *ambitious*.

In death he's still a mystery to the other ghosts, not even Roman can place him properly.

But maybe the ability to talk to a living again could bring his past to light, and unravel his web of lies.

Roman Faaris, 1798-1824, died in a tense feud-based duel with his twin brother. He was dead before Remus could get him medical help.

In life, Roman was the well-loved prince of a far-off land, though not as well-loved as his older brother Romulus. He always felt unappreciated and in the shadows.

It's why he explored, why he travelled the world with his twin and then alone. To find his own purpose, to make his kingdom proud.

Of course he would be the one to die first of the brothers, to die on the soil of a foreign land.

In death, Roman mourns his kingdom, he mourns who he could have been, and most of all he mourns the fact that he's stuck on the accursed property while his twin can leave and roam the world!

He begs Thomas to tell his story in some way, shape, or form. To get his name out there again.

Remus Faaris, 1798-1826, died doing what he loved: sucking dick in the woods during an orgy.

In life, Remus wasn't quite the favorite of the royal twins. Though both were overshadowed by their elder brother.

He was chaotic, he caused trouble for the family and his castle. He was a foreign prince, emphasis on foreign, because him and Roman were never really home.

After he killed Roman, what little was still there of his psyche just... snapped. It wasn't any wonder he died two years later.

In death, Remus is a menace. He's a flight risk, popping in and out as he pleases. He wasn't used to being seen and heard by the livings he loved to torment, so this was a new kind of fun.

The downside, though, is he has to see his dear brother more and more.

Patton Sanders, 1889-1919, died due to a poorly treated tuberculosis case. No one knew he was ill until he fell dead.

In life, Patton was a loving man. He formed an orphanage and had a lovely set of twins of his own, though only one outlived him. He was known as the one person who stood on the moral side of things, even if it was outside the social norm.

Ironically enough, a lot of the kids he took in didn't want to be adopted, they wanted to stay with him. Still, he encouraged them to go out with families who could take care of them.

As a ghost, Patton's watched the hardships of Logan's life, and watched both Emile and Remy die. It's no wonder he's so paternal towards, well.. everyone. But especially his great-great-great grandson that's just moved in AND can talk to him!

Patton couldn't live to see his son into adulthood, at least now he can see Thomas.

Logan Croft, 1923-1955, was reported dead by his wife, covered in stab wounds and the signs of suffocation around his neck. It was found that she was the perpetrator, but ultimately chalked up to a marital spat and manic episode.

In life, Logan was a teacher-turned laywer and a heartless man. He was succeeded by his wife and son.

What's interesting also, about his life, is that there are reports of him attempting to call law enforcement on his wife as a teenager. Before they had been engaged, of course.

As a ghost, Logan presents just as coldly as he did in life. Presenting logic and reason first and foremost in any conversation. Unless you hit a nerve, of course.

Emile Picani, 1947-1978, was a kind stranger trying to comfort the panicked homeowner. Unfortunately, she was armed, and he was mistaken for an intruder. Shot dead on her porch, she only realized after he was dead that he was trying to help her.

In life, he was a couple's therapist- a not very respected profession, but he liked helping people in their lives and relationships. He was good at it, as his (mostly reluctant) patients would confirm. Though he did have what some would call a weird obsession with children's cartoons, relating them to life.

As a ghost, he loves to talk about those cartoons and help with anything he can. And, you know, he likes to ignore the gun wound and bullet buried in his chest.

Virgil Storme, 1977-2003, found dead at the edge of the property with an empty bottle of anxiety medication. Later revealed to be an overdose case, and confirmed to be a suicide.

In life he was a loner, always in his headphones, and those that knew him would say he never had many (or any) friends. There's no funeral on record.

As a ghost, Thomas didn't even know he was there for a while. He normally stays up in the attic, brooding with the headphones and ipod he died with. He's lucky he still likes the songs he had there.
