Hey so with all the new followers..... you can follow my main blog @exhumeyourgays if you want.........,,,
Lesbians have been disrupting gender norms, acting outside the gender binary, and identifying as gender non-conforming throughout history. If u have a problem with nonbinary lesbians or lesbians who use they/them pronouns u clearly have no concept of lesbian identity or history.
do you guys know what’s the Most Beautiful thing in the universe? . . . . wait for it . . . . . love between two girls
If artemisinin is borrowed from sapphic, is achillean too? Should I just use mlm? (This is genuine not sarcasm)
achillean is in the same spirit as sapphic, it’s a cute term for mlm - both point to relationships between people of the same gender and are based on known historical figures
meanwhile artemis is a goddess who is still revered by many nowadays, not to mention she is widely acknowledged as a lesbian and used to be revered by lesbians as such
so, no, achillean is fine. it was inspired by sapphic, but you’re not stealing anything - it’s the same concept, just for a different gender
artemisian? 1) doesnt make sense and doesnt work the way sapphic and achillean do 2) robs people of their goddess 3) yet again steals from lesbians
when will people realize that not every lesbian is a white blonde girl with super long hair who has a “nice” body with tattoos and resides in california
black lesbians exist (incl. dark skins) brown lesbians exist east asian lesbians exist indigenous lesbians exist islander lesbians exist latinx lesbians exist jewish lesbians exist muslim lesbians exist fat lesbians exist nb lesbians exist lesbians who aren’t able bodied exist trans lesbians exist mentally ill lesbians exist lesbians who don’t fit eurocentric beauty standards exist
and we’re not just here to be a token post on your blog. we exist and we’re real and we’re just as valid.
sometime during third grade one of the older girls spread a rumor that I was a lesbian. I didn’t know what the word meant but my teacher said I’d figure it out someday. I quickly realized that that the word lesbian means never been invited to sleepovers or birthday parties. it is the fear that you will try to touch another girl without her permission, just as boys do. to me the word lesbian is synonymous with a scared little girl with big eyes and an aching heart. she sits silently as all of her friends talk about boys, heart pounding terrified they’ll ask her which one she likes best. it is watching your first crush slow dance with her boyfriend at the eighth grade dance, wondering how many advil you need to swallow to never wake up again. it is the burn in the chest as you remember your mother explaining “girls do not kiss other girls”. it is the fear of the locker room in freshman year p.e. it is pretending not to hear the pretty girl say, “I hope there aren’t any lesbians in here. that would be creepy”. it is the boy in english class saying he only watches lesbian porn but would never vote for gay marriage. it is hearing your best friend say “i love gay people!” but confessing to you she wouldn’t know how to react to a lesbian, since lesbians probably think about her naked. but no one ever told me that lesbian means beauty and strength. the beauty of loving a girl for the first time, and the strength of all the other women loving women who came before you. it is being the person you are exactly as you were meant to be. it is flawless, and it is fearless.
a reflection on the word “lesbian” // c.m.h (via badplanets)
i hope everyone that wants to kiss a girl gets to kiss a girl this year
Young butch lesbians:
Your existence is not “misogynistic” or “regressive”
You are not “fulfilling a stereotype”
You aren’t “basically a man”
Your existence is beautiful and incredible
The world needs you
Lesbian isn’t a dirty word, and the more people “choose” not to say it makes it harder for lesbians to say they’re a lesbian out loud! let lesbians know there isn’t anything wrong with who they are
i fucking hate when people are like “gay people are just PEOPLE they don’t talk about it all the time” because it’s a part of this bigger attitude toward gay folks and relationships and i don’t have the mind to explain it rn but it has serious real life consequence that are extremely upsetting
young wlw? are wonderful! im talking 12-13 year olds who just figured it out, young kids crushing on girls at the playground, young teens who are told theyre too young to know who theyre romantically interested in, kids who have just explored the idea that they might be into girls, & all that…keep up the good work !
shoutout to flamboyant sassy gay men who wont take shit from ur homophobic ass and drag you to the moon and back, shoutout to unapologetic butch lesbians stomping you in the fucking ground if u come at them with ur lesbophobia, shoutout to shy feminine gay males who are scared to call someone out on their homophobia and are still too scared to wear dresses or makeup in public or hold their boyfriends hand, shoutout to insecure anxious lesbians who would rather shop in the boys section and wear doc martens than pumps and skirts but dont have the courage to do it yet and fear flirting with girls bc they would be labeled predatory, shoutout to all of you who are still teens especially, ily and your existence itself is powerful and something to be proud of.
