it's the way tanrak claims that "no one would see them" when he tries to have a moment with barth and yet there's a huge jesus idol right behind him. the way when even after they flee, the potraits and the prayer altar and the crosses don't stop, and yet everytime they're always found near something that would help the boys ahead in their journey: whether it be a light or the home or a warm hug of a trans woman with a story to tell. it's the way the narrative let's tanrak know that he can keep faith and still be himself, that he is loved and can still believe while being with barth at the same time. it's the way he never sinned in the first damn place.
