Polar Knights is the Sapporo Division representative (male) rap group. The team consists of the reporter Yoichi Shujo🧣, a street magician Iwao Masuda🪄, and their leader, an architect Yuki Kuraokami🏗

This division had given each others nicknames or roles that represent their persona from the Arthurian Legend as Yuki represents The King (as King Arthur), Iwao represents The Mage (as Merlin) and Yoichi represents The Pure Knight (as Sir Galahad)

Sapporo is a commercial, business centre and the fifth largest city of Japan. It is popular for Hokkaido’s beer/beer garden, skiing, and the annual Snow Festival featuring beautiful ice sculptures during winter season. Similar to Shinjuku city, it houses the red-light district of Susukino where there are various Ramen shops and Snow Festival have occurred

Timeline
Age 0
Born to the only child to Kenta and Mei Masuda in Sapporo, Hokkaido.
Kenta was putting up a good act of being a good father and in reality, he’s a terrible person for constantly abusing Mei at home while leaving Iwao enough to cry on the sideline.
Mei is the only one who raises him without the help from her husband.
Her brother, Fukuda Tadashi visits Masuda's home to see his nephew for the first time.
Fukuda occasionally visits the family, bringing toys for baby Iwao and playing with him. In truth, his visits are meant to check on Mei as he notices some bruises on her exposed skin—concerns that are always dismissed by Kento’s overly hospitable behavior, who claims she is simply clumsy.
Apparently, his visits gradually became rare until he stopped coming altogether for unknown reasons and Mei hasn’t contacted him.
Age 6
His father continuously abuses his wife a bunch of times from alcohol. He threw his unreasonable frustrations onto her with much hitting and burning her skin with a cigar as punishment for disobedience.
Mei is too weak-willed who is unable to stand up for herself. He witnesses his mother in pain so he shields her and voluntarily takes all the hitting from her.
Afterward, he was aided with bandages by his mother.
His life is hopeless and a total mess.
Age 10
Kenta selfishly spends a lot of money on gambling, especially buying a lot of booze without considering purchasing food, clothes, or even important necessities for home.
Because of that, Iwao had to secretly shoplift from a nearby supermarket for the first time. Determined to get necessities for himself and his mother to survive by themselves.
Since Kento wasted all of their savings and the necessities wasn’t enough, he went out to look for a way to get money.
He went out to pickpocket then gradually pickpocketing more people’s money/valuables and stealing as his daily routine.
Mei is slowly getting suspicious of her son coming home with things that are hard to get. Some of which were expensive and beyond his means, especially as a result of his strange habit of going out of home every day.
One day, she caught him red handed with another expensive valuables in him. Upset, she scolds him saying she didn’t want him to turn into a criminal while he defends himself that he’s been stealing for their sake.
The two argue for a while and both of them are stubborn to back down. Iwao and Mei hadn’t spoken to each other.
Age 11
Kento frequents the Susukino district and becomes a regular at a nightclub, where he meets a beautiful waitress. What starts as a casual acquaintance slowly turns into drinking together and growing closer.
Meanwhile, Iwao continues stealing and taking on shady jobs for adults in exchange for money.
He spends most of his time on the streets, refusing to go home, though he secretly leaves food and small gifts by his mother’s window—acts she stubbornly ignores.
One day, he stumbles upon a street crowd watching a performer known as “Egao”[1]. Curious but skeptical, Iwao mocks the magician’s tricks as fake. Instead of reacting, Egao takes an interest in him.
Egao challenges Iwao to attend their shows every night under one rule: he must never be impressed—unless he truly is, in which case he must admit the magic is real. Iwao agrees with little enthusiasm.
After a few weeks, Iwao stops stealing and focuses entirely on Egao’s challenge.
As he keeps watching the performances, his curiosity deepens. He secretly studies and attempts to replicate the tricks until he finally admits defeat.
Impressed, Egao offers to take him on as a temporary assistant by teaching him magic and splitting the earnings as a fair deal. Iwao accepts.
Iwao begins visiting Egao’s home daily, learning about their life and practicing with unfamiliar magic equipment to prepare for upcoming shows.
Their relationship slowly shifts from boss and assistant to an unexpected friendship.
When Iwao asks why they became a magician, Egao explains wanting to bring hope and smiles to anyone in a decaying world they lived in. Though Egao’s words inspire him.
For the first time, he feels genuine joy and hope to almost forget his harsh life. He eventually opens up about his struggles and strained relationship with his mother, seeking advice (excluding to mention about his dad).
Encouraged by Egao, he returns home and reconciles with Mei, both apologizing through tears and promising to support each other.
Finally, he stops stealing.
Age 13
Iwao and Mei are on better terms but on the other hand, Kento continues to abuse Mei and rarely comes home, often spending his time in the red-light district.
Kento continues visiting the nightclub again and his relationship with the waitress develops into playful flirting and intimacy, eventually becoming a secret affair.
Meanwhile at home, Iwao loves to show-off his magic tricks, after years of practice, to bring his mom a smile. She always loved his newfound talent and was very proud of it. He earns money by working as Egao’s assistant.
At the height of their success, Egao announces their final performance in Japan and reveals plans to leave for Europe.
Devastated, Iwao begs Egao to stay, fearing he will lose the hope and joy that kept him feeling alive from returning to his old, hopeless self.
Egao reassures him by giving him a worn lucky joker card as a keepsake and a symbol of courage, inspiring Iwao to become cheerful, strong, and protective of those he loves.
They made a promise to eachother that they will meet again, someday. When that day comes, Egao expects Iwao would become a magician someday, which Iwao embarrassingly doubts the idea that would happen.
They part ways as both looking forward to who they will become in the future.
He begins performing street magic on his own to earn money although his early shows attract little attention compared to Egao’s show.
Even so, he perseveres and continues moving forward.
Age 15
Mei got frail and then suddenly fell ill from a high fever. Iwao panicked and quickly rushed to a nearby drug store to buy medicine.
Seeing Mei’s condition, Kento was about to lose interest in her and didn't want to deal with taking care of her so he left the work to Iwao. Because of this, he had to quit his magic show gig and be the man in the house while trying to take care of his sick mom.
Kento suddenly returns home after 2 days and bluntly admits that he has been having a long-term affair with a waitress. He announces his decision to leave with his mistress, demands a divorce, and abandons Iwao and his wife.
Kento and Mei are officially divorced.
Mei slowly recovers from her high fever and begins being herself again.
With Kento out of the picture, that means only Mei has to pay the debts by herself but none of that matters as she only cares about how deeply grateful to Iwao’s help and determined to give him the good life he deserves.
Plans to send him to a school so he can study and make new friends at his age, now that Egao is no longer around and she fears he may grow lonely.
As a frail single mother who spent most of her life as a housewife, she struggles with independence and despite desperately searching for work, no one is willing to hire her.
Mei encounters a mysterious person in a black suit who claims to be recruiting on behalf of powerful “higher-ups.” They offer her a high paying, single-person job that is beneficial for their debts and her son’s needs but on the condition of strict secrecy—meaning she must leave Iwao behind and live at their facility, alone.
It was a tempting offer without questioning it but is very hesitant because she has to make a difficult choice for their own happiness and hates the idea of leaving her son.
Suddenly, unexpected happen that her brother, Fukuda, finally contacted her on the phone.
Mei made a difficult choice in sending her son to her brother’s care. Fukuda temporarily takes Iwao under his wing then brings him to a decent home where his uncle lives. While on the other hand, Mei meets up with the mysterious person and heads straight to the Chuokhu headquarters.
He had not seen his mother ever since.
Age 16
Finally gets the chance to attend high school with the help of his uncle.
Performs well in school and gradually makes friends with his classmates. For the first time in his life, he experiences what it feels like to live happily.
On his 16th birthday, Fukuda decides to give Iwao a present, remembering that he had never celebrated his birthday before due to his difficult upbringing. He takes him to a local pet shop so he can choose a pet of his own.
While there, Iwao notices two rabbits—one pink and one blue—inside their cages. He is initially captivated by their unusual fur colors, but quickly falls in love with how adorable they are. He decides to adopt them and names them C.C. and B.B.
He grows deeply attached to the rabbits, doting on them and caring for them as if they were his own children.
Age 18
Graduates from high school smoothly.
Enrolls in university, choosing to study psychology.
Develops a strong fascination with understanding human behavior.
Few months passed, while wandering aimlessly through the city, he notices a mother and her son walking hand in hand, happily.
He watches them longingly, which reminds him that he hasn’t had any contact with his own mother for six years. Realizing he has been so focused on his own life that he begins to wonder how she has been all this time.
Attempts to contact her through calls and emails several times but receives no response. Growing increasingly worried, he decides to visit her in person.
When he arrives at his old home, he finds the apartment empty and covered in dust as if it has been abandoned for quite some time. Then, he discovers a note on the table that mentions the name Chuokhu.
Informs his uncle about the situation and together they begin investigating her disappearance.
Fukuda decides to become his accomplice and reveals that he is also a hacker. He admits he was too afraid to tell his sister the truth that he couldn’t rescue her years ago because he had been sentenced to four years in jail after being caught creating viruses for the group he once worked with. He now sees helping them as his atonement for not being there in both Mei and Iwao’s lives.
They gather clues and eventually hack into the database, leading them to suspect that she may have been involved with the government.
With no clear information about her whereabouts, Iwao suggests getting close to the POW members to gather intel. However, knowing the group deeply distrusts men, he realizes he must first earn their complete trust.
Volunteers to take on a mission working with them in order to uncover the truth.
Continuously learns about human behavior, negotiation, and deception from the university library then tests the techniques on his classmates.
Practices covert surveillance on campus.
Age 21
Gains basic hand-to-hand and evasion skills in a local Krav Maga gym.
Graduates from university and obtains his bachelor's degree.
Puts all his skills together in a mock mission with his uncle.
After months of training, Iwao deliberately exposes a fabricated criminal network he “discovered” using his skills, presenting himself as a talented yet morally ambiguous outsider with potential value to the government.
Chuokhu’s lower-level recruiters notice his profile during a routine scan of tech-savvy civilians. They send a decoy to approach him in person with a staged illegal offer as a test. In the end, Iwao politely refuses by demonstrating strong principles without being self-righteous.
Impressed by his intelligence and composure, they invite him to a discreet “aptitude assessment” disguised as a civil service examination.
Several days later, a Chuokhu handler offers him a probationary field role: monitoring a suspected foreign agent for two weeks.
Completes the mission flawlessly and is officially recruited as a spy.
He is later summoned by Otome Tohoten, along with Ichijiku Kadenokoji, to the main office under the pretense of a formal congratulations. It becomes his unexpected opportunity to meet two high-ranking figures in person—yet upon seeing them, he immediately feels a sense of distrust and dislike.
Meets Rei Amayado and later Ramuda Amemura. Although they are acquainted as co-workers, he rarely interacts with them and deliberately avoids getting involved in their affairs.
Carries out his duties accordingly while secretly continuing his search for information about his mother. Over time, he is summoned again by Otome, who assigns him a mission to oversee operations in Hokkaido.
Relocated and began residing in Sapporo, Hokkaido.
Alongside his covert work, he remembers and begins pursuing a personal ambition: becoming a street magician.
He performs magic shows across Japan, using them both as a genuine passion and as a practical cover for his movements and information-gathering.
Age 23
Meets Yuki Kuraokami while walking through Odori Park in Sapporo during his busy lunch break from overworking.
Notices a crowd gathering around a street magician who performs a trick that seemingly defies logic.
Despite his reluctance to get involved, he’s drawn to Iwao’s unusual performance and the way he engages the crowd.
Singles him out in the audience by attempting a card trick involving Yuki. He coldly points out what he believes is the “obvious” method of the trick only for Iwao to surprise him with a flawless reveal.
Intrigued by Iwao's skill, he stays to watch. Ultimately challenging him to reveal how he does his tricks.
Laughs it off and instead invites Yuki to grab coffee after his performance, sensing a hidden curiosity in him.
Over time, they develop an unusual friendship. Iwao appreciates Yuki’s blunt honesty and he gradually finds Iwao’s carefree, whimsical nature very refreshing.
Age 24 - Present
Yuki and Yoichi headed to Odori Park to seek help from Yuki’s longtime friend, Iwao Masuda, who had inside information.
The trio then decided to collaborate, brainstorming ideas on where the smuggling might have taken place. They planned to infiltrate the location and put an end to the operation. In the end, they successfully apprehended the smugglers. However, they discovered that the illegal microphones were a cover for real contraband—guns and explosives. Thanks to their seamless teamwork, Yuki began to trust in Iwao and Yoichi's abilities.
Forms the team and becomes a leader of Polar Knights.

Timeline
Age 0
Born to the eldest son of Alexander and Kimiko Kuraokami in London, England.
Both heads of the White and Kuraokami family (Alexander’s father and Kimiko’s father) have made an arranged marriage for Alexander and Kimiko.
They gradually get to know each other by discussing serious topics of politics and marketing, though neither develops romantic feelings for each other.
Alexander started drinking alcohol and eventually got drunk, which led to him accidentally impregnating Kimiko before they were married. Several months later, she gave birth to Yuki when she was 17.
Age 1
A year later, his father and mother were officially married.
Although Kimiko had to complete her high school and university studies, she stayed home in the Kuraokami household, raising Yuki independently, meanwhile, Alexander worked at his family’s company WHITE Corporation

His young brother, Morine Kuraokami was born.
By the time Kimiko turned 20, she was still raising both Yuki and Morine with the help of her maids and butlers.

His father was summoned to handle an urgent matter concerning establishing another branch of WHITE Corp. in other countries so he left the household without specifying when he would return. As a result, he has been away for a month.
Age 8
His mother hosted a tea party for her socialite friends, a group of women who spent much of their conversation bragging about their children’s achievements. Kimiko felt envious, almost as if she had been defeated by them. This drove her to become harshly strict by pushing him to excel relentlessly—whether in academics, sports, music, or any skill that could help him outshine other talented children his age.
She prevented him from going outside to play with other children or forming close friendships with anyone from a lower social class, allowing him only to interact with other privileged and spoiled children.
She also treats Morine with equal severity as Yuki, demanding that he also should strive to become an exemplary second son of the Kuraokami family. Whenever he and Morine managed to enjoy themselves, she would take away anything they loved to keep them from distractions, ensuring they stayed focused on becoming the family’s finest heirs.
Age 10
His younger sister, Ane Kuraokami was born.
Attends a highly prestigious all-boys public school in Berkshire.
Received excellent grades and has often been very diligent with his studies at school.
Found a sickly stray cub lying in the dark alley and brought it to his home to take care of it. Becoming fond of the cub for weeks and decides to name it Blanc as his pet.
Meets a classmate who surprisingly treats him kindly and doesn’t mind his cold demeanor. For the first time, he felt as if he had made a true friend and they became close.
His mother slowly notices Yuki slacking off in his studies and his perfect grades slipping slightly due to spending time with his friend. She uses her influence to unfairly “remove” the boy along with his family, out of Yuki’s life. Unknowingly, his friend hasn’t shown up at school ever.
Age 11
His mother was invited to an exclusive high-class gathering in Japan to discuss important matters, so she left the family home and traveled there.
She hired renowned tutors for Yuki and Morine's lessons, leaving her children in the care of her relatives.
At the gathering, she reconnected with several longtime colleagues from her father’s circle. The elite guests were engaged in lively conversations and one of them mentioned Otome Tohoten, who had recently announced the formation of the Party of Words and was also present at the event.
Initially, Kimiko wasn’t paying much attention to the new organization she had just heard about but suddenly, Otome approached her directly.
Otome had learned about Kimiko’s background and her marriage to a foreign husband who had significant access to international logistics with connections worldwide. Intrigued by Kimiko's situation, Otome had wanted to meet her in person.
They spoke for a while and Otome shared her experiences with men and the motivations behind her plans.
Inspired by Otome’s revolutionary vision, Kimiko decided to work with her cause, eventually becoming the head of Chuohku Foreign Affairs and a member of the Party of Words.
Age 13
His father returned home for a rare short-term vacation.
On his 13th birthday, his parents did something unexpected as they took the whole Kuraokami family to a nearby Renaissance fair that was held at that time. The fair was bustling with stalls, games, and people dressed in medieval costumes, creating a lively and colorful atmosphere.
Stumbled upon a storytelling tent where he first heard the tale of King Arthur and his loyal Knights of the Round Table.
Instantly captivated, he admired the character of King Arthur and was fascinated by the ideals of bravery and loyalty between comrades.
His interest quickly grew into an obsession when he read every book he could find on Arthurian legends and began collecting memorabilia.
Inspired by his hero, Yuki even adopted knightly phrases and gestures although he's aware of his mother’s strictness. He kept his interests hidden deep within to ensure that she never fully discovered them.
Age 14
His third younger brother, Avaron Kuraokami was born.
Age 17
His second and third younger twin sisters, Eri and Erity Kuraokami were born.
Applied to attend a Japanese high school as suggested by his mother to let him learn about her home country and its culture. Especially, she had plans for him to have a job there in the future.
His mother rents a vacation home in Japan so both of them will live together although she will stay only temporarily as she had to deal with political affairs in other countries, and Yuk will someday live by himself for his studies.
Him and his mother travel to Japan.
Starts high school.
The students in his class were awed by his appearance and how serious and dignified Yuki presented among them but at the same time, they started to feel intimidated as none of the students had difficulties in communicating with him and they started to distance him.
He meets a red-haired student who’s in the same class as him, Naoki Hamasaki although Yuki doesn’t make eye contact or even have a nice conversation with him. Instead, he gave Naoki the cold shoulder of having no interest in talking to him.
None of them had spoken to each other at first but he and Naoki were slowly getting to know each other then eventually, they finally became buddies.
He then also meets and befriends Jakurai Jinguji and Hitoya Amaguni (they’re two years apart so he considers them to be his upperclassmen).
He has done an excellent job in school.
Age 20
After graduating from high school last year, he and Naoki went their separate ways.
Starts working as an intern in an infrastructure company.
Eventually landed his first commission: a project to construct a museum in Okinawa.
Travels to Naha, Okinawa by private jet.
The construction work was demanding and after staying in Naha for a few weeks, he became exhausted. On his days off, he decided to explore the city and was captivated by the lively yet peaceful atmosphere. The warmth of Okinawa contrasted with the cold bustling environment of Sapporo.
One evening as the sun was setting, Yuki stopped to rest on the beach. Mesmerized by the stunning scenery, he encountered a curious 9-year-old boy who wondered why he had been standing on the beach for so long.
The boy befriended him and they began meeting regularly. Yuki was intrigued by the boy who wasn’t intimidated by him like many of his previous colleagues had been. Instead, the boy treated Yuki like an equal. Yuki was glad to have made a friend, especially since his albinism often caused others to distance themselves from him.
However, their meetings didn’t last long as Yuki completed the museum project and had to return to Sapporo for another assignment. Sadly, he never got the chance to say goodbye to the young boy.
Although they may never meet again, Yuki will always cherish the brief friendship they shared in Okinawa.
Age 21
Travels back to the UK temporarily.
When Torvald turns 17, he has had enough of the strict household rules that have tormented him mentally for years. He starts having a huge fight with his parents for pushing him to his breaking point of becoming as successful as Yuki and Morine, which he has often been compared to doing better.
Their parents aren’t happy with Torvald and he proclaims he will leave the family for good and never comes home so he runs away from home.
Torvald has never come home ever since.
Several months later, his parents assigned him to stay in Japan to work at his father’s company as the vice president of WHITE CO., which is headquartered there.
Age 22
His fourth youngest sister, Madoka Kuraokami was born.
Age 23
Travels to Sapporo, Hokkaido.

Iwao singles him out in the audience by attempting a card trick involving Yuki. He coldly points out what he believes is the “obvious” method of the trick only for Iwao to surprise him with a flawless reveal.
Intrigued by the magician's skill, he stays to watch. Ultimately challenging him to reveal how he does his tricks. Iwao laughs it off and instead, invites him to grab coffee after his performance, sensing a hidden curiosity in him.
Over time, they develop an unlikely friendship. Iwao appreciates Yuki’s blunt honesty and he gradually finds Iwao’s carefree, whimsical nature very refreshing.

His fourth youngest brother, Hikaru Kuraokami was born.
Age 30
Meets Yoichi Shujo by chance near his apartment building where Yoichi is cornered by a group of bullies.
Reluctantly intervenes by scaring off the bullies with his no-nonsense demeanor. He notices Yoichi’s bruises and withdrawn expression but brushes off any urge to get involved further.
Encounters Yoichi again but late at night, he is standing on a bridge alone and appears to be distressed. He initially walks away but feels a pang of pity so Yuki turns back to check on the young boy and prevents him from jumping.
Over time, he finds himself frequently crossing paths with Yoichi in moments of crisis, offering quiet but steady support. Yoichi gradually opens up to Yuki, growing to admire him and feeling valued for the first time.
Though he remains reserved, he becomes a protective figure in Yoichi’s life by helping him face his struggles.
Age 32 - Present
In a couple of years, he has juggled a hectic job in balancing his architectural commissions and his role as Vice President of WHITE Corp.
Appointed to meet up with his mother at the cafe where she gave him three Hypnosis Microphones, informing him that he had been selected to participate in the Division Rap Battle, based on her recommendation to Otome. As she left, she expressed high expectations for him to win her approval and was eager to see which team members he would choose.
He bumped into Yoichi Shujo who was distressed while searching for a scoop for the news headlines. Coincidentally, both overheard a rumor about the smuggling of illegal microphones in Sapporo.
He and Yoichi headed to Odori Park to seek help from Yuki’s longtime friend, Iwao Masuda, who had inside information.
The trio then decided to collaborate, brainstorming ideas on where the smuggling might have taken place. They planned to infiltrate the location and put an end to the operation. In the end, they successfully apprehended the smugglers. However, they discovered that the illegal microphones were a cover for real contraband—guns and explosives. Thanks to their seamless teamwork, Yuki began to trust in Iwao and Yoichi's abilities.
Forms the team and becomes a leader of Polar Knights.

It’s no surprise that with the formation of the Division Rap Battles by the Japanese Government (also known as Chuohku), many teams have been formed either through coercion or by their own volition, with those teams come many high profile people or very prolific celebrities both old and young. As such, a betting ring was formed, by who? Well, no one knows, it could be from criminals to politicians to random civilians to even other contestants in the very same tournament, all that matters is that every person in the Division Rap Battles has a bounty on their head, this is a list of how much they’re apparently worth.
“Looks like we’re Japan’s wanted criminals, folks~”
“I-Iwao-san, p-please, this isn’t something to laugh about. M-my name… it was on the d-deadpool list and I-I’ve never done anything wrong in my whole life! D-did I just get isekai’d into One Piece and become a w-wanted criminal? W-WHY DO I DESERVE THIS B-BAD LUCK?! I-I don’t want to be a bounty target!”
