Is the guy in the cuck chair supposed to stay quiet or is he allowed to clap and cheer
he's supposed to take notes and make an intrigued hum when an interesting plot point occurs
one is getting cucked by the bottom and the other is getting cucjed by the top. Subject matter experts discussing the sex like a sports panel
One cuck always lies, the other always tells the truth. You have one question to determine whoās a top and whoās a bottom.
The administration appears to be changing strategy to try to shut down gender-affirming care across the country.
Shouldn't this inbred white-trash be busy picking itself out a nice couch from Ikea that it can fuck while its dumb illiterate cunt of a wife diddles the family dog or something?
Crazy to think how accounts with big reach can literally change a persons life and itās just like bowing before a king kissing their ring begging for favors for them to grant or deny your request
These remind me of this drawing by Franz Kafka from the 1900s. We've been feeling this way for a long time.
prev, i'm sure you mean my guy Leonid Pasternak
People of tumblr, I believe in you. I trust you to make the right choice. I truly believe we can make this a reality. We have the power. We can achieve anything we put our minds to.
We CAN make Count Binface the next Tumblr sexyman.
Every day Iām on this site I miss when we could edit someone elseās post
Iām tired of seeing people filming the fucking bulldozers in big bend get an industrial bag of sugar and get the fuck to arms like what the hell
āI donāt want to be shotā so the shut the fuck up
āOh so you donāt careā logical fallacy
āNot everyone canā¦ā but YOU can. Youāre RIGHT THERE and also, refer to point one, if youāre not gonna, stop fucking whining and crying about it
At the end of the day if youāre not willing to put your life on the line to save whatās important you do not fucking care enough to be telling others who are in no position to do so. What can I, a person over a thousand miles away do? You are RIGHT THERE.
settings > wound > my wound > reopen
do not forget this
It can be true that your argument is a logical fallacy but your point is legitimate and demands consideration.
Sound on
i think it's insane that we live in a day and age where people consider it elitist to prefer candidates who are educated and experienced when it comes to public office
"i want a candidate who's flawed like me!" i don't. i want someone who's better than me to be able to declare war and decide the budget of the country????? i want someone with a master's degree in law or politics with 5+ years of experience on the city council and a legislative record. i want someone who can say, "i have done x y and z for my hometown and this is why i will be able to do it for the state."
and you know what? people say that it's classist, but the candidates who receive this defense are all rich! graham platner is a hobby farmer with a lawyer dad and a famous grandfather! donald trump's father was an ubersuccessful real estate developer (who let's not forget was found guilty of housing discrimination against black people).
I think, and I think this is what's actually classist, is that people see men like Trump and Platner as lower-class "coded" simply because they are classless. Donald Trump simply does not act like he was raised in high society, and that is because he just doesn't care about anything. He does not care if the wine pairs well with his dinner, or that well-done steak with ketchup is legitimately a crime, or that politicians should not curse in speeches, but he also does not care about saying please, or thank you, or whether a woman says no, or how many children die of illness or starvation when he cuts funding to SNAP, USAID, or FDA/HHS programs. It's not that he doesn't care about stupid rules or red tape, it's that he doesn't care about anything but himself.
buy her a bag of chips... and fuck her in it!!!
I learned about the murder of Kitty GenoveseĀ in two separate psychology classes, at two separate universities. It was studied as an example of the ābystander effectā, which is a phenomenon that occurs when witnesses do not offer help to a victim when there are other people present.
I was told by my professors that Kitty Genovese was a 28-year-old unmarried woman who was attacked, raped, and brutally murdered on her way home from her shift as manager of a bar. I was told that numerous people witnessed the attack and her cries for help but didnāt do anything because theyĀ āassumed someone else wouldā. Nobody intervened until it was too late.Ā
What I was not told was that Kitty Genovese was a lesbian who lived more or less openly with her partner in the Upper West SideĀ and managed a gay bar.Ā
Now⦠is it likely that people overheard Kittyās cries for help and ignored them because they thought someone else would deal with it? Or, perhaps, did they ignore her because they knew she was a lesbian and just didnāt care?
Maybe thatās not the case. Maybe it was just a random attack. Maybe her neighbours didnāt know she was gay, or didnāt care.
But itās a huge chunk of information to leave out about her in a supposedly scientific study of events, since her sexuality made her much more vulnerable to violent crimes than the average person. And itās a dishonour to her memory.
RIP Kitty Genovese. Society may only remember you for how you died, but I will remember you for who who were.
this was one of the first lessons I had in psych too and we were never told about this either nor was it in any of the reading materials
I never knew this.
I also never knew this about Kitty Genovese, but I do know that, in fact, many of the dozen (not thirty-eight) people who witnessed some part of the attack (which took place after 3AM, on a chilly night in March when most peopleās windows were closed) tried to help in some way.
One shouted out his window for the attacker to leave her alone, which did successfully scare the man off temporarily.
Another called the police but, seeing her still on her feet, said only that there had been a fight but the woman seemed to be okay.
And when Kitty Genovese was finally attacked in a vestibule where she couldnāt be seen from outside, Karl Ross, a neighbor, saw what was happening but was too frightened himself to go to her rescueāso he started calling other neighbors to ask what he should do. Eventually one of them told him to call the police, which he did, and the woman he called, Sophie Farrar, rushed out to help Kitty even though she didnāt know whether the attacker was gone.
Kitty Genovese died in the arms of a neighbor who tired to help and comfort her while they waited for the police and ambulance to arrive. Kitty was in fact still alive, although mortally wounded, when the ambulance reached the scene.
The man who saw the final stabbing? Who panicked and called other neighbors first instead of the police? The man who said, infamously, that he ādidnāt want to get involvedā because he was reluctant to turn to the police for help? He was thought to be gay himself. He was a friend of Kitty and Mary Annās. After being interviewed by the police he took a bottle of vodka to Mary Ann and sat with her, trying to comfort her.
So, no. I donāt think the evidence indicates that Kitty Genoveseās neighbors let her die because she was a lesbian, because Kitty Genoveseās neighbors tried to help.

(Also, going by the content of the murdererās confession, it was indeed a random attack.)
how on EARTH was thisĀ āscientificallyā studied but the details gotten so wrong and the wrong as hell conclusion published and taught in schools?!?!?! where were those scientists observation skills?! on vacation?!
How to take facts and turn them into an urban legend that gets taught in schools: Make a bad made-for-t.v.-movie about it, watch it, believe everything the movie says, annnnnnnd go!Ā Thatās how it gets taught as this supposed āscientific study.āĀ Someone got fucking lazy.
Spread the real deal, kids.
A book about this,Ā āNo One Helpedā: Kitty Genovese, New York City, and the Myth of Urban Apathy, won the Lambda Literary Award for LGBT Nonfiction this year! if anyone wants to check it out try your local library!
I want to add one crucial but telling detail: the story about the 38 witnesses didnāt come out of nowhere, it was handed to the New York Times City Editor by the Police Commissioner in order to distract said editor from asking unwelcome questions about a different case, and the story that was eventually written and which made headlines was almost entirely composed from police sources.Ā
At the time, the NYPD was coming under quite a bit of criticism about rising crime rates and the seeming ineffectiveness of the policeās response to the problem. In the Kitty Genovese case, even though people did in fact call the police, it took about an hour for them to show up and the first detectives didnāt arrive until three hours later (at which point they mostly spent their time interrogating Kittyās girlfriend about their relationship, because forĀ āsome reasonā they considered her to be the most likely suspect for the murder. In fact, the police wouldnāt catch the actual killer until six days later when he was picked up for having a stolen TV in the trunk of his car, at which point he admitted to having committed a total of three murders).Ā Itās not an accident that one of the things to come out of the Genovese case was the establishment of the 9-1-1 system, because at the time that the attack happened, you had to call the specific number of a particular police precinct and it was up to the duty sergeant on the desk to take action - which was usually to send someone out from the precinct to the address reported, because cops on foot patrol wouldnāt be outfitted with two-way radios for several years. Itās more than a little convenient that at a time when the NYPD is coming in for public scrutiny about its ability to do the basic job of responding to reports of crimes in a timely fashion, the Police Commissioner happens to hand the City Editor of the cityās most prominent newspaper a story which puts the blame for the slow responseĀ on the apathy and inaction of New Yorkers, neatly absolving the NYPD for its ridiculously poor performance in this case in particular and its response to the rise in crime in general.Ā
Itās also quite telling that the New York Times ran with the story the way they did. Itās not like there werenāt people on the scene who said they had called the police, or that the basic facts about how many witnesses there were and what they had seen didnāt match the account that the commissioner had given. The writer the Times sent out chose not to include this information becauseĀ āit would have ruined the story.ā The Times wanted to frame the story as a narrative about how the root of NYCās problems was urban apathy and anomie - and the news organizations that picked up on the Timesā reporting and made the Kitty Genovese case a national and global story wanted to frame the story as proof that NYC was a dangerous urban jungle that deserved its decline because of the bad character of its residents.Ā I think the takeaway from this case isnāt just about sloppy scientific research, itās that you have to always consider how official narratives are used to assign blame to specific individuals and groups and absolve larger institutions of responsibility.Ā
āI hate school Iām sorry Malalaā- Funny yet poignant. Acknowledges both the difficulty of the task and the fact that doing that task is a privilege. Gives credit to the people who fought for that privilege with a tongue in cheek acknowledgement of the irony of the initial statement
āIām just a girl I should be home baking bread not doing calculusā - at best historically uninformed at worst leaps decades back in time. Refusal to acknowledge the charged history of education and slights the centuries of womenās labor it took to reach this point
My doctors experience so far:
- went to rheumatologist who basically handed me a flyer and said no one treats you have a nice day
- went to doctor like can you please help me? Also I canāt breathe
- Doctor tells me itās anxiety but orders an xray that shows itās actually not fucking anxiety but actually a condition and tells me to go to specialist even though he could probably rx something to help in the mean time but he doesnāt
- Doctor does however rx another medication
- specialist is booking at earliest a month out
- I am being hounded by a venture capitalist mental health organization calling me multiple times every hour trying to get me to book
- Iām told to go to a different doctor
- theyāre booking in end of January
- I still canāt breathe
- 2 days go by with rx on hold no movement with it no notes no calls no nothing
- I call the pharmacy to ask wtf and they say they never ordered the medication because it has a $100 copay
- still canāt breathe and now medication wonāt be here until Monday at earliest
This country literally is trying to kill me - has consigned me to being worthless and devoid of income so will bleed me dry for every last fucking dollar Iām worth until it can grind me to dust extracting the last bit of monetary value from my corpse where the next crop of people will suffer. I fucking hate it and everyone who contributed to this state of affairs
Everything you hate about the United States is Thomas Jeffersonās fault.
