truly one of the most demoralising things about being in the job market atm is "only successful applicants will be notified" is practically a universal standard. so you spend hours, sometimes days filling out applications, writing CVs and cover letters only to be ghosted as the only form of communication. Not even a "thank you but this time you've been unsuccessful" email. You're in a constant state of "did I not get it or have they not contacted me?" and you just have to eventually conclude you were unsuccessful without so much as courtesy, "sorry, but thank you for your application." A literal thankless cycle for months and months and months. You'd think with all the ways to automate these processes they would at least have the time, means and decency to acknowledge your submission and let you off the hook, but no. You're just in limbo in every possible way in the name of "efficiency". Solidarity with everyone going through this because it is truly dehumanising and demoralising to work so hard on putting yourself forward constantly without acknowledgement or useful communication of any sort for long periods of time, and most ppl simply will not have any compassion for what that's like.

Innocent man spends 18 months in prison after Skyrim username mixup - Dexerto

An innocent man spent 18 months behind bars after police missed an underscore in a Skyrim username and identified the wrong person.

According to Ars Technica, investigators found no evidence connecting Klayme to the underage victim or the conversations at the center of the case. They also could not establish that he had used Kik during the period being investigated. Despite this, the Skyrim fan was arrested and later convicted on three charges tied to the child-luring case, including providing sexual material to a child and possession of CP. He received an 18-month jail sentence in 2024 and served the entire term.

Forgot to mention but it was good to see Brand New Day as a Cinematic Experience, the theater was packed, there were guys in cosplay, kids with Spider-Man facepaint and all sorts. (I personally wore my Spider-Man earrings.) There was even applause at the end which hardly ever happens in British theaters. So that was nice.

I have seen the new spiderman. It's not bad (bits of it reminded me of the Insomniac game, which I love) but not 90% RT good. And some of the Implications are a bit iffy but I think other people will be able to delve deeper into that than me.

I've gotten ahold of the screenplay book for 28 Years Later (it's actually really easy to buy) that showcases Alex Garland's first draft. Absolutely FASCINATING to me.

-slow-lows are called Slugs

-the baby isn't named, let alone named Isla

-Kelson is NAKED, presumably throughout the entire movie

-Jamie is explicitly told by Jenny that he cannot leave the island to search for his son

-The Bone Temple's structure is very different

-The beginning with young Jimmy is completely different, no Teletubbies, no room of terrified kids, no Jimmy's dad welcoming the infected, probably needs its own post

-The ending where Spike meets Jimmy is MUCH more sedate

-the scene where Samson attacks Kelson and Spike isn't in there

-Kelson mercy kills Isla by DECAPITATING HER WITH A MACHETE
