The Observer asked me to provide another editorial illustration last week. This time it was all about A Levels and debt. Students who are getting their results are also being initiated into a world of debt, which feels so wrong - as if being 18 wasn’t hard enough. Anyway, I came up with three ideas and they went with the 2nd one. Good luck to everyone with their exam results. Remember life is an adventure no matter what grades you get.

In this week’s Guardian Observer I illustrated an article that discussed women in science. We can work together for gender equality in the workplace! Let’s do it! Article Here.

Four images of tribal women. I’m fascinated by their body adornment, jewellery, scarification and beauty. These women are from African tribes but I’ll be adding to this series with tribal women from other parts of the world, too. I think these women are amazing and it’s been great to draw them.

Here is my Secret 7 piece. It was the first time I’d entered the competition and I was delighted to be featured in the auction and exhibition. I loved seeing all the other record sleeves and trying to get a few of the artists.

Three editorial illustrations I've done recently, for Roger Collective, B.There Magazine and Bulletin Magazine. Covering topics like global aphasia, a condition that affects speech and memory; a new fine dining Cuban chef working in Kigali, Rwanda; and some energetic and fun hand lettering to reveal ten unknown things about a member of Virgin staff.

Album Artwork for Devon Loch

I was asked to create a folded vinyl album design for my friend, the musician Devon Loch. 

From the outset, the themes of the album, named ‘Sleep Scale’, were about the cycles of sleep, of a journey, of stages, and also of racehorses and running tracks (Devon Loch is named after a racehorse).

I wanted to keep to two or three colours maximum - these turned out to be red, royal blue, and grey. The final design is below.

Before I got to the final image, I went through a few iterations. This was my initial rough sketch and layout of themes. 

I liked the way the running track, overlayed with the circular sleep diagram, looked a bit like an eye, so I developed that. 

We didn’t want to use pink in the end - so that was taken away, and the design was smoothed out a bit. 

Nearly there. But I wasn’t happy with the title section - it was too light, and didn’t have enough impact. I used New Wave graphics influences to get to my final design. 

Et voila.

Because it’s Spring, I wanted to draw some flowers!

I wanted to try to make an illustration that didn’t rely so heavily on a descriptive line, and used more planes of colour to suggest shape. So, here’s beach girl!

To make it an uneven three, I have added a third London print to my series. This time it’s all about classic Cafes. And where would London be without those?! It doesn’t bear thinking about.
