ADAD1002 Collective Event 2018
Come and Join us as we celebrate one of Australia’s young artists. An opportunity awaits to blindly bid on our artists latest works.
‘Mosabe’ presents the event of the year!
Week 11 excursion to the Art Gallery of New South Wales and Artspace.
DISCUSSION:
We usually understand ‘desire’ in terms of simple consumerist frameworks. However desire drives and inspires us; pushes us to deconstruct and obsess. Desire forms us as creative entities. The desire of ideas, concepts, materials, and methods can drive projects into unpredictable and profound territories.
ACTIVITY:
Look around at the exhibitions around AGNSW and Artspace, identify and discuss in your groups the way some works are driven by/explore, use and manipulate desire.
RESPONSE:
Throughout the course of the day, I was really moved by Korakrit Arunanondchai’s. In response to weeks topic, ‘Desire’, I saw links between the desire for infinite life and the Desire to see loved one’s again- who have been lost. The juxtaposition of life and death and the desire to communicate between two worlds also came through the work.
The work was moving for me as the older woman, (his grandmother) reminded me of of my great grandmother (my Oma). Our whole family was present at her death bed, and visions of her last few moments came back for me. The constant breathing pattern that rang through Arunanondchai’s work flooded my memories of those last few moments with my grandmother before she past.
After Molly and I completed our sound/ body portraits, the whole class played their sounds through amplifiers to create a ‘buzz’ of sound. The results was a room full of microphone feedback, muffled sounds and scratching sounds. The feels were ambient- experimental- static- interfered with.
contact mic portraits
A short film of our Body Portraits
Using the Zoom and headphones system, we recorded ‘bodies’ as sound using contact microphones. The result was sounds of skin, metal, wool, synthetic materials- all unique to the process.
In this film, Anna was able to hear the sounds of her own skin and clothing, and Molly and I observed her reaction to these strange sounds.
Sounds Waves Class Experiment
Building off our last experiment- we included the class in a ‘sound waves’ drawing experiment. This was a lot of fun! Molly and I created resistant and our class mates and Anna drew on the board creating ‘waves’.
The result was a board full of ‘data’, lines created by the board moving while the artist stood stagnant in one spot.
whiteboard mischief
GLITCH CLASS EXPERIMENT
Using the whiteboard and markers- we played around with interference. I attempted to rub out the whiteboard and write a sentence. Molly interfered with the process, causing a glitch in the process.
There was something really satisfying about watching someone run from left to right in the frames. There was a lot of laughter on our part. Truly a fun process and fun short film to make.

ADAD1002 | MAJOR ASSIGNMENT | PRESENTATION | DOCUMENTATION
It was really fun to explain my idea to my class mates this morning during my presentation. I got the opportunity to further explain my work and the research behind the concept. I also had the opportunity to answer any questions related to my work. I got some great feedback and ideas for further experimentation should the work continue.
Activate Charging Pod | Example of interactive installation
Steps:
1. Hold pod in hands
2. To activate kinetic/ cybernetic energy, throw to the floor with force
3. The eyes/ lights will flash and initiate charger. The micro beads will evenly distribute energy throughout the pod, warming the device and activating charge.
4. Place Zelda or Zion on charger
5. Wait for the lights to stop flashing
6. Toy is fully charged

Zelda and Zion, 2018.
The end is finally just a day away. After many weeks of research, I have decided to narrow my presentation down to one scenario. Although during the photoshoot I took hundreds of photos, I feel the above image truely captures the essence of what I have been trying to communicate.
For tomorrows exhibit, I plan to bring in my cyborg babies Zelda and Zion so that my class mates and teacher can see the items physically.
The setup will look similar to the image below (displayed with all the accessories).
ADAD1002 | ASSIGNMENT TWO | MAJOR PROJECT |
TOY COLLECTION | CATALOGUE LAYOUT | INDESIGN
EXPERIMENT EIGHTEEN
Using Popular Toy Catalogues for “Z” Magazine/ Store
‘Z’ Store is a made up shopping location to purchase these toy. I have names them Zelda and Zion. The letter ‘Z’ carries through from my previous assignment- commenting on the cyborg and human and non-human interactions.
ADAD1002 | ASSIGNMENT TWO | MAJOR PROJECT |
TOY COLLECTION | PHOTOSHOOT
“BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED- EACH SOLD SEPARATELY”
I had A LOT of fun playing around in the studio today- pretending I was getting ready for some sort of toy launch. I imagined that these were all the accessories that you could purchase for these ‘twin’ cyborg dolls.
