Hey all! I’ve been thinking about this for a while, but Johanna the Mad really seems to be going through a rough patch. I’d love to do something as a fandom to show her our love and support. If you remember, in 2023 she hosted a huge fence month which she drew a full and beautiful piece for each day and included a giveaway during. In 2024 we started planning a fence week but then she disappeared a bit. What I don’t want to do is use any of the ideas pitched there because it would feel sad to do that particular event without her, but what if we did an event or project sort of based around her contributions to the comic?

I’m thinking maybe prompts like:

Favorite character design / detail (ex: Seiji’s mole, Jesse’s upturned nose, Aiden’s hair, etc)

Favorite panel redraw

Favorite fashion/costume design

Steal her style for your own ocs/other fandoms (like trying to mimic aspects of her art style you love in your own art)

Draw her favs (As of like 2018, Bobby and Harvard were her favorite of the boys)

And anything else that fits the same vibe. Almost like a collection of fanart and kind comments on her work to cheer her up and show we appreciate her (I don’t know that fic is the right fit for this since authors/creators can’t/don’t usually read fanfics for various reasons, which I know makes it less likely for people to participate in).

editing to say I want to include prompts like "share what Fence means to you", "what's your favorite scene", and such that basically give specific ideas of things to 'comment' on so people who aren't up for a bunch of drawing can participate too!

I absolutely LOVED the idea of Nick getting a part-time job as a mall Santa, but also couldn't pass up on him cheering up Seiji on Christmas. Does Nick eventually hold Seiji's hand to warm them up? MAYBE. Does Seiji find out Nick was the Santa all along? MAYBE.

Every time I see scenes of little Nick and little Seiji, I wanna hug them and never let them go. Timid little Seiji, who never learn how to socialize properly. Abandoned little Nick, who's always been a spark of joy, but also had a huge shadow weighing on his heart.

So, in these moments, all I can think of is how they're able to help each other heal. I keep imagining teenager Nicholas hugging little Seiji and saying he is and always will be amazing. Teenager Seiji hugging little Nicholas and saying he's not alone; he's wanted too.

I love them.
