It takes a Watson to keep a Holmes right
Sherlock went several times to Sherrinford to see his sister. He was showing her the emotions she wanted to understand, he was showing her kindness so she could be prepared to see her parents again. And then, they got the concert for the family, and she could feel joy. Eventually, she was ready to be allowed to have a walk with Sherlock, so they went to London, to the 221B. She was really eager to see John Watson again, because she was told -and clearly proved by experimentation- that he was the one who keeped her brother right, functional.
She was just about to start playing her part on the new violin duet they composed when John entered the room with Rosie on his arms, the girl smiling and radiating sun like her father. She could see her brotherâs face cheering at the sight of his family.Â
- Oh, good afternoon Euros, I didnât know you were visiting us any time soon.- John welcomed her, while he passed Rosie to Sherlockâs arms this time.
The girl hugged Sherlock, while sayin âpapaâ to him.
- I was allowed to take a walk with my brother, so we decided to come here, I wanted to see you.
- Well then, I guess today is about the sisters. Come on Harry, say hi to Euros.Â
Harry was just getting through the door, she had to carry some bags since they were shopping. They were clearly related, same sand-blond hair, dark blue eyes, and very similar way to walk. She left the bags on the kitchen and taking her gloves out, came to literally say âhiâ.
- So youâre Sherlockâs crazy little sister. Iâm Johnâs older one, nice to meet you. Are you as virgin and gay as your brother? oh, I see, youâre not virgin.
- Guess not as gay as you, since my experience was merely and experiment... you in the other hand, have had sentimental involment with another woman for a long time.
- Of course I had. I was married, it didnât end well, couldnât stand my drinking habits. I like your curly dark hair, by the way, is it as soft as it look? can I touch? I wonder the same of Sherlockâs but I wouldnât touch his, Johnny would kill me.
Euros just could nod in agreement
Sherlock and John were looking the scene quite impressed by their sistersâ confrontation, they would say, the girls were clearly flirting without any shame. Rosie was quite happy holding the hands of her daddy and her papa together. They just couldnât make her stop calling Sherlock âpapaâ, they try to teach her to call him âuncle Sherlockâ, at least just âSherlockâ, but she was totally decided to call him what she wanted.
- I can help you getting over your past if you just kiss me right now.
- Euros, donât reprogram Harry to do something against her will. â Sherlock was alarmed.
- Oh darling, she can try but I donât kiss âtill the third date and only if she deserves it. â Harry wasnât even surprised by the request and the worries.
- Youâre quite resistant for an addict. Interesting.
- Youâre quite cute for a psycho.
- Arenât you afraid of me?
- You donât look very frightening.
- You could be surprisedâŚ
- I could surprise you too.
- Can I take her to my island?
- Oh, come on, stop flirting and help us with the dinner. Sherlock, I trust you to make Rosie sleep. Harry, to the kitchen, now. Euros, put the kettle in ten minutes.
Captain Watson gave the orders and everyone was on their spot, except Euros, who had ten minutes yet. She knew John was letting her get close to his daughter, and to see how Sherlock managed the child, so thatâs what she did. The girl was patting Sherlock on the nose with her little hand, in a weird caress. When she sat beside Sherlock, Rosie stopped doing that and looked right into her eyes. For a moment, Euros felt like she was being scanned by the still-baby Rosie and didnât know what to do, she had never feel something like that before. Suddenly, Rosie pointed her hand to Euros, trying to get closer, so Sherlock did it.
He stopped breathing when Rosie did what she did. John, who was watching too, got frozen in his spot. Rosie pulled Eurosâ hair strongly, they expected a bad reaction from Euros, because she didnât move for like 5 seconds.
They were even more surprised at Euros reaction.
A normal, sincere, and happy even, laugh. Rosie was laughing too.
It took about 10 minutes for Rosie to sleep, with a hand resting on Sherlock chest, and the other still holding Eurosâ hair. She noticed Rosie could sleep hearing Sherlockâs heartbeat, maybe she even recognized his smell, as she read on a book once. Thatâs why Rosie called Sherlock her âpapaâ, it was even at an instinctual level.
She went to put the kettle, but she didnât know where it was. John was concentrated on cooking so Harry was the one who helped her.
- Here, you have to put the water first, you can get it over there.
She did as she was told, then she putted the kettle on the kitchen. She didnât know what to do next.
- For Christ sake, havenât you ever boiled water?
- No. I thought it just⌠sort of happened.
Harry was teaching Euros while John went to help Sherlock putting Rosie to her cradle -which was a really delicate job- when Lestrade arrived with Hopkings. They saw Johnâs hand on Sherlockâs back nearly hugging him while they were getting up after letting Rosie âand it looked compromising because they didnât know the context-, and Hopkings spoke.
- Come on Watson, take Holmes to your bed already.
They didnât expect a âWhat!?â of four voices, but when they saw Euros and Harry there too, Hopkings went out and Lestrade was just smiling.
- I guess Iâll be back some other time, youâre clearly having a family reunion. ⌠It really takes a Watson to keep a Holmes right, after all.
