The possibility that TENBLANK can be Billboard Japan’s Best New Artist 2026 might become a reality.

For the "Best Artist Award," top artists who have enlivened this year's music scene, such as timelesz, HANA, Gen Hoshino, Mrs. GREEN APPLE, and Kenshi Yonezu, were nominated. For the "Best New Artist Award," nominees included CANDY TUNE, CENT, TENBLANK, HANA, Brandy Senki, MON7A, and ONE OR EIGHT.

Awards season will be next year.

It has been announced that Japan's largest international music award, the MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN 2026 (MAJ), will be held on June 13.

The Grand Ceremony, which will announce the major categories, and the red carpet event will take place in the evening at TOYOTA ARENA TOKYO, while the Premiere Ceremony announcing other categories will be held in the afternoon at TOKYO DREAM PARK. During the awards week from June 8 to 13, various stages featuring performances by different artists, as well as seminars and showcases by industry professionals from Japan and abroad, will also be held.

I would be curious to know how IP works regarding the four actors continuing to perform as Tenblank. Wakagi Mio obviously gave Netflix the rights to the contents of her light novels for filming/production purposes, but if Satoh's Tenblank keeps performing for the next, say, three to five years, how does that work? I'd just love to know what kind of deal Wakagi struck with the production team.

Now that you mentioned it I am curious too. I wonder if the agreement would only be for the tv series. But at the rate of things going right now and how Takeru might want to take the fictional band to the international stage it might be that Mio Wakagi has a blessing when she always promotes Takeru’s concerts/fan meetings on her social media. Now, I am not sure if it is limited for a year or so.

Who would have thought that the debut album stays in the Japanese Billboard’s top 10 for many weeks?

Or the interest among the Japanese public and outside is enormous? Not certain if it influences the sales of the original works too locally. (Since there’s no plan to translate them into other languages, it remains to be seen …)

Hopefully, there will be no legal repercussions from Ms Wakagi’s side in the coming years. That would be an awful end for this spectacular project.

For all intents and purposes the fictional band and their eponymous album didn’t win at the recent Japan Music Awards. I think they wouldn’t have the time to campaign for it on a way. Everyone is doing some other projects right now.

But Hitsujibungaku won. Big time. They even performed “Dogs,” the theme song for “Sins of Kujo.”

Rewatching the 11th episode it didn’t occur to me that while Agott/Agathe observed the mating scalewolves with their behaviour of slamming themselves to lose the scale so as not to hurt their young, she likened the ritual to losing their armour. And while she was having these thoughts the frame segued to Coco and her bourgeoning relationship with her. Agott thought of Coco, who started to “unarm” her in her own way (killing her with kindness). Because like the scalewolves with their scales, she began to lose her “armour” little by little unawares.

Of course the scalewolves will make an appearance again later but for now there’s Agott contemplating about Coco and her improving knowledge of witchcraft.
